You may or may not have noticed a programme on BBC2 proposing to find Britains best as the public are involved in the choice the results can neither be meaningful or valid (ie music-how many no1's westlife?politics-how long Thatcher?).So as to get to know you all better I'd like to know what tickles your fancy?They don't have to be sitcoms or even comedy shows I mean who dosen't get a laugh out of Footballers Wives (eating the dog honestly!).I think a persons taste in comedy tells me a lot about you and your tastes, such as Vicar of Dibley=no taste :twisted:

Only one winner for me - Blackadder.
If only for the last episode of Goes Forth. The desperation that Edmund showed when he knew he was going to die in a matter of hours and the sobriety of the final scene (especially as the battlefield segues into a poppy field) never fails to bring a lump to my throat.

I have tried to write a 'sitcom' may times, failing each time .( Looks lke I might have to rely on the lottery to make my fortune). It really is incredibly belief is that the best sitcoms are 'character' driven, rather tha situation or plot driven.

Only Fool and Horses has to be my all time fave sitcom. The ones with grandad in are the best, the later ones did get a bit stale. That episode where grandad unscrews the wrong light-fitting in that posh house has got to be one of the best comedy moments ever.

My favourite bit of Only Fool and Horses used to be the clip of Del falling backwards through the open flap in the bar whilst he and Trigger were eyeing up two girls. That's been replaced now......I nearly wet myself when I saw them running down that back alley dressed as Batman & Robin whilst the counciller was being mugged.

All time fave has to be Black Adder (agree with Mr Writer that the last epsiode of Goes Forth just as they prepare to go over the top - is one of the finest bits of Television ever)
I really could not get into the first series - a bit too slapstick. But when Ben Elton joined Richard Curtis for the second series onwards it really became classic comedy - but with such acerbic wit.
One that also srings to mind is On the Hour (the spoof news prog). It started out on Radio 4 as The Day Today (or that could be round the wrong way)
