I can tell you for free that if you set a date and decide on a venue, people will come. However, just putting a post up with no date and no venue will mean the thread will go nowhere. Whatever date you set, some can make it and some can't. If you have it in North Liverpool, people will come, if you have it in South Liverpool, people will come. They may not be the same people, but they will come! Everyone needs something to focus on, ie a date to arrange babysitters,etc, a general location for maybe booking accommodation. Giving them nothing will mean nothing.
If you're serious about this, bite the bullet, grasp the nettle and decide yourself where and when and watch everyone start queueing up to attend.

Hi Matty, I know I did pm you asking to come along to this, but the date clashes with a Munch which is being organised in Bolton (just down the road from you) so very sorry, but we wont be able to come along after all

Whilst am NOT a regular within the chatroom am a resident of the City of Liverpool.
My lady, noladreams30 & I where quite down because the planned event occurred on the same night as:
redgirlmanc’s Birthday Bash in Bolton.
What I would recommend is that a person from the city re – arranges this event on a different date that’s still nearer the time, so people don’t feel let down.
Unfortunately I am very hectic with my new job & am ‘still recovering’ along with fellow Liverpool resident & friend Lindaxxx from the Social that we arranged in August 2006.
My advice is that you MUST look for date’s that don’t clash with other events.
Also arrange this minimum 3 months time personally recommend May ’07.
The organizers firstly must get a venue I suggest an entire Pub with the deal that they will make more income from the night than from regular punters. The ‘old man quite one’s’ are the best as custom is steady but no huge profits.
Another consideration is Hotels people cuming should stay in the same place as it increases the after party vibe.
Also please don’t have the event on the 11th of August as I’ve got something planned.
If you need any advice on this issue Di from Naughty Wigan Couple is excellent for tips & regular reminders of Website rules.
Lindaxxx, is a great resource as well & knows the city well. She’s got the ‘net at home I still haven’t.
Myself, always willing to help.
