Dino you have too much time on your hands. Take HR Clubbing :lol2:
Steph biggrin

What d`ya mean? i think this is the best use for flies ive ever seen,
Ive got a full squadron of bluebottle powered Lancaster bombers flying round my living room as we speak smile
If you use wasps. they add a bit of colour to your model. Of course you have to be a little more careful when handling the little buggars.
Also, for the slower flying models, use crane flies (Daddy Long legs)
Some degree of control can be applied to the crane fly model if you fly it at dusk and shine a torch, which it will follow.
Dino
I love youq bust dkllk yo

Don't be silly. It's a proven aeronautical fact that bees can't fly. rolleyes

Tried the bees dave, they make fantastic V1 doodlebugs
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, ZZ, zzzzz,,sssssssssssssssss--------------------BOOM!!
Dino and his death defying flying insects .
could be on to a winner there mate   ..
I bet you used to cut worms in half as a kid  .
And blow frogs up as well
Dino , you are a very bad man smackbottom :smackbottom:
did you know, that when flies take off, they take off backwards so you will be in reverse most of the time? confused
sounds about right  lol

stick em facing in opposite directions on each wing and your craft should just fly round in circles....saves it getting lost. Why not expand things a bit and buy one of them household boxes of matches and knock up a hanger for em...with christmas just around the corner it could be an answer for parents on a budget...kids would love em, you get pets and a toy all in one.
Stick the flies on a coin and watch it take off and spin - your own mini flying saucer!! confused :? lol

The wasps make great single engined fighters, and if you put a blob of jam on the tail plane of thr bombers, the dogfights are epic biggrin
you is 1 sick puppy dino
but credit where credit is due your posts are imaginative
I think this should be in with the design classics thread
I like this Dino, an maybe if you stick a couple of maggots on as well, they could do wing walking

I pulled the legs off my fly before i stuck the little blighter to the match-stick plane, in homage to Douglas Bader :D
Brilliant idea Dino...

Would the music from 'The Dambusters' be a suitable theme for the aeronautic display?
Do moths work for night flights?
Excellent post Dino - and I know I am sick but it is soooooo tempting to try it. lol

:

They do, and even better, if you tie a tiny strip of white cloth around their heads, and set them off, they'll recreate the battle of Midway by making Kamikaze attacks on any vehicles passing your house
( if you listen really carefully you can actually hear them shouting - "Banzaiiiiiiii " as they fly in...)

OMG rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao: That was a definate laughing out loud moment - I have visions of squadrons of flying insects being glued to matchsticks up and down the country.
If you use a non-safety match and leave some of the sulfur on you can get a satisfying flaming effect after they crash into a wall.

You, me and many others Roger  ,
Perhaps a competition could be organised where we could fly our "models" against each other, hire an old hanger or summat
with different classes of aircraft etc
Single engine racing
double engine racing,
dog fighting,
barnstorming,
airobatics, the options are endless

or maybe in Blue Peter stylee we can make some fly-plane hangers from old shoe boxes, just cut out an arch shape on each end. Make a control tower out of an After-Eights box and an off cut of lino for a runway.
I'm going to enter my fly-plane in the "vintage" class... I have glued 3 flies to 3 matches and then glued them all together and painted them red, and to be known as Baron Richtofen's FLYing Circus

I am thinking of gluing some fleas to the base of mine - I can make a VTOL jet.
