Bit of a dilemma

This might sound silly to all you ladies out there, however, the guys will totally understand where I'm coming from on this one !!
Last weekend, my beloved other half announced that she'd like to re-decorate the living room. "Yeah, no problem" I foolishly said. So off we trundle to the collection of DIY stores to pick up every concievable colour chart in existence. Then, leaving her to browse through them, I trundle off to work. Upon my return, she announces that she's decided she wants this, that and the other...."great choice" I say, she then kicks me square in the nuts with this "i want to paint or stain your speakers as they will not go with this colour scheme" :eeek: :eeek:
Guys, just what the hell am I supposed to do !!!!! Defacing a mans speakers is like defacing the queens head, you just do not do it !!?!?!?!! However, do I put my foot down and say no, and light the fuse for meltdown, or.... say fine, however, I shall just have to upgrade my speakers, and find a colour that suits while I'm at it !?
What am I to do !?!

If they are a real wood veneer, then it is a shame to stain them.
If they are nothing special, then this is something you can compromise on.
The sound won't be affected - and that's what matters.
That said - I'd hate to do anything to my speakers.
Maybe you could donate the speakers to the newly refurbished GFZ.

That's just it, if they were nothing special then I wouldn't mind, but they're a cherry wood veneer of Missions finest , women eh !!! No taste :giggle:

Well - there you are - if they're Mission and a real cherrywood veneer, it is not right to do anything to them. Wasteful of crafted and beautifully audio-engineered products.
I hear divorce is easier these days biggrin

Knock yerself up a box out of MDF and stain that - you can put your speakers inside the MDF cover...............

Im afraid i cant vote to let her paint or stain them .
Although I rate the importance of stereo speakers slightly below the colour of toilet paper in the loo ( in other words couldnt really give a shit) .........in my experience letting a woman paint/stain anything will turn into an unmitigated disaster . They wont prepare the surface , they wont prime , they wont sand , and they will leave the brushes to get rock hard and then apply the second coat by audible morse code painting with the hardened brush .
On second thoughts mate , let her paint them .the chances are within six weeks the paint will have all peeled off anyway (by which time she'll have gone off the current colour scheme anyways).

I'm with Redhot. Get her to make some MDF covers... surely all those hours lusted over the Big Strong Boys must come in useful sometime?

Why not upgrade the whole system and then move the old system somewhere else like the bedroom or bathroom lol

As a serial redecorator just a word of advice - where do you draw the line do you paint the TV because it dosen't fit in with your colour 'd drive yourself mad trying to colour co-ordinate are obviously quality speakers with a good finish, it seems silly to ruin them on a whim.

What about wall mounting them.... VERY high (and hiding all the ladders).
Mine turned my bass speaker into a coffee table with just a spare piece of cloth. The ripples on the coffee are pretty too!

I'm female. Through and through. A live-alone female who can paint anything any colour she fancies. DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE NEAR YOUR SPEAKERS! I wouldn't. It's madness. I really really am a bird.
Now I've messed up the gender balance.

Alow her to paint your speakers on the condition that you can paint her in a matching colour so that she doesnt clash with the decor lol

Or tell her its easier to get a different coloured GF to match the speakers :P
