Or they stick an extra bit on for there being more than 5 of you for dinner!
The fact we've just paid nearly £100 quid for something that cost you all of £3 to make is irrelevant.

yeah... that small print at the bottom of the bill about groups of over a certain number incuring an extra charge... is not the whole point of the buisness to get as many in as possible.. not penalise you for bringing them extra custom!!!!
you are actually doing them a favour ffs, it is a lot easier for them to have a table of five.. than five tables of one!
i propose we all go to one of these restraunts en masse.. and demand a table each.. to stop the group charge being levied!

I'm having a bad afternoon too and this thread is quality for the rants I need to get out before partying tonight!
Hmmmmm confused As long as you don't insist we do that at dinner in the restaurant tonight tho WBB  I don;t think they charge extra for extra people though 'cos it is a nice establishment.
That reminds me, time I wasn't here......... see ya later. kiss

Thats right and they still expect a tip! talking of tipping why do we still tip taxi drivers and hairdressers when they charge more than enough as it is.

Good point!
I don't tip well if the service is bad. I just look at them and they can see it in my face or eyes, they imply wasn't good enough!I'm a harsh woman aren't I!
Another one, is when you order one thing and they make a mistake and the food you get isn't what you ordered. How many people don't complain incase they tamper with your food?
Actually 5 tables of one is easier to do than one talble of 5 - though it depends what type of restaurant you are in.
Though my place does not add a service charge no matter what size the party is (and you do realise that you are not obliged to pay it - you just score it off the bill if you want to) - we do not take tables of more than 6 without a reservation as it would simply cock up the service and quality of food for everyone else.

........exactly the same as it did when i put it in sainsburys carrier bags that i stole for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As opposed to paying for things you steal?? :P
I know what you mean about rip offs theres loads all over the place, esp buying food, i was told yesterday that free range eggs arent as free range as i thought. Now thats annoying seeing as buy then specifically to make me feel like i am doing something good.
There are too many things wrong with the world to worry about them all

Your right about not complaining if they tamper with your food i must confess that i don't complain i just don't go back again!
Yeah i tend to just not go back.
It reallygets my goat when at the bottom of the bill it says "optional 10% service charg added" and they look at you as if you're shit if you ask them to take it off
my friend used to work for a well know pizza establishment.. the one in the song lol.
she said that she has seen people pick things they have dropped off the floor and put them them ontop of a pizza!
if they can do that for no reason... god knows what they are capable off if you complained!
used to work at the finger licking good store and they kept the chicken out alll day even though they should change it after 2 hours.
The world is twisted

I'm a complainer. I'd send anything back if it wasn't right unless I was soooo hungry I couln't possibly wait for the replacement.
The trick is to be very nice and polite otherwise they drag your steack over the floor, spit on it, rub it in places you don't want to think about and then reheat it to give back to you. Mmmmmm what a lovely thought.
G. x ~~~ makes mental note not to have the steak ever again ~~~
ok.. this might not fit in exactly.. but its another thing to add to my rant! lol this makes me feel better! lol
i get on a bus and pay about to go a few stops.... then along comes someone with a massive double buggy of babbies and two walking under fives ( allegedly! rolleyes ) who pays only the same fare as me.. but takes up 5 seats!!!!!!!
people who have paid a full fair then have to stand up.. whilst these people fill all the seats with their collection of offspring and prams.
fair enough.. i agree that you should not have to pay for a small child.. but it should be limited to only one per adult paying.. and when the bus is full.. you should have to put them on your knee.
this brings me back onto topic with...... how come BR( who sell tickets by computer.. so could in theory check if a journey is over full)..... have the cheek to charge you full ticket price regardless of the fact that you have had to stand for the whole 2 hour journey???
AND.. this is a continuation of above..........
when there is work being done on the line... they do a rail replacement bus.... this is a coach! i could have done the coach journey with national express for half the fare of BR.. so why have they charged me the full train price??????
i actually got escorted out of the ticket office when i POLITELY took this up with them a few months ago!

Don't talk to me about buses. They are the sole reason I learned to drive.
A certain person is supposed to be catching a bus over here later....... what is the bettin it's ........ no, let's not go there................ touch wood, he makes it here eventually.
i agree with you about the trains but not so sure about the seats on buses.
This is what i understood by reading what you said, if i had a 4 year old they have to sit on my knee and not on a seat which increases the chances of them falling of an causing injury to themselves, just because you are an adult and want a seat because you have paid full price?
Now i am not having a strop at what you said and am not trying to provoke you after all you seem abit stressed at the mo :P but i think what you wrote is abit selfish.
(backs away and prays he doesnt get flamed)

No, If they are on your lap, they are more secure, because you would have your arms around them. In the seat they could slide off or jump about and get injured - so she's actually thinking of their welfare! lol

what i am saying is that if someone comes onto the bus, and fills all the available seats with their children.. then they should have to pay for the seats.
the only reason children under 4 get on to the bus for free is that they are deemed to be small enough to sit on your knee... i dont think it is selfish of me to want the seat that i have paid for rather than give it to someone who has not paid for it... they bus has no seatbelts anyway./. so the child is in no more danger on your knee than they are on the seat.
HOWEVER... when the bus is over full.. because the driver has calculated the number of passengers based on people who have actually paid a fare.. then the people who are being forced to stand up ARE in more danger than if they were sat down.
this is not a rant at you personally.. its more at the bus companys... as if they changed the rules... it would not be an issue.
Car insurance.
You pay through the nose for insurance, then as soon as anything goes wrong you have to pay a huge "excess" that in likelihood dwarfs the actual cost of repairs!! mad
I know exactly what WBB means cos I live in Manchester too.
There is a whole contingency of women and men who take hours to get on the bus with double push chairs. They refuse to let you help them get onto the bus and struggle to control their children.
They then mangage to take up as many seats as possible without even moving the shopping you have next to you, their lovely snotty nosed rude todler is bouncing on your bags and screaming from the bus rails.
Then the mother/father has the cheek to turn around to you and have a go for politely asking thier offspring doesn't jump on your bag as it contains some thing breakable, which by now you can hear rattleing in the bottom of the bag in a million unsalvagebale pieces.
If you choose to stand up for them you put your bags in the container at the front. By a stroke of pure miracle, the trolley now folds down and it is slammed, and I mean slammed, ontop of your bags regardless to what they may contain. Any offer to move them before they chuck the pram on top is flatly refused or ignored.
They then spend the whole journey crawling all over other passengers, screaming or whining while the mother/father is on the phone trying to arrange something, and is more often than not surrounded by a blue haze of verbal obsenity.
The whole proecess of them getting on the bus is repeated when they get off the bus, usually taking a proportional chunk of ankle with them. Aagain all offers of help refussed or flatly ignorred.
I wonder why WBB is protesting at having to pay for four or five stops of this?
Buses are a great thing if used considerately.

Have to agree with you there....i have had to take a rail replacement bus but still pay the price that a train costs.....now that's a con!!!
