Can anybody help with a problem I am having please.
For the last couple of months it doesn’t matter what I am doing, if it be online of offline my pc keeps freezing for no reason, the only thing I am left to do is reset the pc.
I could be just working on excel or word when this happens.
I have found also that if I am online and there is a link to any other part of a site or another site I can not access this as internet explorer will just fail and take me offline.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Have you got Updates switched on?
Try installing a different browser and see if the browwser problem happens in that one as well. Select one that isn't based on Explorer, such as Opera or Firefox.

sounds like two seperate problems:
PC locking up
clicking on links in pages throwing you off the net

is it a desktop PC or a laptop?
how do you conect to the internet?
If you want to discuss via pm I am happy to help
Hmmm... Sounds to me like your Omparian Scudaruff has gone into the "B'schaenk" mode and that is causing a conflict with your M.D Pubic Ram slot.
Have you tried switching it off and back on again? I believe one time I did that and in doing so solved the Arab / Israeli conflict.
It sounds like one of two things...
The most likely is that there is an electrical problem - a part of the computer is beginning to fail.
The other area may be some sort of software glitch.
The only way to be certain is to completely remaster your computer (not something you want to undertake ligthly)
You could, of course, invite someone you help you fettle it and look at the computer as well.
I would save what you need, and then format the disc and reinstall the software.
It may not be this but our pc would shut down apparently randomly. It turned out that the fan that
keeps the processor cool had failed.
Once it gets to a certain preset temperature it cuts out to save itself from failing altogether.
PCs have a main fan that you can feel blowing out of the vents but there is also a fan on the processor and sometimes on other hardware inside the casing.
Hey Minxy , when was the last time you spring cleaned it- you know a disk clean up , a defragment, and a damn good virus and malware scan ??
Hm they would be a start :-)
Go to Start
Programs
Accessories
System Tools.
Then run a 'disc clean up' first
when thats done .......
from the same place run
a 'disc defragmenter'
ask it to defragment Drive C
That should take a couple of hours.
Now update your virus software and run it.
When thats done go here
and click where it says
# Server 1 Software Publisher Click to Download
Run that when its downloaded and after all that lot, about three or four hours if i guess right. If your pc doesnt run faster I will eat my hat ( or whatever you want me to eat)
Or as listed above you could get a new PC :-)
If you're unable to get to websites for anti-virus companies etc then there's a good chance you've got something that's blocking that. Unfortunatly there's only so far you can go before you have to get technical and start running something like Hijack This and trying to understand the results. Can you get to any online scans?
If you can't get to either of those then you're in trouble.
With regard to disk cleans up etc does a much better job of freeing up disk space, sorting out your registry etc then the built in tools. They also do a defrag tool that lets you manage the defrag on a much more granular basis, the problem with the builtin defragger is that it has to put up with page file writers and other annoyances.
Did you run malwarebytes ?
If not, do so !
Then: download and run that....if there is a trojan around your system, that will sort it (at least you will know !)
Quarantine them....
Use the tags along the top of m/ware screen.
Are you/your pc, running an antivirus ? (just thought I'd ask) and if so, is it updated daily ?
You may also, if not fed-up with downloading, consider downloading and installing CCLEANER, which I find very useful:
On the home page you will find links to instructions and also the download link.
As said: Hijackthis is very good at spotting browser hijacks which sounds like your problem (in part). Except that Hijackthis is rather advanced, and can totally crap your machine if you are not sufficiently savvy about its use. There are several forums for people to upload the scan results to for pro examination.
You could go to i/explorer and click on TOOLS (top of page) and then INTERNET OPTIONS to check what your browser home page is....
I would like to say thanks for all your help!
It seems everything is working ok now.
The freezing has stopped.
If internet explorer plays up again I will just switch to firefox.

I abandoned IE for FF for a while, then switched back to IE7 when it was launched. When Chrome launched I found myself swapping to that, mainly because handled long conversations on it far better then on IE/FF, and also because of the memory isolation for tabs. Apparently IE8 now has all that stuff so I might well be swapping back to that. Having used most mainstream browsers since Mosaic it's always been my experience that it's worth chopping and changing between them.
