Hi everyone,
I am doing a freefall parachute jump on the 21st August in aid of CancerBACUP (although I am terrified of heights AND aeroplanes!!!). This charity is one quite close to my heart as I had a hysterectomy a few years ago thanks to the big 'C' (and I'm only 29 now!) All is OK now though.
Now I know that I have only been here for a short while, but, you will come to realise that I am very cheeky but I thought that I would jump straight in there with both feet! lol
CancerBACUP is a charity very similar to Macmillan. It provides care and support for cancer patients and their families. If anyone is interested in visiting their site, the address is
Enough rambling - I'm getting as bad as DB!!!! The point of this topic is that I would like to raise as much money for this charity as possible so if anyone would like to sponsor me to do the jump, please let me know.
I am (so long as I survive the jump!!!) coming to the NW munch in August (which is the same day as the jump) so could collect any sponsorship money there. Anyone wishing to sponsor me that is not going to the munch, please PM me and I will give you an address to send payment to.
I will get some photos from the jump and post them here for you all to see!!!!!!! (That is if you enjoy seeing someone being sick and wearing brown trousers  !!!!!!)
Please just take a minute to think - Cancer affects 1 in 3 people - could you spare the price of a pint to say thank you to all those who give their time and effort to support the patients and families. Please don't think that I am trying to emotionally blackmail you but I never thought that I would find myself in this situation either!!!!!
I'll happily add to your collection at the NW munch.
Thanks for choosing such a worthwhile charity.
We don't normally allow posts from women looking for money for a jump but..............I'm sure we can make exception in this case! biggrin
I'll be happy to give you a donation at the munch as well.

Hi Carrie Ann, i am new to this site, and what you are doing for the charity takes some ball's, i served with the armed services for a number of years and jumped out of a few bloddy plains ( why? as the could land ok!!) and it takes some amount of currage, PM me with details of the charity bank details and i shall meake a donation.

For those of you requiring bank details of CancerBAUP, I will get them asap and post them here. Thanks.
Hiya CA, i think what you're doing is a great idea, unfortunately we cant make the NW munch but we're prepared to sponsor you or make a donation to the charity!!
Count me in as well CarrieAnn, biggrin :D , Mind you your gonna need a big hand bag to carry all that dosh home. :D :D
Hi, CarrieAnn
I look after cancer patients who have lost the battle you won. I take my hat off to you for doing TWO brave things: fighting the disease and not giving in AND doing a jump. In the words of Gunnery Sergeant Highway in Heartbreak Ridge (played by Clint Estwood) 'Jumping out of a perfectly good areoplane is an unnatural act'. Go for it babe, and if I can make it to the munch, I'll chip in.
Looking after terminal patients inspired me to fullfil one of my dreams. I want to lie on my deathbed thinking 'I'm glad I did that' and not 'I wish I'd done that'. This being the case I have taken up paragliding and love it, maybe, when I am qualified, I can take you up!
Keep up the good work babe.
Dixon.

Have you considered setting up a sponsorship page for your jump on ? It allows peope to make donations to your charity by credit card and they pay the funds directly to your chosen charity. It even tracks how much you've raised and allows donor to post comments. The best part, though, is that they manage the GiftAid scheme, which means that any contributor who is a UK taxpayer automatically has their donation increased by 28% (at no charge to them)! My partner's involved in a charity effort on behalf of the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre and has been using JG to manage donations since January (you can view her JustGiving page ). It's an easy way for anyone to create their own unique charity event!

P.S. I just logged into the JustGiving site and confirmed that CancerBACUP is definitely among the 450+ UK charities they support.
Really good cause to be supporting. Lost My aunt and grandparents to the "C". Will be happy to contribute at the NW munch. Support and best wishes for the Jump. Go Breavheart!

Good for you E Mail me with an adress to send a cheque , dont forget to say to whom its payable to.
Your a brave girl, I hate planes and the thought of jumping out a perfectly serviceable plane with a sheet strapped to your back , you deserve a medal ! ( dont forget , take some clean panties with you, you might need them !!!! )
