It seems that UKIP are having their two miles from my home:

A bit of extreme Conservatism never hurt anyone..... Did it.

In all honesty I am seriously considering going along out of curiosity. Like most parties they have some policies that appeal to me, and some that don't. I am not an ardent supporter of any political leaning, so maybe this might be an enlightening experience.

I would go if I lived down there. I am probably Republican in my views but I fall foul of typical right wing ideology because I just don't buy the immigration pitch. History has proven the anti immigrant, anti foreigner sentiment to be complete bollocks in every instance ever recorded. So what am I ? An extreme right wing, liberal socialist who also just happens to have a mind of his own....
No fucking labels on me thanks.
With all those complexities, isn't that just one step from being a loony? loon

Care to show the recordings of this one TH? The ' recorded ' facts please .
I do not think in British history we have ever had the influx of immigrants anywhere coming close to the amount we have taken in, over the last 12 years. Show me anywhere in your alleged ' recorded ' figures where it has been like that.
Controlled and there is the word immigration is one thing entirely, opening the floodgates to allow over 3 million ' known ' migrants into the UK in ten years is something completely different.
So TH show me where this country in history have we taken in that amount in such a short space of time. Are YOU telling me and everyone else, that the possible influx of PLUS Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants is going to be good for Britain? Never in a zillion years will it be and we cannot stop a single one of them from coming here.
I notice you failed to answer my question of ' do you employ foreign workers ' ??

...and we cannot stop a single one of them from coming here.

Maybe not, but you can stop them from staying if they will be a burden on the State.
Ask your MP to find out what the Government are going to do about it rather than just harp on about Johnny Foreigner in this forum

Oh GnV even you are funny at times. lol
As you are more than aware GnV the Government are powerless to do anything as we fall under European directives over European workers being allowed to come here freely to work. Hence the title of this very thread ' UKIP policies '. It is why UKIP have become as popular as they have. It is the single biggest reason that DC has changed the Government's stance on Europe by offering us a possible referendum. If UKIP were not here, DC would never have made that offer. He knows that his party did not have a majority at the last election. He also knows he cannot afford to lose any votes and his party will to UKIP if the polls are correct.
We were told by DC that his party would put a stop to the huge influx of immigrants, but any European ones who come here, he has no jurisdiction to stop them. Why I am telling you this I do not know, as you are more than aware of Government policy on this one.
The only way the Government will stop this is by either getting Europe to allow us to control our own immigration, or to get out of Europe. The only way for that is a simple yes or no vote, which DC may give us IF he gets back into power which is unlikely to be honest. We will be powerless under European law to stop the new wave of immigrants from Bulgaria and Romania, and they will certainly all not be coming here to work. The best the Government can do is to try and make the UK less appealing to them by shite propaganda campaigns. Just goes to show how useless they really are.
Ask Ms May about Hooky and Quatada, and you will have the answers, about how little powers we now have.
Well the Government are trying I suppose. loon:loon:

I am more than aware that in France and Spain, their governments are not powerless to do anything at all.
Of course European Directives mean that people from across the community can settle and work but they cannot become a burden on the state, which is what your original point which i answered was all about. If the UK does nothing to protect itself from economic migrants who arrive on its doorstep with the only intention of becoming a burden on the State, it has only itself to blame.
I'm not joking when I say that you should ask your MP what the government intend to do. It is your right and if you do nothing about it, you can also blame yourself as well as them.

I'm really not sure why you raise this in the same post as they have absolutely nothing to do with the issue of Europeans being allowed to settle and work in the UK.
TH has already covered the issues of the work ethic of the Eastern Europeans so I won't take that on board. Just get over it.
As for the citizenship test, there is nothing in any EU directive that requires this. If you want French citizenship, you have to pass a very stringent test including an ability to demonstrate language skills to school leaver standard but if you are from the European Community, there is no reason to undertake this test as you can settle without the need to attain citizenship.
Well this is just for you GnV.

Kinda brings it all into prospective.
A golden statuette was accepted in his absence by Robin Barnett, Britain’s ambassador in Poland.
Hardly earth shattering. It wasn't even the Government, it was business leaders rolleyes

The UCL report I linked to in this - or another post. The Australian exodus. The Ugandan Asians, The Asian community generally in this country.
You forget that we are a nation of immigrants and the country needs new blood. All of our services are paid from tax revenues so it makes sense to get more tax revenue in than is paid out in welfare. Immigrants work hard. FACT.
No I do not employ anyone, I work alone. However, I have intimate knowledge of the immigrant frame of mind and I have a wide circle of immigrant friends - most, if not all, have seized the opportunities afforded to them and are making successful lives for themselves.
This UKIP and indeed your attitude smacks of the nonsense always batted about in a recession - blame him, blame her, blame them but don't blame me.

So TH why is this very Government trying it's hardest to deter the new wave of immigrants from coming here? Surely if your argument was indeed FACTUAL, this Government would be sending over Ministers to beg the Bulgarians and Romanians to come here in their millions. Complet hog wash and you know it.

Well that's a bit handy then eh? In your world every single immigrant who has come to these shores in the last 15 years, works hard and never asks the state for a single penny. In fact they are secretly doing all of us Brits a damn good favour by being here. blink They all speak English and all integrate in the British way of life. Really ? banghead

This country is full and there are enough people here to run this country with their taxes, it is the Governments who waste it on billion pound aid programes. It is the services that are struggling. The schools are struggling, as is the hospitals and all the other essential services that people like you probably do not use. BUPA for you I would hazard at a guess TH, as I would also if I had my own business and had a few bob. But the real people in the real world have to deal with these services on a daily basis and see the real truth, not what Politicians tell us but people out there in the real world of the general public.
It seems it is always people with a bit of money, that don't need to use these services who think everything is rosy in the garden. When the Guardian newspaper admits these things are overstretched, then you really do have to sit up and take notice.

In fact, quite the opposite when I suggested you proposition your MP.

Hummmm. Why is it that employees always beat on about the self employed with their own business always being ale to afford private health care?
It's a myth! It just doesn't work like that - honest!

Are you reading these things right, or just my imagination? Twisting things is a clever ploy that politicians use. Your not an ex minister or something like that are you?

Continuing our exchanges yesterday about the falling value of the pound, I thought you might like to read what our FX broker has just published:
Sterling falls to a 14-month low
GBP/EUR has dipped to a 14-month low of (interbank) this morning, while against the US dollar, the pound is trading close to a 5-month low of $ (interbank).
Sterling continues to suffer against most major currencies thanks to an array of concerns, particularly a possible triple-dip recession, a potential loss of the UK’s AAA credit rating and fears of further quantitative easing.
With little on the horizon likely to turn sterling’s fortunes around, we believe GBP/EUR in particular has further to fall in the short-term.

Just to keep you in the picture, like wink
