I seem to go all weak at the knees when someone calls me babe. Why dunno especially if they are someone that i would consider swinging with. Maybe its because im a Londoner :karaoke: and alot of men use that term here, so im used to hearing it. I do see it as a term of endearment but was wondering which words or phrases other parts of the country use.
Which words or phrases do you use? especially when your attracted to someone. Which words or phrases do you love to hear?
louise ( babe to you) :giggle:
Hi Louise
There's something about 'babe' that makes me go all strange too!! :smitten:
Some of my swing partners use it and I love it. in fact my nickname with one of them is HRB (Hot Rockin' Babe) wink

Hya Babe wink
Each one to their own and it depends where you come from, different pet names have different meanings.. and I think you're going to hear loads on this thread, but personally if a man called me babe I would find it uncomfortable. I just don't see myself as a babe. I've never been one for pet names, I sometimes use 'hun' or little names like that, but on the whole I find pet names very condescending.
I'm a right stick in the mud aren't I? rolleyes
I cannot stand being called babe! Unless it's by Mrs Kiss and even then she is wise to use the term sparingly. lol
If a complete stranger calls me babe or hun I find myself getting irritated.
I do have a tendency to call women I find attractvie 'darling'. (Not to be confused with darlin) It kind of just happens and is meant in a caring way. redface
Anyway there are many things I like being called but I'm not going to divulge them as I know the information might me used against me!
Although my first girlfriend used to call me 'petal' or 'flower'. That was cute.

haha yes very funny, now get back on that :swingingchair: :rascal:
Hi babe! wink
That's an interesting question I reckon. I tend to be fairly careful how I use language, so I choose carefully which terms of endearment I use. Once I get to know a woman fairly well I sometimes call them "hun" (though not honey - that is reserved for Nicky most of the time.) One friend of mine I call "chica", which comes from a spanish term meaning "attractive in a cute way", or so I understand. (The masculine form is "chico".) One of my previous girlfriends I used to call "mon petit chou-fleur" which literally means "my little cauliflower" but she seemed to like it! rotflmao
I think my LEAST favorite term of endearment is "duck" which we tend to get a lot around here - it seems to be prevalent in the Derby/Notts/Sheffield/Leicester kind of area (we get a lot of tourists in Skegness from these towns.)

You would? Well I do say it in a nice way, not a greeting of "Alright darlin" but more of a "Take care darling". It just happens, I do actually try to stop myself. surprisedops:
I get called cute a lot - which is another irritation at times. I don't want to be cute, I want to be sexy or feisty or seductive but it always seems to come back to me being cute! Still it could be worse. :lol2:

Actually now I come to think of it I've been called a couple of things in the last week or so that I've rather enjoyed hearing.
I don't so much as call people certain words, I just tend to say what I feel/see. If somebody looks lovely or sexy or pretty etc I will tell them.

i hate being called cute too, i think of puppies as being cute and being as i am what mr 04 calls 'a bit goth', i dont think cute really applies lol. i call mr 04 babe but anyone else gets called hun (male or female).
funny how we have different little terms of endearment isnt it - but for the record, Babe is probably the one I dislike the most lol
I've noticed that on here, in text or pm etc I call people I'm familiar with 'hun' ...but its not something I say verbally much dunno Sweetie, Chick and 'Toots' (:dunno: :lol2smile are one's I say quite often along with Luv and Duckie which everyone else finds really annoying :lol2:
Dont call me Babe, save it for Louise wink

It is strange isn't it, I don't have any qualms about being called duck/duckie or luv etc.
Just don't call me babe! mad
*Ok ok I'll stop over reacting*
In Edit: I forgot to say also that I cannot abide being called 'dear' unless it's by somebody who is 70+ otherwise I find it extremely patronishing.
Oh yeah... and don't call me babe!
who is doing the saying goes a long way to how it mkes me feel.
I quite like being called babe
Well Hun or Hunny seems to be a term used most here and is one i use in general but there is one person i call babe, babes or bab which i do prefer to use only after asking her if she prefered it.
I use 'hun' or 'hunni' a lot to my friends but when a certain guy calls me 'babe' I go all gooey :inlove:
Sorry its a pet hate of mine....i will not use the words Babe, hun, love and darling on any women!
I like to use the word *dear* but only when I'm talking to male friends of mine, i dont know why

I find it extremley uncomfortable in using any words like that when im talking to even very good friends and only ever do it when talking to ex or my kids. I dont even do it to my best female friend.
Isn't Babe the name of a pig? wink
Sweetie rolls of the tongue with me but only with people I reeeeeeeally like.
One v. special person calls me cariad, which melts me - because it's her.
.
To me, babe is a piglet in the film of same name. Here in brum im always called bab which when you think of the accent is a horrible term
Dear is deffinately patronising from a younger person
Darling can conjour 2 different visions, .....with the cockney accent, a la Ed Stewart on saturday morning radio,Hello Darlin, or in a frightfully posh voice, oh I say darling!
Doll is so sixties and sexist
Hun or hinny.......Aw haway, whay aye Thelma pet
Luv, luvvie, my lovely.........theres lovely your looking today isnt it
My Precious....sinister
And for my Dearest Darling Rachael..........Princess xxxxxxxxx
Terms of endearment, how sweet

My Precious is only really considered sinister because of Golem and Lord of The Rings
