14p on a bottle of wine
3p on bottle cider
55p on spirits
beer up by 4p a pint
11p on a packet 20 ciggies
petrol duty rise postponed until october
lower polluting cars will pay no tax from 2010
child benefit for first child to go up to £20
£2billion extra to be spent on frontline troops
same old then rolleyes
all I hear from politicans these days is 'blah blah blah blah blah'
He may as well have just run last year's budget on repeat and fucked off to the Common's bar for the duration! In the long run, it all means the average working person will be stung a bit more than the last time. The only good news on that list is the petrol tax increase is on hold ( for now  ) but we've already been shafted at the pumps as the price has risen weekly for the past 2 months.
Deisel is currently per litre round here. Not everyone can afford to go out and buy a new car just to reduce their road tax.
I know this is going to put a few people's backs up but why should everyone who has kids get a payout from the Government? I think it's time it was means tested.
As for the booze increase, binge drinking isn't going to be stopped by putting up prices.
H.x
Oh well looks like the same budget as it was in the last 10 years...
The working man get screwed again ...
And let me guess the rich man is gonna have to pay as much as the comman man .....

I still believe that it should be universal. I also think that years ago I heard a guy on radio 4 explain that it was cheaper to give the £ universally than set up the bureaucracy to meeans test it. Sounds right to me, not a lot of room for fraud either. Also as its there for all at least they dont get to play around with who is suitable for it each time they look at things again. Further to that as its every families entitlement then at least the 'majority' of jo public actually gets something.
Oh mind isn't it taken into account when working out income support? So I guuess for the poorest it is already means tested in a way sad

No allowance for the likes of me that ALWAYS has bought recycled cars. I've never paid these massive manufacturers to use precious resources to build and create all these new cars ......... admittedly only cos I can't afford it and a second hand car is the best I can get confused :? :? But still, I want allowances too lol

Nowt glam I'm afraid....will be staying in a mouse infested house, and shifting an antique farm cart from a muddy field onto a trailer.
However, with a decent 5L box of Merlot for around £6- I'll cope! lol And thats before we mention the scrummy cheeses!
And surprisedops: Thank you kiss
Just seen the major details on the TV...
Same sh*t... different year....
>>>>Feels smug, but slightly guilty about going to France tomorrow<<<<

Makes us feel kinda glad we jumped ship when we did. We recently read that around 500 people per day are emigrating from the UK.. We wonder why!!!
Sits back and takes a sip of Pinot Noir, lightly chilled, which cost them 4 euros a bottle.... :smug:

Got that in one!
The majority of us drive cars which are a few years old and bought second hand. We can't afford to upgrade every year to get the latest model in the lowest emmissions category so yet again, we get screwed!
and when was the last time you saw an MP driving to work in a 1L Ford Ka??

I listened to the budget today and I must say that Mr. Darling is without doubt the most boring man in the whole world!! He looks boring and by God he is boring. lol
I smoke and drink and drive a car so am stuffed on all counts. If this Goverment gets in next time I will eat my boxers..after they have been worn!!
It makes me laugh when they say " lower polluting cars ". They mean 1 litre cars, anything over that and you are clobbered. My car has a catalytic convertor on it and the emmisions are very low but....I am still clobbered because it is a 2.3 litre car. My emmisions fall into the " lower pollution " bracket but they are going on my engine size so, it aint about low emmisions. It is all about the size of the car.
Whatever happens in any budget you are always worse off than you was the month before. They would tax us to breathe if they could!! Bollocks to the lot of em!!

I do see what you're saying, it just galls me to know that part of the tax I pay goes towards giving a handout to someone who earns five times what I do merely because they have a child. The tax system is never going to be fare because the ones who can afford to pay more can afford to pay accountants to let them pay less.

Ok i'm slightly confused cause it say that cars that produce 130g/km Co2 will not pay road fund lience for the first years so is that on new cars only or does that mean i get one year free driving as my car is 129g/km confused
We've got a 1 litre fiesta...Im just wondering how long I can get away with squeezing a 14 year old man-hulk of a boy, a 10 year old, an 8 year old and a 4 year old in the back seat for family outings!!
no one likes paying taxes!!and we all moan about the cost of living but if you think this is bad just wait till the tories get back into power!!
then we will have reason to moan!!
did you know that the word tory meens thief!!!!
before getting rid of this lot remember the thatcher eara nad the budgets then!!!

It will just increase the "booze cruise" trips to Calais to escape the punitive tax... meanwhile, free-loading MP's will still be able to get tax free alcohol in the royal palace of Westminster which they take home in their "red boxes" for consumption off the premises..
And before long (if it's not happening already) in the Police no-go areas around Britain, people will be dusting down their highly illegal still's to make their own creations to avoid tax altogether.. because it will generate more cash than a certain type of cultivated herb wink
Meanwhile, in the Country areas, massive increases in Potato growing will be investigated with heavily armed SWAT squads.
And while Rome burns, Nero will continue to fiddle the Nations accounts
As someone else said in another thread recently, will the last person to leave please turn out the lights..
The truth is, there will be no electric on (apart from the Palace of Westminster and Downing St) so the need to turn anything off will be irrelevant.
innocent

Petrol, beer & fags always go up to get some easy money. The pensioners heating allowance is a bonus because we treat them like shit and they are the 1s that have paid the most and the child benefit is somewhat a good thing.
I say somewhat as in the back of my head I cant help thinking of the fact the UK has the highest teenage pregnancy % in Europe and all the silly boys and girls who now treat sex like a kiss on the cheek and it ends up with a council house and a good few yrs on the state with us paying because its to easy.
As for the carrier bag tax, sounds like common sense but who pays, no not the supermarkets who earn billions in profit but us as we have to pay 5p for each bag which is an easy cop out for the supermarkets to say they are doing there bit.
Bottom line is billions have been spent on hospitals, education and regeneration to name 3 and nothing has changed. Superbugs, crime rates rising, millions out of work and the simple cost of living goes up and up and up, green taxes, congestion charges, toll roads, Hip packs for moving house, lottery postcodes for schooling and NHS treatment, police drowning in paperwork, teachers hindered by pc politics etc etc.
And don’t get me started on immigration. And before people start saying things, I am far far from a BNP member and have no problem with immigration but take it back to the very fundamentals and ask yourselves why, that as we are all paid up members of Europe and all countries equal, all the other countries say no or have very small quotas when our borders welcome everyone.
I am sure I will think of more…..

wow alljustfun!and i thought i was a lone voice in the wilderness!!
as for your comment abbout the BNP I feel ashamed that I agree with them on so many points!
in the 70s I marched against them and......well thats history! now i find myself agreeing with their aruments!!
how i hate myself for it!! and loath and detest the PC squad that are forcing our country into the hands of such zenophobic natzi pigs!!!!!
hay ho I suppose thats what you get when 20% of the population elect our government!!!!
and less than 2% decide who we get a chance to elect!!
JOIN A POLITICAL PARTY AND KICK THE ARSEHOLES OUT!!!

There is still one thing he has not taxed.
Sex, or has he slipped that in, and I did not notice?

The tories will never get back to power as they have stated they will make all the feking scroungers work for their benefit money so that goes against the grain for all the wasters that Labour do their best to keep in the manner to which they have become accustomed rolleyes

My thoughts exactly!!
Lets be honest here and say that until the benefit system is over hauled, people will always want to come here for free everything. Free housing, free health care, benefits galore, christ we even paying millions to eastern European workers kids ffs. The benefit system is open to every scrounger there is, and the lazy work shy.
The supermarkets should be forced by law to stop selling cheap booze as that just fuels the booze culture we have, and the age of buying alchohol should be looked at. As for carrier bag charges, after a while the supermarkets will pick the tab up, as the shopper will go to the first supermarket that gets rid of the charges, so they will then all follow they earn billions of pounds why should the shopper have to pick up the tab? We are all being taken for mugs....and people are sick of it and things will have to change or,there will be a revolution on the Governments hands. Sooner rather than later. mad
