I'm English and up the other end of the country, but I did spend three years as a dodgy student in Cardiff.

well it seems a popular place but i just never went there, my ex did, but i used to go in the city arms instead before going on to other clubs lol

It may have changed since I last went, but based on my experience it was pretty cool. I used to go to Rock Inferno on a Tuesday night. Cheap Brains on draught, reasonable music, and relaxed company.
There's a fair few students in there but it's not normally packed with them, or at least it wasn't when I used to go.
