Do you guys ever hold munches more local to the M4 corridor? Any organisers in this area? Willing to help with arrangements biggrin
Horny
We have held one event in Bristol which was fairly succeful 20 turned up and I think we had a 98% turnout rate which must be a record. We are holding another Bristol event on 25th Nov if you are interested. We would be interested in holding more even in doing a munch maybe early Feb 07 but to be honest the area seems to lack support or enthusiasum for anything big. Ive talked to people in a few of the local chat rooms and got a posative reponse from one but most seem to have a fairly negative view. JUst being honest smile but if you do want help or have any ideas let us know we are always up for hosting/helping a good cause.
Well the interest from around here seems buzzing....or is that 'cos I'm a single bi-fem? wink Not sure if the interest would be as high if it was for a munch and not a shag confused but I'm definately up for finding out.
How about you move the next munch a bit further down the motorway, I can help out and we might get double the peeps and bring east and west together? Hey, international relations at work lol
I know a few peeps in the South - London/M25corridor/Home Counties that would be up for a Munch, they mainly seem to be in the North. The North London social is looking well attended with a long waiting list.

Yup munchs are mostly up north and nowhere near enough down here sad and if there are they are always on Mrs Tweekys weekend in work. Thats why we end up organising our own events as if we didnt there just are not any to go too.
How does Swindon sound? Sent Hornyinslough a few PM's about this so fingers crossed we can get something going. At the moment we dont mind organising socails ourselves in Bristol as its relativly hassle free and no big deal if the numbers dont turn up. With a munch however would like support for sure doing the first one.
Cheers
Hi Tweeky,
Swindon a little far for us but is OK to be honest - anything south of Watford is preferable!! Surely there must be a call for South East munches, there seems to be a quite a few Southerners on here...but we've only been around a few weeks really properly registered. You're welcome to PM me talk further or try and guage reaction on this.

I think it might be worth throwing this open to test the demand....so pls speak out...who's up for a South East munch....and would South of Watford or Swindon be best for u?

That wont resolve anything. You'll get people saying they're interested, count me in, etc, and have it here or here's better or better still how about here and you'll be no further forward than you are now.
Don't run before you can walk. Just organise a social somewhere handy for you. Have a location and a date and post it. If it's the right area and the right date, people will come. Once you've got the hang of it, have another one. when you feel you are getting enough response to fill a munch, then organise one, but decide on a venue and a date so others can plan if they can or cannot make it.
good luck.

Thanks Mal
This is what we have done biggrin
Have attended 4 events and are hosting our 2nd social on Nov 25th.
I have no doubt in my abiltity to be able to host/arrange a munch however I have severe reservations about the numbers that would attend or actualy turn up. I dont find setting up an event to be any problem at all the problem seems to be getting people to attend or that seems to be the case in this area. I have now determined in my own mind a number that I think would be reasonable to expect in this area. With or without help I may go ahead with a munch event and will decide over the next few weeks. In realtion to this thread though, if doing it on my own it will be in Bristol as its far easier to plan in the area you know :D

Hiya, we are releatively new to SH and haven't attended a much as yet but would love to. If you organise one in the east half of the M4/Slough/London area we would be up for it biggrin .
If this thing broadens out to Swindon/Bristol as mentioned on this thread it would be too far for us, though no doubt good for others. sad Mal's advice sounds about right to us.
Looking forward to hearing more. Take care and have fun. smile

The original thread asked about the M4 corridor. As I can almost see the M4 from my house here in Bristol then thats why its included Swindon and Bristol. We dont like to travel if we can avoid it but I think up to 150 miles is a good range to be looking at munchs from. Socials are a different kettle of fish and are more local but its not unheard of for people to travel 400 miles or more for Munch. The most we have done is 80 miles for a social but having just traveled 600 miles one way for a family event have since realised that if I can do that  then 300 miles for a munch isnt as bad as it seems.
Welcome to SH

Might I be so bold as to suggest the much overlooked Newbury area?
Cheeky like, I might only have to walk.

Thanks tweeky, that is as it may be but our comments stand as they are no more than our comments. They place our desires into the melting pot and are not in anyway intended to highjack a possible munch location. We are getting enough fun out of SH to want to travell too far. Take care and here's hoping we mee up sometime but it is unlikley to be in Bristol as at present we have not intentions of going there. Have fun and thanks for your welcom. .
We've been to a few Socials up in Notts and enjoyed them lots. Only one was not as good as we expected, but the organisers said it happens sometimes. We would attend any Social in this area. We looked for a venue with open minded owners, but did not get very far. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you get something off the ground

This was first posted four years ago. Things and people move on !!
Just keep an eye on the Let's Meet Up forum for current events.
I'll lock this as it is not worth keeping going, better if you started a new one.
