But ....really ?? Would cat owners really keep the horrid smelly things in their houses overnight ??

I'd keep my pussy indoors with me.
only taking her out on a tight lead.

Have you ever tried to follow a cat to be ready to pick up their shit? Buggered if I could manage to leap up over the fence and crawl through the undergrowth to find out where his favoured dumping ground might be (most self-respecting cats won't void their bowels if you're watching anyway)! Except my cats seem to prefer to use my own garden, and the rest of the day when they aren't eating, they're sleeping in said garden or indoors if it's raining. They don't even care if another cat encroaches on their patch of paradise, so much for being territorial rolleyes And round here, bloody dog owners let their animals roam and do what they like, where they like cos it's the countryside.
Our cat stays in at night, loves his comfort. Out during the day, if we are around, and happily keeps the local mouse population down...oh and the odd starling!
Where he "toilets" I have no idea but as said earlier I am not going to follow him to find out, lol
As for dog owners, well the "we will have two ferocious dogs and let them roam the local streets so they can attack cats" around here, don't get me started. evil
See, now by the fact that you called them "horrid smelly things" I'm going to put my neck on the line and guess you're not a fan?
Apart from the fact that it would be bloody impossible to follow a cat on it's daily rounds, most cats tend to bury their crap. Dogs should be on leads - hence it should be pretty easy to mop up after them.
What gets my goat is that it's illegal to run over a dog and leave the scene, yet you can mow down any old moggie at your leisure. How is that fair?

(We have 3 cats :P )
would they be allowed out on caturday??

Pmsl you're fitting right in sexonfire :giggle:
They have cat curfews in Australia. In some parts if you have a cat - it has to be a house only puss!
In some areas feral cats are culled on a regular basis.
Main reason is because of vulnerable (stage before being classified as endangered) bird species like the Lyrebird that live in the rain forests. In some areas there has been an slight increase in population because of the cat curfew/culling.
I've just the one cat, he's a hell of a mouser which is good, and has caught more than one bird in the garden which is less good - I'll go running out and grab hold of him so the bird can get away but usually it's too late by the time I've seen him ...
He's a funny one though, most cats won't go out when its raining but it doesn't seem to bother him too much. He seems to stay out overnight half the week and indoors the rest, and the little sod will be meowing to be let out again at about 5:30/6am!

... And by the by ... why do dog owners have to pick up the dog shit, while cat owners are allowed to let their pets shit all over the place ? ...

Bit difficult following a cat around wink but don't worry, we get to deal with cat poo from other peoples cats ...

I was listening to the radio this afternoon and somebody suggested a cat curfew during the nesting season to protect our wild bird population.
He was hoping that it would be voluntary !! rotflmao
But ....really ?? Would cat owners really keep the horrid smelly things in their houses overnight ?? I think not !!!
And by the by ... why do dog owners have to pick up the dog shit, while cat owners are allowed to let their pets shit all over the place ? dunno

MEOW.....I love moggies..cough I mean pussys wink
They do em for cats as well dunno
I've got two cats, one who stays in all the time and uses a litter tray, and the other likes to be out in all weathers, and I only see him when he's hungry so I am not going to search the whole of my area looking for his muck! When he does come in, he uses the tray....
I take a friends dog for a walk on a saturday, and hate going in the park, or even on the pavements nearby as a lot of owners don't clear the c**p up... It's even worse when I take another friend who is blind out... I have to watch everywhere we walk... at least cats bury it!!!!

Unfortunately they don't. My front lawn is used as an open sewer by a number of local cats. Imagine mowing with a flymo and the effect the rotating blade has on a fresh lump of cat muck.
when they do bury it it has to be in soft soil - the kind recently dug in a garden border. It takes weeks to break down - so as soon as I go in weeding or planting stuff I get cat muck smeared all over my trowel, hands and knees. That is disgusting, stinky and dangerous. Even wearing gloves is minimal help - unless I have a box of gloves by my side to be replaced each time I get a handful of crap.
Unless a cat has been cleared of disease and kept indoors ever since - there is every chance it is carrying and passing on toxoplasmosis or other infections/parasites.
Oh I do hope my cat pisses off my neighbours as much as some of you seem pissed off with cats.
I seem to have solved the rat and bird problem too. As all of the cats we have had caught large rats and birds and brought them in live to be admired. At which stage the rats disappeared behind the walls and lived a life of luxury from then on.
With this cat we have her catflap set so she can go out whenever she wants, but is unable to come back in so has to meow at the door to be let in. As soon as she opens her mouth to meow, whatever she has caught escapes. As there isn't any point in catching things that her human pets can't admire she just doesn't seem to bother anymore. No evidence around anyway!
Besides there is nothing that warms the heart more than this angry little face peering through the catflap with pitiful meows to be let in. And she never fails to say thank you when she does get in. At least that's how we choose to interpret it. lol
