Derby Social - Saturday 23rd September -Confirmations Needed

Due to the grand success of our last few social nights, I have been asked to organise another one for Saturday 23rd September 2006. Depending on numbers and costs, a function room might be arranged for this night; but if this option is unavailable, we shall keep the night as traditional as our last socials and spend the night in a easy to find, friendly and welcoming bar.
As I have stated above, our last socials have been a grand success. Beaming results of high attendance and great laughs. It is the perfect situation to met new people, chat and giggle to other users and be able to put faces to names, whilst being in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
The bar/function room that we will most likely be using will be vanilla. This means we canâ€™t all go dressed up as the domatrix/gimp in our favourite porn movie, though Iâ€™m sure some of the locals wonâ€™t mind! Please dress sensibly though (but not as sensibly as your grandmother!), I would suggest keeping in with the â€˜Saturday night, painting the town Redâ€™ dress code!

Due to a Large amount of single males wishing to attend, i think it wise to accept that amount and set up a sub list. That way if any single males on the orginal list decide to drop out, it gives the single males on the waiting list a chance to attend!

Can you put us down as 'possible maybes' please, as this is the same day as Mids and Newt get married, and we are off to the reception bit, ( it would seem I am responsible for introducing them to each other via this site!) so depending on timings / locations, we might be able to pop in for a short while, or the other hand we might not be able to!

Iâ€™m a really shy, very inexperienced newbie, and i dont know many people in Derby as I only move here last year after being brought up in a convent school. Yes i know my profile says i'm 38, but i'm a slow starter. :angel:
Do you think it would be Ok for me and my chaperone to come alone to your meeting. My chaperone is my 87 year old maiden aunt, sheâ€™s a little bit deaf but still quiet alert for her age.
I understand itâ€™s a social gathering; shall I bring a selection of my needle point and home made jams to share? Do we all sing hymns at these meeting??
Oh I do hope you let me attend. I promise that I will not get in the way. :happy:

Those organised by yourselves are always good fun and enjoyable but that doesn't mean that nobody else can arrange one, and if the dates aren't good for some then unfortunately thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, there have been more a few socials/munches we would have liked to attend but couldn't confused

For goodness sake stop being so petty, Derby is a big enough place, IMO no one has 'right' of arranging anything in a particular town / city etc.
I don't think for one minute CS is taking any credit for anything at the moment, all she is doing is arranging a social and I will 110% back her all the way.
I would also point out there were social meets going on in the Derby area long before you joined the site, so IMO no one as such 'put Derby' on the map

Thats the point i was trying to make.
Its the people that attend that make the night not the one who arranges it and i'm sure theres no need to be territorial over socials, why not sit back from organising one and let someone else do the leg work? dunno

As Sarah said, Calista and I were organising Derby socials before either of you were here but for one reason and another we stopped doing so, and no doubt there were others arranging them before us.
Derby, and for that matter, the Midlands, is a big enough place for any who want to t arrange socials, no need to take offence is someone else does one.
