The support act was Kate Wilde, so that might give an idea of the era.

WHO?!?! I'm trying to imagine the amalgamation of Kate Bush and Kim Wilde... hehehe...
It was Kim Wilde who was the support act for Michael Jackson... and I think I recall her saying that she never got to speak to him... weird!

Saw Squeeze 4 times (slightly different line-ups each time), the thing that stood out compaired to other bands I have seen was the sence of fun, the band seemed to be having such a good time on stage. That sence of fun was transmitted to the audience making the gig and enjoyable and memorable time.

I love squeeze would have loved to see them live, do they ever tour now?? sad
Favorite song they done was domino! Love that song smile
The best band i've ever seen live for pure energy and response from the crowd was the prodigy when supporting Oasis at knebworth.... Oasis were pretty special that weekend aswell.
Saw Madonna recently and to be honest i didn't think she was all that. Of recent times the best band i've seen live are the libertines - pre Pete's crack breakdown.
Gotta be Robbie but Leftfield comes a close second.

(actually the Macc Lads were a real low point).

And ye we thought these were very funny ;) when we saw them at Rock City !!!
Mind you were we all completely plastered at the time ....
U2, the definitive live experience.
Seen them a dozen times or so. None more amazing than in front of 1000 people in a competion winners + VIp gig in the Astoria.
They played like it was in front of 100,000 and rocked the place to it's foundations.
Unforgetable
Haven't seen many but the first was in Edinburgh when i was 12, it was Madness, ooh Suggs was so sexy then. Also saw Tina Turner in Gateshead.
My fave had to be Rod Stewart.
Shania Twain on dvd is excellent, bloody brilliant voice.
Would love to see the Eagles and Madonna live, not together though rolleyes
Yeh , i know, what a weird mix.
Gill x
I have to agree that Queeen were fantastic - but the live show
Meatloaf used to put on was fantastic. My sister and I used to make an annual christmas pilgrimage to Hammersmith back in the early 90's.
She went to see him this year and told me that the new slim-line version was nowhere near as good

In fairness Robbie, though they were fantastic, it was actually the Manics who caught my eye THAT day at Knebworth (late onto the bandwaggon as per usual). Didnt several bands play that day, I seem to vaguely ( redface ahem) remember OCS, Chemical Bros ?
Another vote for Underworld here - they put on the most amazing live shows (although they do seem to have gone downhill a bit in recent years from their heyday). Every show they do is different - I've seen them pla ythe same venue 2 nights in a row with totally different setlists, they improvise on stage, and blend their songs together seamlessly to keep the crowd dancing, often putting the drums from one track under the synths from another with the vocals from a third, and they have been known to tease a crowd mercilessly for 15 minutes before finally releasing 'those chords' from Born Slippy .nuxx - I've never known anything as euphoric as that moment in their sets a few years back. Listen to "Belfort Euroknees 7of7" here if you want to knon what I'm on about! (btw, that's a legal, official page put up by then band, with dozens of live tracks and practice jams to download.
myself and sophie went to the Move Concert at old trafford in the summer...MORRISSEY was excellent, but deciding on my favourite gig..it as to be Happy Mondays in 94...what a concert....but then again New Order in 90 were quite good...erm....and the Stone Roses were good at spike island as well....i just cant make up my mind.....right got it....The Tweenie live show at Alton Towers that the one.......that fizz is a right mover...lol...well the kids enjoyed it.....and i had my picture taken with milo....lmao
nige and sophiebifem

I think it would have to be James in Leeds. Saw them in Virgin records before the gig - Timmy Booth standing on a table miming into a banana biggrin Then they played at the University - fookin excellent.

Ive seen Jmaes 3 times, the first just after Sit Down came out in '91,the second when a certain Radiohead supported only a few weeks after Creep had come out and the third should have been one of the greatest concerts ever,at Alton Towers in ' problem was that even though it was July, there were gails,it pissed it down and they had to alter their entire set because of it,shame really.

Well it was obvious really as the three of them became two,but they did do a great set on John Peels show early this year, which was quite mixed every song into each other and it sounded fantastic.
I love the fact that they allow people to freely download some of their stuff, not many bands around would do that.
Hands down, Peter Gabriel. Saw him on the "Secret World" tour. Incredible.
Oh...and King Crimson & Yes still do some excellent live performances, too.

What a plonker. Thanks for the correction Wibbly. As I said it was a long time ago, and you are right, she did say she never spoke to Jackson. I do wonder if he had had all his cosmetic surgery done in the days of Bakelite if things would have turned out differently.
ACDC in Malvern with Bon Scott in the crowd with Angus on his shoulders
best two gigs i've seen are
FLC here in Derby earlier this year
and Coldplay in Manc land last year or year before... - drunken haze, can't remember
No does the "best live act only to do with music
cause ive gotta say teh best live act ive seen (well on DVD anyway)

Pure class!
JGL
you're not wrong on that one...the man's brilliant!
I remember seeing a (then) little know band called Nirvana at the Astoria in December 89.
That was truly memorable. Talk about raw energy.
Was only bettered by seeing them at the Reading festival in 91.
Have seen loads of great bands such as Stone Roses and Radiohead live, but nothing compares to those two Nirvana sets.
I've been trying to think who I have seen over the last 30+ or so years....
During the 60s, a lot of (famous at the time) groups used to play at the Ice Rink in Liverpool (my second home) on a saturday afternoon - mostly merseyside ones but we had some national ones too. So, the Searchers, Swinging Blue Jeans, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Freddie & the Dreamers, Dave Clark Five, The Animals, the Stones etc etc
First theatre concert was (cringe)... Gary Glitter!!! I know I know - but I was only 15 and he was at the height of his career! And the concert was excellent!
At the HardRock Club in Mcr (now a B&Q), I saw Ike & Tina Turner, James Brown and many more of that ilk. Ike and Tina performing River Deep Mountain High was amazing
I've seen David Essex umpteen times - loads of his autographs - has had a kiss from him. God he has lovely eyes!
Simon & Garfunkel at Wembly - great seats near the stage - magical when the sag 'Sounds of Silence' at dusk with flickering lights all round the stadium.
The Moody Blues - very professional and slick - it was a privilege to see them!
Bowie - this was in the eighties and at Maine Road (Mcr) - I was extremely dissappointed because I love his music but he just cameon, sang and went off - no 'show' or 'performance' it was he felt he didn't have to try. Also he changed the arrangement of my favourite song - China Girl - I was gutted.
Genesis (with peter gabriel) - fantastic
Genesis (with Phil Collins) at Roundhey Park, Preceded by Paul Young. That was one hell of a day! They were excellent.
ZZ Top at the Cattle Market (Bingley Hall) Now those guys are great - and very tongue in cheek too!
The cheesy Dr Hook at the Apollo in Manchester - You may all laugh but they were fabulous - I went to the front with my camera, the lead singer spotted me - stopped them all from singing - MID SONG!, got them all to troop over to where I was stood and posed for a picture!!!! I was sooooo embarrased!!!! But it just shows what really nice people they were.
Leo Sayer - again a tremendous performer.
Don Williams (C&W) - we took the in laws. Again not everyones cup of tea, but another true professional.
Rod Stewart - now there is a man who knows how to entertain an audience!
U2 - the Joshua Tree tour - as with Bowie - dissappointing! No 'performance' - may as well have just slapped the record (no CDs then) on the deck.
I'm sure I have seen more but I can't think of them just now.
Out of those above the 3 best were
Simon & Garfunkel
Genesis
ZZ Top
The person I most want to see is Peter Gabriel
I'd love to see the Paris concert - I saw it on TV a few years ago - that rendition od 'Call Me' with the phone box was superb!
with out doubt alice cooper, welcome to my nightmare 1975,
I've been to loads of live gigs now and it's really hard to choose... I used to be a raver back in the day and Prodigy were always fantastic, still love em to bits! There were loads of good rave PAs such as GTO, N-Joi and the like (for those who were there wink ) I've seen Underworld and also Basement Jaxx on TV live and they put on fantastic shows, as do Muse.
Now I'm a bit of a rocker I've seen Foo Fighters, Linkin Park with Lostprophets supporting - fantastic!!!, Kasabian, the Charlatans, Ian Brown and Moby. All of them were fantastic in their own way I really can't choose the best of them because I enjoyed them all. I'm going to see Blink 182 next month, can't wait!
All the above pale to insignificance against our very own ^Stuart^ doing it "His Way" :karaoke:
best live acts ive seen are as follows
Gary Moore at the mean fiddler on charring cross road in london i stood in the front row for a 3 hour showcase of a new album launch of "back to the blues" over 3 hours of pure blues n rock played so well and the best bit it was a free ticket from the record company !!
rod stewart very good, paul rodgers from free and bad company awesome best voice in music by a mile , bryan adams live is very good, tina turner live is also good , joe walsh from the eagles awesome guitairist , the who are just so good and loud , brian may live is excellent seen him 4 times puts on a good show , bon jovi live are good, theres too many to list as ive been to so many gigs there would be no space left for anyone else !!!
Now I'm gonna show my age lol best live acts I've ever seen are,QUEEN( always top drawer live), GENISIS(pre phil collins when peter gabriel fronted them) LED ZEPPLIN(nuff said lol) and yes that great tmeless rocker from the seventies Alice Cooper
might be old but there dont seem to be the great live acts out there anymore
I saw Bowie and Moby at Glastonbury they were fantastic. Nickleback were good as well at V festival.
Best gig attended Metallica all tours or Guns and Roses at Donnington
Best personalised gig Dr and the Crippens, i was their roadie and performed as "Mr Parkinson" for a few gigs
Missed gigs i would like to have attended

Don't believe the hype I paid silly bollocks money to see Status Quo on their "final tour", wasn't overly bothered about seeing Quo at that time but if it was the last chance ever i took it. Since then the bastards have done many tours!!!!
If i had known i would not have gone to see them!!! If my lawyer wasn't so busy sorting out my divorce you can bet Francis and Rick would be in the dock right now!!!
So i'll give you good odds on this not being Meatloafs last tour
