right is it just me or do the forums seem to move so much more slowly that they used to before they split the cafe up?? :fuckinghell:
is it that just not as many use them anymore or is it because they are all seperated??
i know some didn't enjoy the current affairs of just for fun threads but i do think they kept the forums moving much faster
i want to campaign to bring all the forums that left the cafe back in as i think we have lost many posters due to it being split as like me they can't b arsed to keep moving back n forth round the various forums
if you don't enjoy the topic don't open it then it can't offend your sensibilities there has been many a thread i have never opened as i didn't like the subject matter
so here i stand alone so far with my placard saying "reamalgamate our cafe"
it could just be swingworld in general, its starting to bore me to the point of considering walking away from the whole thing. Might just be me but something seems to be different over the last 12 months
I agree with you there Meaty, it does feel different to the point where i sometimes wonder what we are still doing on here dunno
I used to enjoy the chatrooms too but even they have changed somehow.
Sorry to hijack the thread

Bouncy you're totally right. The forum is too fragmented and the categories seem too random. Also can't help feeling that it would be better in alphabetical order. At the moment it appears to have a hierarchy but it makes no sense.
The quotes above sum it up for me though. The new site is much more colourful or "prettier" as most people describe it, but what this has to do with design is still beyond my understanding. The thing that irks me is that most of the problems, in both the forum and the chatroom, have not been addressed.
Sadly, although there are a few new and interesting ideas, the site is fundamentally the same as it was before, but with the addition of more colour. Sorry.

I beg to differ. I love the forums being split. It means I don't have to read other's vitriol day in day out.
I can stay in here and read more or less fluffy stuff with a bit of swinging stuff.
The site works well and the support system resolves issues really quickly. I would suggest that if you have an issue with the site that you do actually put in a support ticket and await a response then you may just find out that things improve.
I think there's a general apathy across the nation at the moment, and that's bound to reflect in the tone of the forum. It's cold, it's perpetually rainy, (many) people are broke- it's just not conducive to a randy, happy, busy forum. I also think that there's more of a move to people posting in related groups on facebook too- conversations that would once have been had on here.
It all contributes to a slower forum. I for one get an idea, log in, and say something along the lines of "ah, bollocks to it." I should make more of an effort- we all should if we want to invigorate the place.
I too like not having every thread being the same tired diatribe dished out in a different direction each day. I barely ever go into the Just for fun arena, and occasionally have a peek into the Currant Bun bit, inflict my two-penneth & move on.
Note to self: must try harder.

I can relate to this. I'm a member of a lot of (non-swinging) fora and the general "vibe" is similar. Peoples nerves are strung out, and it reflects in their posts.
Hopefully, it will get better over time.
Maybe if some more people nipped into the Introduce Yourself forum and encouraged new posters to get involved with The Cafe etc we'd have some new posters? dunno

I am not pointing the finger at any one person in particular here, but many of the regulars here are not the most welcoming of people, Just my personal view

actually... I believe the Intro's forum shouldn't exist.
People would have a far better chance to say "hi" and get a little banter going quickly in here... and immediately be 'active' in the forum.
The Introce Yourself forum, as an idea, has already segregated newcomers.
One could posibly feel that it would be 'wrong' to pop in here without saying 'hi' over there. Be INCLUSIVE.
lp
(as for the forums being slow... sorry)

but thats half my point with them posting in a whole diff forum it gets forgotton i mean i never go in there in fact i didn't know it exsisted till very recently like i said i must walk around with my eyes shut
if they were still in the cafe they would get a much bigger response

In ore of the Godlike Bouncy worship
i think i would prefer it if all the forums were together cus some forums i simply never look on such as the one for new ppl and the fun one, i might look at more threads if they were all together !
every so often you get threads on all types of sites saying that "its not the same" ... "its altered" .. "its not so much fun"
trouble is that things do alter and new people come along but then the oldies get bored or they get bored of the new people or the new people soon get bored of the oldies etc
thats life smile
this site is no different to any other site and sometimes people will get bored or find the site boring
