Just like to say Hi to you both.
Stick with it and you will find there are a lot of good people about. We started in the chatroom but when it got too busy for us we moved over to the slower paced forum (well some of the time) Here we found people who thought before they opened their mouth and blurted out something. It has taken us time to "join in" but it has been well worth it and with one munch under our belts, we are now looking forward to another one and a party. Hope you stay about and join in the fun.
xx

Begin Hijack...
Mischief: anoninminiminity - bit like banananananana - never quite sure where to stop!!!
End Hijack - sorry
Sarge - do I take it you've got a shoe fetish going on there? Should I tell you about the new boots I ordered today or would that just be teasing?!!!
No mischief - that's Bananarama  - I think you want the 'Happy to be an oldie' thread!!
In the nicest possible way of course!!!
Just to say thanks Misschief for your very kind comments on my typically overearnest post.
Now if only we could hear you sing on here..! X
We have fun here , we have some interesting debates here , we take the piss and have the piss taken and we sometimes learn summat . However , its a bulletin board - call it 'online community' if ya like ........how would one know if one had friends here ?? Excepting those that have met and chatted or written on a personal more intimate level of course.
Really good points Silk and Big G.I guess I hope for affinity in people here, and their interest(weither involved or uninvolved but curious) in the scene is the most "one size fits all"bracket you could put such a large, diverse group of human beings in,true, but, one wouldn't expect the narrow minded or those hostile to free expression to be posting on here as a rule eh?x
Keith read that back and say it out loud to yerself mate !! You sound canny enough , and i dont know how long youve used the net , but isnt here exactly where you'd expect to find the assholes with closed minds ? Theyre here alright , in fact they lurk on every successful site of this kind ........this one is very well moderated and manged so they dont get a toe hold , but make no mistake leave this place unatended for a month and they would ruin it . :-) Thats cyberland for ya mate , all of human life is here .
Right I'm going to make myself sound like a right anti-social git now.
My reasons for coming into the forum seem to be slightly at odds with some of the others here. I don't feel I have to be accepted or not accepted - and to be honest I don't actually have much concept of whether I am or not.
I am a bit of fringe dweller - but I like it there. I read the threads and find them interesting and or amusing and sometimes I am drawn to post a reply myself (I do try to resist this urge - and the delete button is my friend).
I don't think it has anything to do with how often you post or how much time you spend on the site - if you read a thread and feel you have something to contribute to it then you should. People will read your post and be entertained and informed. I can think of some members with very low post counts (which would indicate they don't spend much time on the site) but who somehow feel familiar to me and who's posts I would always tend to read. And some members with high posts counts who still feel like strangers to me as tend not to read their posts knowing they will hold no appeal.
Cheers
CQ
I also agree with that you have said CQ. Sometimes you click on here 'mentally', fairly quickly. Others, it takes a while to get to know them - again just as in real life.
I do also agree (even though this may seem to contradict something I said previously) that it is not always the volume of posts - god forbid we don't want to encourage posting for sake of just increasing a post count. But a low poster who has an exceptional wit, or very thought provoking posts will show his/her character through those in a very short space of time. Other people may not show the same level of lierary expertise in their posts and require more 'exposure' to enable people to get to know them.
One thing - I too, have always felt slightly on the fringe on here too ( a fact which will probably surprise some people ). This is a place that I am quite happy to be. That said - I do feel now to be a part of a group of wonderful friends on here and that feeling has strengthened since attending the NW munch.
Big hugs CQ,
Alex x
