Big is Beautiful???

All the magazines and models etc project the ideal woman as a perfect size 10/12 with gorgeous breasts, long legs and a stunning face (Wow, she sounds nice!)
How comes then, that as a BBW I have found that there are many many men and woman who find the larger frame so sexy, and why oh why are they not given the exposure that they so rightly deserve!
Its about time that being big and I am not necessarily talking about huge people just nice cuddly ones, should be positively promoted.

in fashion mags etc it's due to the designers supplying the clothing that size. also that size is much more predictably shaped to make clothing for, whereas bigger people tend to be bigger/smaller in different areas biggrin

Also there are far fewer larger people who want to be models. thin people believe they can be models so it becomes their goal....chicken and egg....

Like you though BBW I'm a big girl and I have had no problems attracting interested swinging partners and I'm having a great time!

Personally, I'd love to see the end of the "thin is beautiful" mindset. Give me a woman with a bit of meat on her bones anyday over the stick-thin "daren't make love to her in case she snaps" supermodel type. Bigger women are just way more sexy.

Well, speaking as a size 16-18, i personally think big is most DEFINITLY beautiful, all the boyfriends i've had have said they "like something to hold on to", a phrase which isnt exactly "flattering, but one which gets the point across. Today's "average woman" is now a size 14-16... Big is beautiful, and we should be proud of our figures!!!!

Here I was worried about going to the La Chambre club, considering that I'd make a fabulous duvet and not just a pillow, but having read so many good replies tonite and in the past....I can't wait to visit.

I agree with you MQ, this is good to see, but unfortunately it's an advertising campaign to sell Dove soap, so I suspect that the moment that their market research tells them that sales are not increasing, they will quietly drop it!

I remember hearing it on the radio a few months back that Doves advertising campaign with BBW was such a success that a number of modeling companies wanted the ladies on their books.
Yet to see them modelling Gucci and such, but i think the tides changing, i think for a little while now people are turning against the superslim models and complimenting the larger ladies.
All the bitchey sections of the papers (3am girls etc) are flattering the larger ladies, saying how much better Geri looks now shes put on weight, how other celebs look pale and pastey since they've lost weight etc...
As pathetic these bitchey articles (sorry gossip articles) are, they seem to have lots of influence with the public, and in turn im guessing the public will eventually have lots of influence over who appears on the cover of vogue/fhm/loaded/etc

For me personally it is not a case of 'Big is Beautiful' more a case of 'Beautiful can be Big'
I think the personality is much more important. I find that with someone I like the more I get to know them the more beautiful they become. I suppose like everyone I have a list of physical traits that I like, but I have found that since starting swinging they have become fairly irrelevant.

Definately not hiding from you Netsuke. I would never hide from a Rubenesque lady with a cuddly persona. I don't know what I've been hiding from. Glad to see that you bite sometimes. I like that. I'm sure you've seen my post about bitten nipples!

im not slim or really big, however i do want to lose a few pounds, not due to media preasure , but so i feel fitter etc, i think the problem can be that the bbw title can be wrong as not all big women are beautifull, in their personality and facial looks, just as its unfair to slate ppl who are thin and are naturally that way. big little blonde brown etc , its whats inside that counts and everyone has the right to be valued for who they are.
yes there are men who are attracted to big women, but its unfair to say men who like slim women are media hype driven. I think what we are and what are preferences are are there anyhow.

I can understand what Ice Pie is saying, being big dosnt automatically make them sexy (this applies to bothe men and women) however i would suggest that larger people are more likely (again no guarantees) to be secure in themselves, therefor have a more reliable personality and to project a more sexy image. Im sure we have all known people who are skinny as hell because they are so neurotic they cant sit still and fuss about there food!!It also works at the other extreme, excesively large people to who eating is the be all and end all of life.
I guess what im saying is either extreme of the size spectrum is gloing to be a turn off cos they have their own size issues that overpower any sexuality.

Wasn't it Marks & Spencer who had more curvy ladies in their advertising campaign the other year? I thought it was great!
I love a woman with a bit of meat on her, the trend in the '80s & '90s towards stick-thin anorexics was appalling, and a disgrace to those companies who encouraged girls to emaciate themselves to such a degree.... Slim is nice, yes, but not skeletal. I'm not into necrophilia! But a curvy woman is gorgeous, I love them!
The same sort of ethos applies to blokes too...... I'm shy of replying to ads. asking for "Fit, toned, muscular" men, as I am not. I was always dead skinny, but not because I wanted to be. I just have a very high metabolism, but in recent years I have become of "average" build. I am Mr. average, and happy with it. I'm not unhealthy, but still feel that some women would not want to meet me because I do not have a 6-pack....

Thank you Foxylady! It's nice to be around people who don't expect hunks and the like!
My body isn't a temple, but it isn't an ashtray either, but it's amazing when I hear some women talk, how they wouldn't touch someone with a bargepole if they weren't built like a brick shithouse etc....!
Come to think of it, many of the women who talk like that have a face like a bag of spanners anyway!

The pressure is huge to conform, and more than once I have contemplated murder when approached by some anorexic 16 year old shop assistant who simpers "I don't think we have anything in madam's size!"
I would not go topless at a beach, I would not wear short skirts, I would pick corners to sit in and hide from cameras. I preferred to shop from catalgoues since I would not be seen flicking through the racks looking for the high numbers.
Things changed recently when I met a woman larger than me who just was outrageous, she wears see through blouses, ultra high heels the works. I was astonished to find she regularly posted herself naked or in fancy underwear on the internet, even more amazed at the fan mail she got. It took a while but she persuaded me to pose for her and we posted the results, I refused to show my face but the response was so incredible and so ego boosting I agreed to do more shoots and allow my face to be shown.
My life changed anyway, to the other half's delight I will go out with him wearing a skirt so short no one is left in doubt of my choice of underwear, have not worked up to a see through blouse yet, but we have joined a club for voyeurs and exhibitionists where I can usually be found naked in the hot pool!
I think the sad thing is that we are made to feel ugly and it sticks, but to quote my friend when I spoke to her of my reluctance to go topless, "If they don't bloody well like it, they don't have to bloody well have to look do they?"
