This thread instantly made me think of a girl I used to chat with on another chatroom when I was at college. She lived in Essex, I lived in Darlington. We were SO determined to meet up but the travelling was too complicated. I told her EVERYTHING. I confided in her about something that happened to me (I don't want to go into it) and never told anyone else. It ended up in me and my mam arguing and got very :scared:
She offered me so much support, both her and her mam, and even rang me up the next day cos she was worried about me. Just as well she did really, she probably saved my life.
U know, there was something on the news about "cyber friends", Im sure it was the news. It said that ppl are more likely to open up as it's just someone sat at the other end of a computer somewhere and it's not face-to-face. The person explained it far more better than I just have
I also travelled from Darlington to London, on the coach, to meet up with a lad from this same chatroom and stayed at his flat where he lived with his bro, sis and mam. I went down twice I think and had a great time while I was there.
So yeah, I do think u can trust people over the internet but as in real life, it all comes down to the individual person.
