I
I have heard bad things about the iPod, that although it will play many hours of music, the batteries only last a very short time so most of your collection on the machine would go unlistened to. lol.

My iPod lasts me all day and I plug it in at home, no problems with the battery so far!!
I have set up a couple of playlists from the CD collection so that I can listen to all my fav tracks and not have to sit through the unfav ones. I've heard most of my collection now and have thoroughly enjoyed re-hearing a load of tracks/CDs that I wouldn't normally pull out of the pile. AND my shelves are now free from the clutter of the 294 CDs I had!!! They're all under the bed.
Sexiest machine ever designed - form and function in one small cigarette box size shape. Just looking at the packaging made me want to buy it. There's a new mini iPod just gone on sale in USA and due for release in UK in April - smaller hard drive and pretty pastel colours....
The search button is my friend ... smile
Apologies if resurrecting a thread that is +12 months old is not the done thing... :)
Not that my new found gadget is electronic or trendy but it is saving me so much time - what is it....???
A cleaner that goes inside your fish tank with a magnet piece on the outside of the glass and as you move the magnet over the outside glass - the cleaner pad inside the glass scrapes clean all of the green gunk off!!!
I am so chuffed it's worrying redface
Anyone else got useful gadget info they want to share???
I love my new Sony PSP, got it last month from the states.. Just cant stop playing with it wink

Anyways to get back on track, I have brought and I would reccomend it to you......(drum roll for effect).....wait for it, wait for it.....c'mon your getting more curious by the minute, admit it, without doubt the most usefull thing I've purchased in the last few weeks ......milk it for a bit longer davej......The best £20 I've spent in a while.
damn! ...I can't say cos it's a specific bit of kit and not a generic thing which would mean I'm promoting a product on here.
Well it doesn't matter much cos they are still bloody excellent and honest, if your stuck for a present from someone then you would do worse than ask for one, honestly you wouldn't be dissapointed with it. They really do work as well as the advert suggests. We were a bit sceptical, but we all use it and wouldn't want to be without one now. Go on treat yourselves.
Forgot about my DAB radio - they are so cool... cool
Shikukai

ok, another vote for the nokia 6600 - a camera, and i can make my own lil themes for it too!!! yay - heaven for a gadget lover who also loves messing about with graphics (even tho my imagination far outstrips my ability so far - as one look at my website will show! lol)
My best buy this year has to be a portable dvd player. Its great to be able to watch a bit of a movie in bed just before turning in. We've also just got broadband, so that is a close second.

rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
After 2 years of dial up.....now have broadband, and i couldn't ask for anything else!
Just out of interest, this TOM TOM navigation thing, how does it get connected in the car? The reason why I am asking is that my lighter bit is broken so can it be powered by something else in the car?

I must have been stalking ya buggers around the shops without even knowing it!!!! That's my list too
Oo well no ipod here, but my orange SPV thing plays movies, MP3, games, and is my smallest phone yet. So small I think I lost it in the ambulance at the weekend
Still on other gadgets I love my CH Flight Sim yoke, like a real plane yoke (the bit they fly with) and makes flying on the PC so much more real...
Little portable radio things, public frequency, 8 channels and mile or so range. Just the thing for reminding your crewmate to put mustard in your burger when off getting lunch (or calling for the paramedic when they start saying I landed on my back after falling 20ft and it hurts  )
LED torches, last forever and nothing breaks em...
and more in lime with the rest of the thread my Tom Tom sat nav PDA with wireless networking (and the router that makes that work). Great for daily life, gets me from a to b, checks my email, and plays movies in the bath, heaven...
Mine has to be the candyfloss maker I had for my 31st birthday last year - I can`t get enough of the stuff!!

Mine is hard-wired into the ignition and I've got a cradle on the dashboard. I got the hardwiring done at the same time as the phone charger/cradle. So all I have to do is reset the iPaq2210 a couple of times and then just plug it in.
Hope that helps!
:P
Just picked my my new Ipaq6340 - The Ipaqs just keep getting better and better.
Wha's more, was on the beach at the weekend, lo and behold it had wi-fi.
Sitting on the beach surfin the web - all for free.
Next hot day I will have to take my laptop down. I can do all my work from the beach. Don't you just love technology.

Not Fair, tells us what it is precious :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Do the IPaq's (and other newer PocketPC's) have decent battery life yet? I went with a Palm-OS based solution when I got my PDA a couple of years ago 'cos of the much larger range of programs available, I'm a techy so don't need the windows-similar interface (which, to me, for a small-screen device, sucks); and the battery life of the PocketPCs back then was hopeless - a few hours of use or something. Not really very portable when you needed to be within close range of a power socket all the time.
But I hear they're a lot better nowadays. Can you get by with average use and only charge it up once a week or less?

To be honest since I have had my new one, I have been amazed at how good the battery has been.
There is a good article at:

The problem with all PDS's is that as they add functionality the drain on the battery increases. For instance, mine has WI-Fi and bluetooth. Wi-FI does seem to suck up the juice pretty quickly.
All in all - I would not be without one - all things taken into consideration, including battery life.
I'm really not a gadget person, but I've just got an iPod and OH MY GOD!!! It's the most beautiful thing I've ever owned! I love it so much. I've spent most of the last week borrowing CDs from everyone I know and am currently sat in my room surrounded by piles of CDs which I have to copy into iTunes at some point. I think I may be turning into a geek biggrin
Having never had music stored on my computer before, I'm especially amused by the way it tells you how much music you have, not in hours but in DAYS!!! lol
