I've seen this technique used in other places but never the swinging scene so I thought it was worthwhile mentioning:
In this day and age most people have a digital cam or webcam and, if not, everywhere sells dead cheap disposable cameras. This means that there's no real excuse for not taking a new picture for an advert. So if you're the advertiser you should just ask that everyone replying hold up a piece of paper/card with a unique word or whatever written (by hand) on it.
Just thought this may help a few people. Obviously there are also fake advertisers so perhaps people placing adverts could include "SwingingHeaven" and then date. I dunno.
Hmm, it's certainly an idea, but (playing devil's advocate for a moment) what's to stop somebody getting hold of pictures of somebody else and photoshopping them to include the relevant piece of paper?
It raises the bar, but it's certainly not foolproof. Given an appropriate image to start from (which could be prepared in advance) I reckon it'd take no more than five or ten minutes to produce something that'd probably stand up to casual observation, not much longer than it would take to take a genuine picture and get it onto my PC to send to somebody.
OK point taken would you care to produce one that shows someone holding a sign saying WIBBLE?
Not taking the piss just interested to know if a fake is easy or hard to spot, and how quick it is to do.
Why go to the trouble of doing this? Why not just hold a webcam session or show pics only via a medium such as MSN or which allows pics to be shown but without sending them? We have never sent a pic to anyone we have met or chatted to but have shown pics or held webcam sessions or both. We tend to find this does not deter the genuine, the only people who are put off are those we felt suspicious about from the outset.
By the by, its possbile to grab any or MSN display pics using the print screen button. Web cams can be easily recorded using video screen capture software, some avaiable free, some for 30 day trial.
i just don't send out pics thats the best way to stop pic collector's lol
I have some pics on my add and if they not good enough for people to know if they want to meet or not then i don't meet.
never put yer face and yer flaps in the same pic

gotta agree with the grooverider on this one, i recently posted an add saying that peoples thread lines and joined date may be an indication as to wether or not they were particularly genuine or not.
quite a few people replied and quite rightly stated that not all SHeaven users post threads, some prefer to use the chatrooms or simply lurke around or view the ads, all of which are fine and dont make them any more or less genuine than me or the next man....
indeed myself and rach used to simply use the site for the ads section, and after a few hits and misses ended up chatting to some very genuine people. we now however use the forums quite regularly and have decided against using the adds and to ask for invites to and attend the munches, which we feel, would suit us better....
when we started using this site we were looking for a quick response, meet up and sex, which looking back on it, am glad didnt happen, we seem to have settled in quite well now, after the initial learning curve, and are enjoying the site more and more.
going back to the original point though, knowing wether somebody is genuine or not bears no indication to a peice of card in a photo, getting yourself known and getting to know other regular forum users is the best way in our humble opinion.
