Well it's Monday morning again. Now what does that mean to anyone who has kids and to add insult to injury ... teenage kids, they seem to be a special breed. Schools here are now going into the second week of the summer holidays and what's the first thing you hear most mornings but especially Mondays - that's right, "I'm bored...". The chance of it. Just imagine, no responsibility, no work, clock watching to be somewhere sometime. A nice thought.
Do you find yourself picking up every leaflet possible to find activities for them to do, enroling them in parachute jumping off the school roof, daytime activities etc just for a couple of hours of peace. But suggest they go outside in the nice warm weather and hang our with their friends and the reply you get back is " and do what ? "
So, is this just my disfunctional kids ? Were we like this at their age ( memory just failing right now ! ) If we were then I really feel sorry for my parents right now. It just seems if it doesn't have a tv screen attached to it or doesn't cost me a fortune then they don't want to know.
Sure I can't be the only one in this boat can I ? It's either the Titanic or a bad dream.
Well my little "angels" are 6 and 3 hubby was away on business all last week and has just flown off again this morning!!! good planning on his part i say? Divoirce papers will be in thr pst shortly - thre only stumblng block is who doesn't get the kids!!
Question, is it justifiable homicide if I murder the kids!! 1 week down 5 and a half too go!!
:smug: :smug: :smug: :giggle:
Not sure if it’s a sign of the times here or what, but to be honest, when I was a kid I could not wait till the school holidays. I was never in, always out doing stuff and loving every minute of it. You hear stories now of kids not looking forward to them because of the boredom factor.
Two of my three girls are always outside playing, with or without me. I suppose it helps as I live in a quiet cul-de-sac. I remember the first times when they wanted to play outside, I used to watch them constantly. Not any more, as I know that I can trust them not to misbehave to badly.
Now, the oldest (14) she is more of a dilemma, as 14 year old girls just do not play, unless of course they forget themselves once in a while and remember that they are still a kid. This year I finally persuaded her to use her pushbike to visit her friends. Of course 14yr old girls don’t do pushbikes, especially not if father has a car. I was crapping myself the first time she rode the 3 miles to her friend’s house. So much so I followed in the car, just to make sure she would be ok.
One week of this, she has persuaded all her mates to dust of their bikes and they go everywhere as a group, she is now never in.
As they all have mobile phones, as long as they keep me updated about where they are and who they are with, I am comfortable.
I don’t think the PS2 has been used once yet (thank god)
