Firstly, I am so sorry if anyone thinks I am complaining about the Munch last night... I am not!
However, we parked in the NCP near the Britannia Hotel (Holiday Inn, as was) and on our return to the car this morning, we found both passenger-side, side windows smashed in and glass everywhere, inside and outside the car.
We were one of about 15 similar incidents, all in the same car park. We had the bracket for our sat nav still stuck on our windscreen and this, it seems, is a "rob me" advertisement sticker, for theives.
My Tom-Tom was not in the car and thankfully nor was anything else, but it still shook us up a lot and took much time and money to sort.
So... if you have sat nav, REMOVE THE MOUNTING BRACKET from your window before you leave your car anywhere that you are unfamiliar with.
Also, please note that the cctv in NCP's is pointing at their barriers and their payment machines.. not at your car!!

oh no......sorry to hear about that......its not nice when u get broken into......
awww hunni, that's awful :therethere: At least neither of you were in the car at the time and what was damaged can be repaired. It's damn annoying when these scumbags do this but I hope it hasn't dampened your enjoyment of the meet altogether kiss

Babes, have been there sooooo many times. its a real PITA, but look at it this way, it could have been soooo much worse, the little feckers could of nicked yer car and burned it out. Or even worse, waited for you to come back and stolen everything at knifepoint.
count your blessings.
oh and WB btw :P

Had that happen to me. Didn't even know the car had gone until the police knocked the door. The only thing left of it was the front number plate. It took the police 15 mins to find and identify the car and my insurance company 4 months to pay up ( robbing bas***ds :fuckinghell: )

And it pays to keep some wet wipes or tissues in the car to wipe away the tell tale circular mark the suction cup leaves on the windscreen....

...or any other circular suction marks eh Steve?
One of the reasons I recon the new smart phones are best when using sat nav! I have a Tom Tom too and as good as it is its so much hassle having to remove and install all the time and make sure no tell tale marks are left!!! Sorry to hear it happened all the same... what a duff end to a great night.
Might be worth asking the police for a report on the car park though.... if this has happened a few times and the hotel recommend this car park they could actually be liable for out of pocket expenses by not warning you!! Worth a few phone calls surely?

Ouch sorry to hear that, sheer luck my car was missed as I had the holder on the windscreen as well (although sat nav was in my bum bag, sorry to those who got hit with it by accident) Hope nothing was taken, if your insurance is like MrsTnh's hopefully windows won't hit your no claims bonus.
I know it a faint chance, but fingers crossed they catch the people who did it. I will be extra careful with my new tom tom.
we used one of the NCPs in the town centre , it stated you are 60 times less likely to have your car broken into in this car park
shit it must be bad anywhere else.
sorry to here about your car Vix

sorry to hear that vix
hope you and reece are insured
sorry to hear about this cos saturday night was a good one.
Hope as TnH says that insurance will sort it with no damage to the NO claims.
A good tip we were given by the police on a trip into Blackpool is to leave the glove box open with nothing in it

Sorry to hear about this incident Vix and Reece, hope this hasn't spoiled things for you of what was otherwise a great night out.
Unfortunately Nottingham does have something of a reputation for car break-ins, but you'd think the hotel would have some better security cameras or something. It may be worth trying to get some compensation on the grounds someone suggested earlier.
All the best.

I used to take the holder off and chuck it on the floor.
I'll stick it in the boot in future.
Thanks for the warning. And I'm sorry it happened to anyone, let alone you two.

Sorry... Couldn't resist!! Spank me if you must.... Spotted yesterday around the hotel car park in question!!! Ok bad taste but funny too in a way!!

Sorry but thats absolute tosh! The hotel is at absolutely no fault and there will be some sort of disclaimer on the booking form/website or in the hotel to that effect.
So if a Hotel points you to a car park as it has not got one of its own just because that car park is nearer (looking better for said hotel) but not a secure car park (maybe further away but MUCH safer option but looking worse for said hotel) and 'actively' knowing it has a problem being targeted by thieves its not in some way liable then?... Disclaimers mean nothing if they could have prevented something happening to start with. Yes hard to prove but if the police have warned the hotel that its being targeted it has a right of duty to inform customers... bad publicity or not!!
I must inform a close friend to send back his out of pocket expenses claimed from a London Hotel for the very very same thing.... and send back MY cash from the Britannia Hotel Airport Parking Manchester for NOT giving me said warning knowing they have a major problem!
Tosh = cash But thanks anyway......
Well crime does pay ! and where better to look than a hotel car park ! I think a good call by the hotel, also NCP claim that 60% less likely ( but 40% likely) would seem to me fair odds, but for the fact that it may not be 24 hour manned. Also the punks who bust cars know that. .Nowhere is safe, even on your own drive at home ! Its only my own ideas but when I am out at night I tend to park where there are going to be various people around who may witness or better still challenge any criminal activity by phoning the police.
