Hi, biggrin
Recently got back from Amsterdam, again, and on their equivalent of Oxford Street there is a Sex Museum, going into practically every aspect of human sexuality and I mean every aspect, as graphic as it gets sillyhwoar: , a real proper museum, as far as I know theres even one in Shanghi.
Should we have our own, or does one already exist?? wink

I guess so why not smile , but where on Earth did you find the privacy in that place??? every inch is packed with tourists
I think that would be a damm fine idea. But what would be the best city / town to house it. Would it have to be London or could it be more central like Birmingham. Or could we look for a town with a appropiate name, COCKerMOUTH redface
Well, according to the Evening Standard last Friday, we're going to have a Sex Museum in London this year. It'll occupy the basement level of the Trocadero off Coventry Street. It'll be along the same lines as the one in Amersterdam/ New York and LA. I also visited the one in Amersterdam - very amusing - very educational. worth a few guilders (or whatever I paid). Can't understand why us Brits have always been prudey until now. I think a lot of us adults could do with serious sex education (STDs etc) so I have a feeling this Museum is going to do a lot more good for us than just titilate.
Why do we let the government play around with public spending in this way? After the Millenium Dome saga I have lost all faith in the ability of polititians to decide anything in the art world, or the education world for that matter, actually I have lost faith in the system all together.
Great lets give London something else. Maybe they should spend the money on helping education in schools where teenage pregnancy is high because of myths such as "you can't get pregnant if you do it in the shower". Also the ones who find themselves through no fault of their own (maybe, maybe not) and then find out they can't cope? Surely we have more of a duty for care to these than fishing out all the crap we have accumulated in the last century and putting it on display. Woo look an old condom, fantastic! Maybe we should be teaching young lads and lasses how to get hold of and use a condom properly rather than letting them wander round a museum with jars of pickled cocks on the shelves and pics you can find on the internet.
In short, sex museum, ok fine, but please don't let the government waste anymore money on over hyped and subquality exhibtions that go into recievership after having millions pumped into it.
Little Gem has wrongly assumed it's government money. It's actually 100% privately sponsored. The government (well Westminster local government) has always resisted a museum like this until - finally - now. I agree with your sentiments though. There's so much misery caused by ignorance and sexual myths. As Brits we are prudes which perpetuates our ignorance. I think the opening of this museum if the first major break in that chain. As I've said, us adults are pretty ignorant not just our kids. (When I finally talked to my son about the "birds and the bees" I swear I learn more than him!
This museum will obviously exclude kids from benefiting from the educational side of things as the licence only admits over 18s. But maybe you have a point Little Gem. Rather more important than a privately owned Sex Museum, if the government want to sink their money into something more beneficial that a Millenneum Dome, perhaps they could sponsor a U K Sexual Education Centre. A really hands-on, serious educational centre where 13-18 year olds can go (perhaps organised through the schools) and learn about the realities of sex, pregnancy, AIDS, and as you said, learn about the many sexual myths out there that have contributed to kids this age screwing their lives up.
