I copied this from another thread not my words
"I think some kids can be born evil, it could be in their Genes from day one".
I would have to disagree, I don’t think any child is born evil. The reason I say this is the mind is so complex and even a very small child’s mind can have thoughts or feeling that they are unable to control or understand. They don’t have the resources to communicate their true feelings, fears etc. If we can’t read our own child and pick up at such a young age something is wrong, and we reassure them, some of these thought in children can fester and grow.
So I believe until such times we can totally understand the mind we can not say some children are born evil.

I believe their are many other factors involved, although knowing the amount of mutters I do, my definition of the word "evil" might differ from yours. So when I say evil I'm talking about the Fred West's and Ian Huntley's of this world. How could they possibly have been born like that? I would wager that something of a seriously dark nature ocured during their childhood, and that was combined with serious problems with their mental developement. It's the same with puppies, if you are cruel to them but reward them for being aggressive they grow up into vicious dogs.
Sorry, that's the best I can do, I don't really want to understand such "people".
you would have to spend a wee while debating what evil is first..
its not quite as simple as you may think..is evil the ability to do bad things or is it something a little more disturbing.. eg someone that gets a kick out of murder ..are they evil or are they mad? i know courts look at this when sentencing but to my mind you would have to be mad to murder.. so
can kids be born evil..no idea as i dont think i understand completly what evil is,, too deep for staggy
This sounds suspiciously like a Nature/Nurture debate....no-one has answered this question for many years and the arguments still go on but it is generally accepted in the professional world of Psychology that it is approximately a 50/50 split......the debate still goes on and will do for many decades.
Evil is a man made concept. Without 'good' there can be no 'evil'. It is acts or behaviour outside a pre-defined social boundary that we all live under and is scaled according to the severity of the deed beyond the social threshold currently held. It must be noted that this threshold changes as time passes due to changes in social complexity.
Personally my views are that we all have the potential for 'evil' - it is how we are educated/taught to control this potential that is the crucial item in life. With a lack of control evil or bad behaviour is evident in all sentient society.
I realllly need to get out more rotflmao

Children are not born evil its the parents that make them evil or dont have the ability to stop them being evil.

How can you stop someone being evil?
In Edit - how does a child know what is evil and what isn't?

So if the parents or guardians or the authorities don't have the ability to stop children being evil - why then do/could they become so confused

oh its the old nature versus nurture debate lol
Im not sure about being born evil but i think being evil is something thats within you, i personally dont think its your up bringing, some kids have terrible childhoods but still make decent human being and the other way round, the vast majority of killer are from normal house holds with good partents and whos siblings lead perfectly normal lifes, maybe a traumer in child hood could trigger off what ever makes people do these things but it has to be there to start with other wise every child who'd had a bad upbringing would be killing and
only my opinion tho lol
I remember watching this documentary once about this kid who was really evil. Some people put it down to his "destiny" others to a particularly particular birth mark.... It sent shivers down my spine watching it... And now I would never ever ever call my child Damian lol
Difficult question Minxy. I used to be of the opinion that a new born babe is white as the driven snow. A Tabula Rasa / blank slate, and if that child becomes evil, then it's because it was taught to be evil by evil parents. confused
I'm swinging towards the idea that we are all actually animals, with animal instincts, and we will act exactly like all the other pack animals out there. Some animals seem to have a sense of the common good but I think the common good is taught by mothers and fathers with sharp teeth and sharp claws, against their offspring's inate natures?
I'm kind of thinking that we have to be taught how not to be evil. At birth, we are selfish survivalists, and pretty much 'red in tooth and claw', and I think the pack socilaises them, and teaches kids how not to be quite so evil, for their own good, so they can survive in the pack. If some of the pack animals turn out to be evil little fuckers, is it the kid's fault, or is the pack's? dunno :?
It still all comes down to nurture fighting against nature, but whether kids are born evil, or left to become evil because the pack can't be arsed looking after them? I think it's a slightly different emphasis? :?
Too complicated for me at this time of night TBH.
N x x x ;)
Well there's some evidence that autism for example is born in.

I cant think of any reason why socio-pathologies shouldn't be.
Additionally I believe in natural mutation/selection so I fully expect some people to be born with brains wired differently and sometimes I expect that wiring to impact on their ability to develop a socially acceptable personality.
I was born evil. But I learned to be good cool
