are people really that bothered what clothes sizes people are on here? It's just that I see a lot of ads with women saying they are 'size 10' and yet when you look at the pic it is very obvious that they are much bigger than that... is that what they think people want to hear/is more attrative? I just don't get it
Why lie?
I mean, I don't think that clothes sizes are massively important, as people can be sexy at loads of different sizes, I just don't see the point in lying when the proof will be in the pudding (or the meeting lol) so to speak.
Maybe it's a chick thing, I don't know....
This is not me kicking off with anyone or anything, its a genuine monday wonderment
Peace and love to all x
Couldn't agree more... we had a meet where the size portayed on the profile did not match the size in person by a considerable number of dress sizes...
What's the point?
I usually say I'm a size bigger than I am - avoids any disappointment!
That is a *genius* idea Kiss!!
Ah yeah but size 10 in New Look is massive, so somene who has ever shopped there could technically say they're a 10 even if they are a tad plumper than a usual size 10 lol
Women's clothes sizes are pants... if I wear women's clothes I can fit anything from an 8 to a 14, comfortably, depending on where I got it. Men's clothes seem much more stable... size 28 or 30 waist always fit.
confused
But i guess that's not really what you're getting at................. yeah, people lie............ it's the Internet!!!!

meat-pudding?
I guess we all like to portray ourselves as well as poss, especially on a site such as this where potential meetings will be the result...
and who's to say what a dress/clothes size is...as far I understand (being an absolute expert, you understand) they very incredibly.
so.. an attractive and appealing intitial portrail is what is put out there in the first instance. (ok, I guess some points may be exagerated/reduced a little)
Haveing said that, the manner of initial contact and arranging a meeting will guage your feelings to someones appearance in the flesh also.
A quick exchange of mails, and arranging a meeting will probably leave the *visual* attraction much more open to harsh scrutiny when you meet...
... though, if you've maybe chatted a little first.. then taken gotten to know a ittle more about each other... you may well already find yourselves a lot closer to the *attraction* required, honesty does help though...
but don't downplay yourselves either... hmmm
gone now!
LP
in edit: i could manage a size ten... shiny
I don't think you can always tell by looking at someone.
I'm an 8-10, but because I'm short, I look chunkier than a taller 8-10 would.
I have my dress size in my profile, I'm not sure why, but it wasn't to make myself sound more attractive, I guess I was trying to be as descriptive as possible.
I don't really care what dress size someone is, it doesn't make them any more or less attractive imo.

i think it is........... as, stereotypically, women are also meant to excercise a bit of flexibility on their ages.
dont get me wrong.......... im not tarring all women with the same brush.... but i read somewhere some statistics that proved this to be the case......
i think the reason here is as LP says............

as for my opinion, id rather know the truth ...................
We've definitely met some women who are larger than the size they say on profiles/ads. I tell people my real size, can't see any point trying to deceive someone. I normally reiterate that I am fat too, just in case they don't have an idea about sizes. I don't want someone to think a svelte beauty is turning up to meet them!
I agree with bluexxx, womens clothes sizes are a nightmare - I can range from an 8 to a 14 aswell. I really don't see the point of being anything but honest, I expect people to be honest with me - although sometimes people just hope that once you've turned up, you wont mind that they're 6" shorter than it says on their profile rolleyes
I suppose the dress size thing gives people an indicator of what size you are, although I'd have to be more specific. 8 in a skirt, 10 in a dress 12 in jeans and jackets, 14 in boutiques because they always make things a size smaller for some reason.
H.x
I agree with blue and H-x
The whole sizing thing is a nightmare rolleyes
(Mainly cos my weight and "build" has yo-yo'd this year) Sometimes I can fit an 8 thong quite nicely but then struggle with a 12 skirt - go figure dunno
We have had a lot of fun (humour) recently tho redface

rotflmao - I know someone that describes herself sometimes (when asked) as 8 - 10 - 12 with the accompanying hand gestures to fanny area - lower torso - and titties
bolt
But seriously tho - I do sometimes ask about (dress) sizes because I may want to buy myself something for a woman to wear, or (forgive me this) so that I might have some sort of idea, by comparison; what some women mean when they say "I'm a size x"
who do you belive though is it Ann Summers(she says im a size 10) Dorothy Perkins(she says im a size 12) or Mr Diesel who says im too fat to get into any of his Jeans lol
hmmmmm
well this is where i start to feel a bit guilty and really concerns me when thinking abuot having my girst meet.
I've clearly got on my profile "Large".. and when anyone asks, I tell them I'm a Size 20... which absolutely true!
But.... and there is a but redface...
I really think that the pics on my profile make me look smaller than i actually am, its not like I'm lying or anything... but I really dont wanna put bad pics on sad
lets not presume its just women who would do this.
my profile is completely true, enough to deal with on a first meet without the worry that ive decieved who i am about to face.
i have seen profiles and met men who have been shorter than there profile states, older and have been using 10 year old pics. and far from musculer when really its overweight.
for me there is a lot more to liking someone than due to their looks etc , but to discover they have lied from the offing , well it just makes me feel slightly decieved and wondering what else they have lied about.
honesty is the best policy

Good subject lyristrata!
I put my dress size on my profile purely as I was trying to be descriptive and assumed that would be what people would want to know...hey we are all here for sex ffs so it just seemed right.
Why lie? the point is? If we arrange a meet and someone has clearly lied the trust for me will have gone and I need to feel trust to be intimate with anyone. Full bloody stop.
Curvy gal, I looked at your profile, your pics are great and you have very flattering pictures, it's natural we want our profile pics to look great to attract people who will find us attractive. You've listed yourself as large so I think your description is just fine. As Londonplaything says "don't play youself down". Here Here.
That's my two penneth worth. cool

Just a blokes perspective so forgive me for treading on toes.
How do they split the female population into 6 or so sizes???? Men get waist, neck, inside leg all sorts of stuff for clothes and get so few.
Or don't I understandf this? Shopping with my ex usualy involved me being braindead waitng for her to try on clothes she didn't like biggrin
I don't see the point in lying about your size in profile, one size difference you may get away with or in my case, have altered since the profile was first done. My size is medium and I'm sure people I meet would notice straight away if I wasn't telling the truth though I'm glad it doesn't actually state women's size on there ( ie 10,12,14 etc ) as I couldn't say what my true size is dunno
Women's clothes sizes change from company to company and in some I'm a 12, some a 14 and ( thank you Tesco and Peacocks ) a 10 in others.
As for Keeno's question, I have no idea how they work these sizes out as I'm yet to meet a women who's a perfect size 12 or 14. For me, I'm a pear shape so my hips are out of proportion with my bust but then my waist is a size smaller than it should be in proportion to my hips :dunno:
I's rather call it hourglass :smug:
I wish !

Which is what makes clothes shopping such a nightmare. You can go into one shop and try on a size 10 dress and it falls of and go into another and need a tub of vasaline and a shoe horn to get in it (although this can be quite good fun)
Most women's jeans are made for people the size and shape of prepubesant boys and most dresses assume that you have the rib cage and arm length of a ten year old. Don't get me started on hosery!!
Why d'you think we keep needing to take coffee brakes, it's exhausting.
H.x
I'm armed with said lubricant and shoe horn hunni so anytime you want to go shopping
I know what you mean hun. I hate the looks you get from these sales girls when you go into the changing rooms. They look at you, look at the size you're trying on and go 'yeah right' cheeky mare evil
I don't know what I am!!
I change my profile from medium to large dependent on what mood i am in! my waist varies wildly from 14-16 (18 in some cheap stuff!!) and my top half is 16-20.. nightmare to buy a suit! rolleyes
I have a really unflattering photo... plan to change them next week!!

PMSL i haved seen time and time again men who state their build as muscular who are clearly over weight, why do big guys do that if your fat your fat rolleyes

Just playing devil's advocate for a minute.
Could it be that some people see themselves differently to how others see them and/or differently to how they actually are
I know that I sometimes do (but possibly not in the way this post might come across) redface

i don't think so, if someones over weight (in a way they look fat) the chances are they don't excersis or go to the gym so how can they think they muscular if they don't work out?
It's like me putting i'm athletic cause i ran for the bus this morning lol
I just think big guys think they hunky and think muscular fits the image they want to put over

I had a friend who was on the large side but didnt see heself as that & used to comment on the size of other women saying they were fat when some of them were half her size!
Could it be like anorexia in reverse???

oh god i know a woman like that, she sits in mac donalds commenting on how fat some of the women are and how she's glad she don't look like that when she does and bigger!!!
not that it matters to me what she looks like but i have to laugh at her
i think it must be some kinda metal illness you know like anorexia cause she really don't see herself as big and shes about a size 22ish
I also agree with Blue (and others). My mother insists she is a size 10-12, and she is........at BHS, M&S and Jaques Vert...but she would easily be a size 16 in Dorothey Perkins.
Note to Men: This is why it takes us so bl**dy long in the changing rooms. First we have to find something we like, then we have to try on, the size we think we are, as well as the size either way..........also note, that if we see something we like in M&S or BHS we will be in a good mood for the rest of the day, if we shop in Monsoon, DP or Wallis we will be OK, if we try on something from Top Shop, MK, Paragon or Rebel Rebel we will spend the rest of the day in a foul mood!

This is very true. I think I'm a different size to what other people think I am.
I think men (and this is a broad sweeping generalisation for which I appologies) tend to think themselves up and women think themselves down. I once read in cosmo (so it must be true biggrin ) that most women think they're one visit to the hair dressers away from being Nora Batty and men think they're one visit to the gym away from being David Beckham.
