Probably showing my age here but it has to be, for me, John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
Logging on first thing this morning, it was in utter disbelief that I read about Steve's death. He certainly had his critics over the years, but for me, he was an iconic figure.
My eldest daughter is a member of his fan club, and I really am not looking forward to having to break the news when she wakes.
Steve had an amazing effect on all of my three daughters. They all have a deep interest in not only wildlife, but also the conversation of the planet. This interest is down to one man - Steve Irwin.
I will miss his antics on TV, sure he did some crazy stuff over the years, but his enthusiasm, his vitality, his passion about wildlife and the environment was a joy to behold.
Today, the planet lost a good friend.
I will ponder the actual question later.
My beautiful cousin sad
She died right at the point of achievement - the business she started was just taking off, she never got to see how well it done this season.
Not just for her achievements - but for what she gave to everyone, oh I dunno, she was just taken before her time, can't explain it.....
or maybe she wasn't, maybe she's been called for better things that I don't understand or know about dunno

Yep, he was an incredible bloke, with one hell of a character - like you, I'm a tad worried about telling my youngest, who thought he was a real live superhero!
Amazing bloke - far too soon sad
we just saw this on google news , quite shocked, nuts but quite entertaining.
more time..erm.......................freddy mercury,......john lennon.........anyones child, no one should outlive thier kids.
staggy
steve irwin probably did more to encourage young people to conserve the planet than most , but you Know when your time is up, your time I am afraid is up
as to de-sade`s other question about who should have more time....I notice that of the posts so far including de-sade is that a lot of us seem to be stuck in the cult of celebrity.
The most poignant being that of Missy and her cousin, I also agree that no one should outlive their children.
but to answer the question ........Einstein..nough said

If any of you ever watched Steve Irwin on Animal Planet, you'll remember the enthusiasm and love for his work that made this man such a joy to watch. Completely barking mad but with such a passion and respect for animals, it's a sad day to hear of his untimely death.
Unfortunately, his method of getting so close to his subjects made it a foregone conclusion he wouldn't live to retirement age and that day has sadly arrived. He died doing what he loved doing most.
RIP Steve.
Freddie Mercury
Totally agree with you there Sassy
The man was a sandwich short of a full picnic but his enthisium for the animals is well known
A sad day indeed

Maybe thats because De-Sade said

It also prompted this question which I offer to you good folks out there... Family members aside, who - if it was within your power to grant it - would you grant a little extra time to see what might have happened, might might have been done, what could have been achieved.

dunno
Curt Cobain
aww... im really upset about this.
his programs and the work that he did in terms of conservation were truly inspirationa.
l to be honest he always had the vibe that he was invincible but then again it just shows that even though we are top of the food chain... some of the planets creatures can kill us in an instant.
RIP steve
RIP Steve - a man who inspired many.
My thoughts are also with his wife and two young children.
OMG ... Noooooooooo....... my son has grown up with this man ........ sad

The most imporant person in the history of music, ever
John Peel worship
a bloody lovely person and essential in the struggle against mediocre, made for profit, commercialised pap.
My best freind at school died at the age of 17. I often wonder what she would have done with her life.
So I'd say all those who never got to grow up and realise their full potential. The thousands of people who go before they make it to stardom and celebrity, and might have gone on to do great things.

Totally agree.
Will miss him for masny things including his open and enthusiastic approach to wildlife. For anyone who has had the chance to see what he worked towards in achieving with wildlife conservation at his own Zoo in Oz you can have nothing but admiration for this guy and sympathy for his family.
Be a great miss by so many.
James Dean... though there is room for debate as to whether it actually was his time in terms of career.
Moral of the story - swimming with stingrays should carry a health warning from now on.....
