When I lived in Spain a couple of years ago, I couldn't find anywhere that sold Lilt of all things. They had a Tesco though so I was alright for everything else, even Irn Bru!
I'd miss the weather, we all moan about it, but it's part of being british, I always have to find somewhere to buy the sun when i'm abroad too, can't beat the english press. lol
What I miss depends on where I am at a particular time and what is available.
Here in Holland we can get most things including a good local pub - even the good old BBC TV and Radio, but in France, for example, it is more difficult to find a pub, English language papers/TV etc. Having said that I spent over two years working in the south of France and was very happy there.
I have however just arrived back from Scotland this morning and have a number of "Red Cross food parcels" for the local contents are basically the same for all of them:
Bacon
Sausages
HP sauce
Chocolate biscuits - virtually impossible to get Club/Penguin type biscuits over here.
I spent my time at home up in the hills of Perthshire in the country and that is something I do miss in Holland.
McC
wooohooo,,,heading up that way too today and going to bring back Irn-Bru and pork sausages,,,along with other supplies :P
BACON from my local butchers. Real bacon no water injection then over to the farm shop for real free range eggs..yummie
Chicken tikka massala
god yeah a true british curry with loads of beer
When I was in the states i did miss a good cup of rosie lee, good old Enslish breakfeast.
Going down the pub and having a decent digestive chocholate biscuits.
Baked beans
Granary bread
Manchester tap water
Properly built houses
Radio 4
Meridian yeast extract (like marmite but not quite as strong and a quarter of the price)
We find that when we are in Asia we can get almost everything we can buy here (altough Jen says I am sad for buying HP sauce etc. even though she eats it). The things I miss are the thinigs we can't get there:-
Good Fish & Chips
British sausages
Pies (although some of the Australian ones sold in Asia are not too bad)
oh and places to go Dogging ;)
Most other stuff is available in M&S, Tesco or the Expat supermarkets.
Jen on the other hand doesn't moan much about things from home (Asia) missing only the sun , good temperatures and her pat cats.
Oh man, it's gotta be the bacon and poached egg on toast, M'mmmm.
