So we live in Britian in the 21st century..
So tell me how comes we hear on the news about a little child starving to death and her brothers and sister are in a not to good a state...
So who is gonna be blamed for letting this happen?..
According to the news reports the neighbours reckoned the kids were eating the scraps of bread that they were puuting out for the birds...
So if they believed this was happening why didnt they report it to the police?...
well if they had reported it to the police the little girl might have been alive to day..
Well of course the local services are in the firing line and of course they have to be held to account for what has happened..
Me thinks that the family should have done something about it as well..they must have known what was happening in the house.
So why the hell didnt they say or do anything about it??
So if we are in the 21st century and live in a modern country ...
Why is this still happening ??????

words do fail me as to why or how but to the bit in bold - maybe the neighbours thought the kids were just hungry or playing a game i know as a kid i often used to snaffle the rhubard and pea pods etc growing in the garden we were well fed kids but it is something kids do, maybe to a lesser extent but it happens, my son has always been very underweight, (and hyperactive) Ive had lots of comments in the past about feeding him etc, truth of it is he eats more than me, never stops eating. Signs are not always easy to spot

Yes i do agree with what you are saying about kids looking underweight, even though they eat like horeses.
I still ask the question if the neighbours had an idea the kids were eating the scraps..
why the neighbours say something?..
maybe it due to living in the 21st centry not in spite of?
i know where i live i go out at 8am i return at 6pm.
i am then busy with house work, cooking etc etc. i dont now if my neighbours are in out what ever.
i like to keep my self to my self. i am friendly to neighbours but not friends with.
why are the authorities responsible here? other than in light of it they shuld have put measures in place to visit home schooled children? i heard they were home schooled, at a set age health visitors dont visit, no drs visits are complusory.
in my experience getting social services involved isnt that easy. not always their fault, they do what they can with the resources/ powers they are given
its very sad, and maybe the every child matters register will go some way to reduce this possibility?

As has been already said..words fail me too.
We all read the most horrid things on what seems a daily basis now but, the death of a child in these circumstances is so tragic. I hope the parents are held to account and made to pay for their " crime ", for that is what it is.
I say all the time that nothing suprises me anymore, to such a degree that if aliens knocked on my door and gave me a blow job, I would not be at all suprised. What a horrid world we live in now at times.
I hope that poor child is now at peace...makes me want to cry.

Maybe they didnt deem it nessesary, sounds silly like i said above maybe the neighbours thought it was a game and it is something kids do,
The world is a sad place at times, no child in this day and age should go hungry anywhere! Im so glad i wont be around in 30yrs time.... would hate to think what it will be like then! Cant see it getting any better..
Its no good relying (sp?) on Social Services to do the right thing...
They are a total pile of shite evil
Believe me I speak from experience (current experience)....
Too fond of storming in and taking kids away from parents who dont need to be taken away to look after the ones who genuinely need to be moved...
Too many boxes to tick to make sure parents have received all the correct forms of counciling(sp?) to bother going straight to the heart of the problem and address that instead
The parents are to blame. They are the evil bastards who did this.
Home schooling must be banned or strictly regulated.
Society doesnt help but when you are afraid of the consequences of interfering it makes it difficult to do anything. People don't speak to their neighbours any more, somtimes they cant as they don't speak the same language. .These people lived in an area known for drugs and gangs, it doesnt pay to try and help. Social services are useless and slow most of the time.
It is dreadful isnt it?
seeing that on the news the poor babe reminded me of the victoria climbie case where she was failed right across the board by the very agencies set up to protect her. it was said in government reports that it should never happen again. well they've just proved they are basically worth shit when it has. i hope she rests in peace the poor child
