Can I just point out that everyone is able to delete their own posts - now I'm not too sure if that means the whole thread cos my magic buttons tend to blind me sometimes. The thread referred to from babydavid wasn't, as far as I know, removed by any Mod. We tend to lock rather than delete though not exclusively.
Iam inclined to think he did it himself. But if you can't delete your own thread then please let me know!! Actually I'd be interested to know.
That's all folks!
biggrin
I don't think you can delete a post once it's been replied to.

As far as I can tell you can delete a post but not a thread that people have replied to - I just tried with one of my old ones and couldn't - so I think someone removed it for him.
Roger.

Dogging doesn't seem to need much modding as far as I can tell. Sometimes, we just like to swap stories and have a discussion about them as an antidote to the other stuff in there biggrin
It's no biggie, it was just a surprise to it locked without big red crosses in any of the posts lol

Well, the dgging forum DOES require a fair bit of modding. Personally, I read the one-line shite in dogging JUST to moderate it - I'm obviously talking here about the idots who post specific locations and / or times of meets. I must say it has got better of late for that - perhaps more people are actually reading the site policy before they post   . I find that those the dogging forum doesn't get as many new threads per day as the others it still requires constant attention. No, it doesn't get the spammers and scammers posting in there as does the cafe and LMU, but the stuff that does get moderated is very important as far as the safey of (more naive) doggers is concerned.
Personally speaking, I do think that the dogging forum does have room for the social-type threads as long as they are obviously dogging related. If someone posts a story about dogging in there, then yeah, maybe that is better placed in the stories section of the site, but other social or discussion threads are sometimes interesting, funny, and informative. I've posted the odd "silly" thread in there - one I recall doing a while ago was about how many people go dogging when they should really be at work. It didn't run for that long but it got some amusing replies as I recall. I could have put that in the cafe but I didn't as many of the regs on the dogging forum don't ever look in here, so I felt it was more apt to put it in the dogging forum.
I guess what it comes down to is common sense. As with the other forums, threads will get locked from time to time based on one mod's opinion that the thread its perhaps inappropriate, not giving anything of value to that forum, or whatever. Having had several debates on the cafe about locked threads and the whys and reasons for thread locking, I'm not going to spark up that debate again, except to say that the rules that apply to thread locking in the cafe also apply to those in dogging.
fair comment, and i'll accept babydavy's post may have been deleted by his own hand, which, in effect would add weight to my argument..why was it left on the board by the moderators..on the subject of your good selves not removing posts, i beg to differ..i have had many posts withdrawn, one with explanation, most without..i'm also now aware, in conversation, i have gotten yourself, and mal mixed up, sorry..don't worry, the conversations were private.. lol   yes, posts can be removed by the poster..absolutely the MAJORITY of mine are removed by myself, when i deem them offensive or innapropiate.. no, i'll change that, as pointed out, babydavy couldn't have removed his thread, it was removed..his other post was removed for good measure, it hadn't yet become a thread, he could have scrubbed that one himself, but not both..i suspect both were removed however, the time lag was 10 seconds, coincidence, you decide

A kindly Mod moved it to the correct place! End of heart-searching. Roger is still on the thread deletion case though! Watch his space!
:P
ha, there it is lol knew i didn't imagine it, like i say, my spiritual home is the dogging board..maybe thats where my "wank in a liftshaft" post ended up?
by the way, i just recieved a pm from babydavy, he likes my stories too  cool wink so when ole dirty goes, the guys in the forum will be shouting "oh no, fat fuckers gone, we'll miss him" on the other hand, when some of the mods go, nobody will notice, they'll be lucky if the undertaker remembers to turn up   as always, only kidding  never get serious about dogging , thats my motto..i'm outa here

The outcome of the thread deletion matter is that you can only delete a post if it is the last post in a thread - as can be seen by the fact that I have now become trapped as Jags' sex slave!
Roger cool
You posted about wanking in a liftshaft and it wasn't deleted, locked or subjected to inane sarcasm??? You sure??? Doesn't sound 'normal' to me.

as i said, it had an airtime of 20 second, then, whoosh, gone..it was down quicker than a whore's draws...its uncle dirty we're talking about, that topic is normal from where i come from, the basement that is the dogging board...now will you lot let me crawl back down, i do not belong here..the more enlightened souls can visit the lesser developed beings, not the other way around, this should not be, its wrong for me to be here.
Do you have light in the Dogging section? Running water? Telephone signals?? Or have your eyes gone blind??
lol
We could do with some sarnies.........
And G says some chips.
jags, trust me, leave it..if i start liking it here, i might decide to stay..seriously, you don't want that wink
Sarge starts to arrange delivery of Red Cross Food Parcels to the Dogging Section of the forum!!
Where's Bob Geldof when you need him??
confused :? :? :?
Bloody hell Sarge, are you trying to poison them? That food must be years past it's sell-by date, looking at the labels!
Not posted anything yet on this (mainly cause I lost the thread when it moved from the dogging section) but I was also a little suprised that the original thread posted by Mr D had been locked. I do understand it was a 'story' but it was relevant to the dogging forum and didnt think it was doing any harm. The good thing about this post and the ones done by Silk & Big G, Serendipity and other regulars are that they say a little more than just the one line 'fancy a meet' type posts we see so often. The contents of the doggin forum vary so very much in quality and it is not very often we get something really meaty that we can carry on with and which has a good theme to it.
This particular post was more than just a story, it told of an event which no doubt made many of the doggers smile, and if nothing else it gave some really good tips to the newer members of the site who are interested in dogging.
As for posting social meets/topics in the dogging forum, well I have posted a few but all have been dogging related (if somewhat a very lose connection) and so far they have not been locked/deleted. If it is wrong posting them in that section then I will consider having my hands smacked lol However, the main reason they have been posted in that section is because a lot of the 'regulars' often dont venture out of that particular forum (poor souls, maybe we need more than Sarge's food parcel) and we would not get the same response from non-doggers, and often they wont be as witty/sarcastic.
