Missing 9-year-old Shannon Matthews has been found alive in a house in West Yorkshire. A 39 year old man is being held on suspicion of abduction.
Her family must be so overjoyed that she's safe now. biggrin

I was driving when the news came on that she had been found, I burst into tears. Cant imagine how her family are feeling right now. Great news!

Yes, I think you are on the right lines, Sarah, but perhaps not such a waste of official time. The Police still have the little girl in care and have not released her to the family yet.
I think there may well be a lot more to this case than first meets the eye.

Was over the moon that she was found safe and well.
We think she may have left deliberately.
Not exactly an ideal home enviroment by the sounds of it.

Lets not judge eh? The girl is safe and well, thats all that matters, for now. Im sure the 'powers that be' will sort out the rest.
Unless anyone here has actually lived in the household I dont think its appropriate to make comments as to what the enviroment is/was like. rolleyes

Exactly!
We dont know what happened and probably never will know the full story, but to make judgements based on hearsay won't help things.
Has helnheaven says, the important part is that the little girl has been found and is safe.

IF she left " deliberately " as you say, why was she being hidden in a secret compartment in a bed? I don't know if these things are true but....she is alive and hopefully well and if taken against her will, hopefully manages to survive the trauma!
My hopes are now that Maddie will be found alive and well too. What kind of men do this kind of thing ffs? I hope the powers that be throw the book at him, and lock him up for life...a menance to society and more importantly a serious danger to children!!

I feel very sad for Shannon as it now seems that her mother knew of her where abouts all along. Im sure that we will never know the full details of what happened but I just hope that all of those responsible have the book thrown at them, and that shannon and her siblings are able to live a "normal" and happy childhood with people who genuinly care for them.

There seems to be a lot more to this sotry than meets the eye :shock:
but in the middle of it all is this poor girl who will have the stigma of this follow her right through her life.

I was talking to my Mum about this yesterday. That poor girl's with a foster family who must be having one hell of a job keeping all the media attention from her, it's on every single news bullitin I've heard. Some people shouldn't be allowed to bring children into the world.

There was something strange about this heartbreaking story from the moment it happened.
I think in the weeks to come there will be a lot more to this than people expected.
I have my thoughts but will keep them to myself for the time being.

Indeed a very strange case - with a possible link to the Macann case

This will be one of those horrendous stories that in the interest of a fair trail, we the public, won't know all the details until after it's been to court
Which is how it should be imho - too many cases are played out in the media these days
It was obvious something was very different in this case when the little girl wasn't returned to her family straight away - it's a very, very exceptional case when that happens

Listening to the radio yesterday, they were saying that it may be linked to something that happened in the tv programme Shameless (something about a kidnapping for a ransom).
Not heard it mentioned anywhere else dunno

Still the little girl is in best place at the moment. My thoughts are with her.

I also saw this briefly on the front page of a tabloid (it may have been the star!) something to do with a £500,000 kidnapping plot featured in shameless.

It wasnt a year back that Shannon went missing. She went missing for 24 days and was found on 19th March (cant work it out but makes it late Feb she went missing),
The link above says that Maddie went missing last year in May.
