Hi all
Am I the only person on earth who hates this mindless torture with a vengeance?
I cannot begin to comprehend the pathetic drivel that has become television when "programmes" like this dire shite becomes a hit?
Does it not say more about the mentality of our nation and the "yobbish" culture that we have talentless half-wits parading themselves semi-naked and talking utter nonsense, who will then leave and earn an absolute fortune, being paraded around as talentless half-wits?
Best example? Jade Goodie. Surely the most talentless person, illiterate, lacking in any social graces, biggoted, thoughtless and speaks like an labotamised monkey?
Am I alone? Maybe others do not share my opinions?

You are not alone ;-)
Thank you, I feel so much better now that I am not alone lol
Very far from alone!
I started to watch the very first series (years ago now). By day 3 I thought "This is rubbish!"
I said so at work, and there was stunned silence - followed by expressions of incredulity, but I stuck to my guns.
I have never intentionally watched a single moment since of either the 'ordinary' programme, or the 'celebrity' version (it pops up sometimes whilst 'channel hopping' and always looks abysmal).
I also refuse to watch other 'reality TV', whether it is filming an airport (WTF? dunno) or fake celebrities in fake jungles mad. It seems to me just a cheap and lazy way to make television programmes.

So glad I am not the only one who feels like this!
I too was ridiculed at work for daring to mention that the programme was garbage.
Fortunately, I was able to suggest sacking anyone who did not agree with my version of events and the chat turned to other subjects ... lol
Getting crowded in here with people agreeing with you dave! Count me as one!
Oh good - there are at least 5 of us.
Big Brother fans are quite high on my "who couldn't you shag?" list.
each to their own..i love big brother. It shows ordinary people in a melting pot atmoshere..and find it great to watch how the interatuion takes place or doesn't. It brings up important topics for open discussion. this year alone it has brought up the important topics of racism and bullying... and then has brought the topic of when the word " " is acceptable.
It is Channel 4's most popular programme and so it ain't gona go away. There are many other channels..don't like it..don't watch it. Simple as.
Oi deano this is a thread for those of us that hate the poxy programme....
You got your own thread smackbottom
biggest load of crap on the tv..it's full of people that are nobodies wanting to be somebody then when they are somebody wishing they were nobodies again....hate it with a vengeance.... evil

Dean I am surprised because you sound intelligent lol
Get your own thread if you want to big it up. If it takes a tv gameshow to teach people its wrong to say , then we are in trouble. Does it also mean its wrong to throw people off the roof cos Phil Mitchell showed us why in Eastenders? Come on, its just a form of voyeurism, lets not dress it us as "high-brow" or meaningful. It isn't.
Have you noticed the next stage of the "game" currently showing in Holland I believe, where the "contestants" are due to win a replacement kidney? I kid you not, its actually true. Unbeleivable.
Aussie BB is very stange indeedy! confused
I watched the first one and really enjoyed it... I liked the thought of putting a group of peeps from different backgrounds together to see how the dynamics work. Then, maybe thats because of my background in community studies.. smile
Ive watched it here an there over the years and I feel its begining to get stale... we need something new and exciting! Ok, well maybe thats just me lol wink
I could understand if there was a point to it with meaningful tasks to fulfil, but its just dross.
If you had a "survivor" angle to it, now that I could believe would be good tv?

And a Millionairess, with more opportunities to come
Not that I'm defending that swanpdonkey, just highlighting how influential that programme is, and how swept up the masses are, in watching that poor excuse for 'entertainment'
And I feel I'm being restrained here

The only time I've watched BB was in oz and I got hooked. We even had tickets to an eviction night, it's filmed in a theme park over there and you can go round it like an attraction- ie see the all the tv screens in the editing suite etc!
I HATE BB with a passion though.
I refuse to watch it and if it's ever on in someones house, then i don;t pay attention to it.
I think it's complete drivle (is that another one of my scottish words?)
I think the same about all these reality shows ESPECIALLY (z-list) celebrity ones.
Celebrity jungle, celebrity circus, celebrity salon, celebrity boutique- mad :x :x
I also hate 'talent' contests the likes of x factor etc, as they have groomed the winning contestants since the start.
The only reality tv i do like is faking it- love that prog, and wife swap in the early days was quite fun (although now the show makers must intentionally be going down the contestants that will have the most agro to make it more interesting)

the debate on....see this is where BB does actualy educate. It seems in certain circles and in certain situations it seems the word " " is acceptable. What it seemed to boil down to was that white people useing the term was unacceptable !! anyway debate for another day..but also like to let you know about the kidney thing. That was a spoof TV program !! It was done to highlight the extreme need for donors. I thought a bit sick myself.. but was nothing to do with BB.

lol  You see why my profile's so empty - not enough room for all the no-nos!
I do prefer some meeting of minds as well as bodies - but as long as the hypothetical BB fan had other topics of conversation I guess I still would ;)
I suppose it's possible I've already had my wicked way with a BB fan and not known it  (that he was a BB fan , not that we ...)

That is a joke right confused

The contestants are far from ordinary people, they are chosen because they are far from ordinary and the atmosphere is contrived and manipulated.
At the end of the day it is a game show and they are contestants, a dire, brain dead TV game show
We have never watched BB or any or the varients. Rather watch a wild life program about Chimpanzies, actually get more intelligence from the Chimps.
As to people who say its interesting to watch diverse group of people in an enclosed situation. That might have been true if the "contestants" who picked at random. They are not, they are picked by psychologists to give the result that the production people require. You get a truer version of people interacting on a late night bus!
John & Shel
there ought to be a government health warning on the dangers of watching such crap. No wonder our society is in such dire straights!
At least smoking (I don't btw) which has the most prominent health warning (danger of death etc) makes a significant cash contribution to the NHS!
What, with the phone-in rip-offs and BB just to name two, isn't it time we all publicly burnt our TV Licences and started listening to the radio again?
Hit the bastards where it hursts most.. their revenue!
rant over
i started a thread last year (i think it was) about b.b. what a load of crap, because i felt left out of conversations at work i tried to watch it and got even more annoyed when part way through a conversation little birds started tweeting or a plane took off,WHY i asked well thats cause the topic may be interEsting so you gotta watch it i know gotta ring in to get rid of 1 of them. NO WAY JOSE'. rather watch paint dry, (thats on the other channel).lol.
ps. i wonder how many people make arrangements to meet up tonight then because some find b.b. captivating will let someone down on a meet.i ask because we invited a single guy once to a club he was all up 4 it until he realised the press had stated they thought someone may have sex in the jacuzzi tonight on b.b. so he cancelled the as their was 30 people having sex in the jacuzzi at the

Now that is sad biggrin
Liking a tv show is not the same as being obsessive about it. Some of us can watch and still be normal, healthy, emotionally balanced people.
