What would be the point? It's a free site ( assuming I understand Losty's clue correctly? ). Are they gearing up towards commercialising then? I don't use it BTW, I wouldn't know. I expect a flood of PMs from hot and horny women responding to my completely blank single male profile on some of the more dubious pay-sites out there I've ever looked into ( cos that happens aaaaaall the time on swinging sites, doesn't it? :lol: ) but a fake profile scam on a free site doesn't make a lot of sense?

I have traced 72 fake profiles, 14 probable fakes and another 9 suspicious by association which I suspect all emanate from the one source. These are the ones I could establish with the data at my disposal, I would expect there would be more following hidden pointers. Only 16 of the fake profiles found have been suspended.
More than half of the suspect profiles have pictures with only 2 of them having common ones. It would follow that the miscreant has collected his picture stock from elsewhere. Deeply disturbing all round!

This was after we had sent the owners a strongly worded letter with the details and reminding them of their obligations!

The profile at the top of the pile ran a fake party scam across Nov/Dec which we got stung by. Because of the lack of cooperation from the site I started digging deeper. The breadth of the fake profiles has minded me to believe that there might be more than that to it but don't know what. A number of the profiles have been active on the site in the last week additionally...

Witch hunting is best left to zealots imho Cubes. I am coming from a community information angle and think it is important for people to be aware. Knowledge is good!
We can access all area on said site with the exception of forums, which we have been given a life time ban for putting forward our point of view which didnt agree with a moderator, think the people who run the site need to take a look at some of the sites that have been around for many years and see how it should be done.

Your assumption is partially correct Neil, Yes the site in question is free to join and you can use it for free too but it is a commercial site owned by a limited company. It generates revenue from 2 streams, advertising and a "site supporter" package. Any one who rocks the boat or frightens the punters doesn't seem to last long.
The scam in question could have been perpetrated on any site even this one. It just happens they chose to use the other "popular" site. The fact it's "free" just makes it easier to re-invent themselves and do it all over again.

Agreed Tricky, it could just as easily be played out here using the same system. It would be more difficult but perfectly feasible.
I have had a sweep around as would expect it to pop up in some form on any equivalent site and haven't seen any of the signatures. Bottom line is never pay anything up-front however sound the mechanism looks.
Thought it might be helpful to post an update about this as the party season fast approaches and it looks like all is in place on the other site to clean up again.

Before, the locations of the fake profiles were spread around the country. Now, most have been changed to show a location somewhere in Scotland. But, on the other hand, as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Would advise all users of the other site to be extra vigilant and, trying to avoid stereotyping, all Scottish users to keep their money in their pockets.

Do you know, I've never even considered this to be an issue. I have regularly used dating sites over the years and I knew that this 'Fake profile' thing was an issue there, But on the swingers sites too? Maybe that's my own naivety I guess. It stands to reason I suppose. Id used dating sites on and off and you can generally detect fake profiles at various points along the way, and if need be, swerve it. But to think this may have been going on on the swinging forums too? God only knows how many hours I've wasted chatting with fake people over the 8+ years I've been online!!
I'm sure though, that most have been genuine, and some I definitely KNOW to be genuine :rascal:

this company has many so called sites covering all areas of adult interest and most of these sites offer a free 30 day introduction period where you can chat,browse profiles and of course send mail.
the thing you notice about all the sites is that in your 30 days you will get hardly any interest at all then once your 30 days are up out of the blue the most attractive women only miles down the road will start messaging you and your personal email box will be overloaded with links to the mail.
but you can only access them once you hand over the cash. and thats the trick and they know plenty of men will hand over the cash at that point,but once you do your done for.
because you never get a reply from the so called interested ladies who mailed you before as they are generated bots to bring you back to the site and make you part with the money.
this company advertises one of its site on tv late at night and also will appear all over the place on website pop ups.
ladies get all the sites features for free yet couples and males pay full price.
as for the other 'free' site i think your on about i also got a lifetime ban from the forum as i went up against a friend of a mod and they didnt like hearing the truth.
best forgotten about to be honest as ive done better since.

The problem with that Site is that moderation is reactive after complaints and if, in the forums, you antagonise people they can effectively get you banned by posting multiple complaints about your postings.
It is absolutely ok on that site to post offensive, abusive and racist comments about the outside world but if you question the motives of the poster and enough people complain about your post... You, not the cretin, gets banned.
What is the scam ?
You surely cant break any rules by pointing out scams in the world, you don't have to name, names or sites, but you can warn people what to be wary of.
For example I heard about a party, cant even remember what site it was on I am a member of loads.
People sent (yes they did) deposits to attend the party, the party was then cancelled and a new date put forward, those that could not make the second date asked for a refund and got no reply, the second date was subsequently cancelled and the profile that organised the party closed.
The most basic of scams I thought, I certainly wouldn't send a deposit to someone simply advertising a party, personally I wouldn't pay more than a tenner to go to a private party at a house, why would anyone want more, yes something to cover damage or wear n tear might be in order, but unlike clubs, they don't have insurance, income tax, adult venue tax, staff wages, rates and the like to pay so they don't need the same entrance fee as clubs to.
Also going to a private party is legal, going to a "private party" where you pay an entrance fee in any format means that it comes under all sorts of laws and regulations.
I can get in my local club for a tenner on a Friday or £25 on a Saturday with all its facilities, most house parties have very few facilities.
If I have an accident at a club that was not my fault but the fault of the club I am insured under the club insurance, I can live without that at a free private party but if I am paying I want to be covered.
Clubs are safer, their hygiene is inspected, fire checks are carried out and so on, that is why I am willing to pay to go in them.
Finally how do we know that this post is not the scam, in that it could be this site trying to deter people from other sites, not for one second suggesting that this is the case and I believe the opposite, but if we are talking about scams .........
I know one club that uses such tactics to stop people going to a club nearby, it is quite common in business, even British Airways got fined big time for such a scam.
