But happy slapping is something completely different..... as happy slapping is idiots hurting complete strangers......this is idiots hurting themselves.....so if this becomes the new trend......i for one say them get on with it......

sorry but i just likened happy slapping with the people on the film...........i thought i made that clear..........
and i really hope that you don't mean what you said above about letting them get on with it.........
I totally agree with you here Pk, I didn't find it funny at all, it scared the shit out of me, what happened wasn't funny, and the fact that they were so stupid wasn't funny either.
I don't think it's fair to say that 'they should know better', some people really just don't realise the consequences to this kind of behaviour, and that's not necessarily their fault.
It may appear like stupidity, but some kids really just won't have the skills to be able to see what could go wrong, and their life experiences have only ever taught them to follow the crowd without thinking etc etc...
I realise i'm rambling cos i'm slightly pished, but when you compare something like this to 'jackass', it's no laughing matter.....

What?!
As you said hun, we're all entitled to our opinions, so also just putting mine across and showing Kate that I agreed with her as not many others seemed to, just did it a bit later than everyone else!
I can see where you're coming from as well, just reckon that these kids don't have the intelligence or insight to understand the danger and stupidity in that, and yes they are stupid, completey agree on that, but they are just kids, so don;t think they are entirely to blame.............
anyway , come here and gizza big snog so we're all happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

We can't learn evrything in life by being taught and sometimes we have to fowl up to learn. Also it's not just the young who have to learn this way.

I agree.
All of us have done stupid things in life and some still are doing stupid things.
We are all guilty of been too quick to jugde acts such as this one and as parents non of us can be entirely sure what our kids are getting up to when out of our sight. All we can do is hope we have instilled a modicum of common sense into them and hope they dont do stupid things such as this when we arent around.
Thankfully my child is grown up now and I dont have to worry so much, but it doesent stop me worrying entirely, Im a parent afterall. There but for the grace of god......and all that.
Society has changed so much, and in my opinion not for the better in many ways. When we did stupid things it wasnt a patch on what the kids get up to now. Society has a lot to answer for.
I think what got me with this clip was not so much the idiocy of the 'men' involved but the girls instead. It truely shows how young girls ( not all mind you ) will be so besotted with a boy that she'll go along with anything to impress/keep him. Come on girls .... develop your own personality.
To think this is the future generation that will be looking after us when we are using a walking frame!!!!

Fuck me......now everyone's quoting their parents! lol

that's much scarier than the piccies of some dumb feckers being thrown out of a roundabout with a scooter attached to it ain't it?
the thought that i have turned into my mam? gimme gravel in the swede every bleedin' time! ;)
kate? it's ok to laugh at complete fuckwits, especially when they're on youtube for millions to see, cos hopefully other fuckwits will point and laugh, and think "get that back wheel off my roundabout!" the complete feckin' stupidity of others is a learning experience! ;)
if it wasn't for complete fuckwits, just how would we feel better about ourselves, or realise that being thrown from a roundabout at a zillion miles per hour isn't exactly sensible? a bit like watching someone toss themselves off beachy head, and realising it might not be a clever idea to run off after them? confused :P
the events already happened, those girls probably got hurt to some extent, whether it's a grazed knee or a broken head, whether it's on camera or not. the fact it's on camera, and we're wetting ourselves laffin' might be useful in the long run?
shit happens! my 11 year old cousin has a motorbike! what de'you think i'm gonna be showing him sometime soon, and explaining the REAL consequences, despite the laughs! ;)? ;)
;)

right.....i 've been told not to post here again,,,,,,,but i have too.........
the point i'm making isnt about the people involved as such............but there agqin it is cos i want to know if they're ok.............but more so about the phenomenom that is going on at the moment about filming people being hurt whilst filming............. confused
i just can't sit here and let it be encouraged............as i said it's an extension of 'happy slapping' and it shoould be stopped asap........
or should we leave people to it and let them decide............
Me and Shaz both agree with you poshkate, it wasn't funny at all.
I look at this 2 ways.
When them girls got on that round about they would of either been thinking.......
"lets get on it, we will spin real fast, it will be a giggle"
or
"lets get on this roundabout so as it will spin us that fast that the centrifugal force will propel us in an outward motion maybe causing us harm or even death"
Its obvious what the answer to that would be!
I can see where poshkate is coming from, like us she was sensitive to this video, she seen it and it affected her enough to wonder if there ok....... nothing wrong with that is there?
Come on peeps, these are kids, like we all was at that age, there daft and don't sit and think what could happen....... and they probably didn't even know what centrifugal force is or even it could be that strong it would force them to let go and throw them out.
And i don't think this along with all the other stuff like this should be on the internet, I just find it distasteful... and 1/2 of the time the people in it probably don't even know its managed to get on the net sad
Anyway, thats my piece said biggrin
Tony wink
it seems that this debate is still going on...and its interesting that the split here seems in the main to be by gender.
surely the girls knew there was a risk attached to this stunt?............hence the reason they were holding on before the roundabout got going?
i dont think that the family and relatives of those girls feel half the sympathy that some of you have forthem.... and id go out on a limb and say that the girls themselves probably blame themselves or the person that might have "egged them on " to do it... if ofcourse they blame anyone at all.
Whilst you still have programmes like jakass and bam bam (or what ever its called) you'll still have idots doing stuff like this and filming it, they watch it on there then go out and copy it

you should post on here.....that is the point of a good debate.....just so long as it doesn't get out of control.
Let them learn the hard way......its the only way it will get through to them.....
and to anyone who has been a victim of happy slapping....if the idiots are now harming themselves......i'm sure that victim wouldn't be bothered by the change of direction.

If the person who owned the Scooter was one of the two shown, he should know better. Old enough to drive so old enough to accept responsibility for his actions.
He had the brains to pass a test (maybe) so he also had the brains to sus out the danger of thier actions. He was not a young kid he was an adult idiot and for him and his mate I would feel no sorrow.
The young girls just played "follow the leader" and possibly told its OK just a piece of piss.

We have a really clever child, he is so smart the school struggle to keep up with him at times and yet the kid has no common sense at all. In real life, he is a fLucking idiot and drives me nut!
Honest to God we have a child that would be stupid enough to do something like this because he wouldn't give any thought to the consequences.
You can't presume someone smart enough to pass a bike test is smart enough to realise the dangers

I hadn't even clicked on the link nor bothered with this thread as I've been busy this weekend (for once) but I've just had to have a peek to see what all the fuss is about and alll I can say is ................ FOOKIN HELL..............
For something to make me jump back in my seat the way that did at the end it has to be bad. I know some will see it as kids being kids and prehaps even getting their just desersts. The thing is as long as some find amuesment in watching this crap it will always happen. Now I know some of us found it hilarious but a while back there was one of these style vids on the net and in the papers where 2 people filled 2 of those strip light tubes with petrol lit them and then played star wars light sabre style fights with them
The end result was quite horrific as you can imagine and they ended up with serious burns when the things exploded and covered them in burning petrol. Now I know the end result of these stunts is differant but the mentality behind them is the same and i'm sure if you saw the 2 light sabre stunt kids lying in hospital beds having been burnt from head to toe cries of serves em right for being stupid wouldn't have been said.
Ok, maybe I'm the stupid one, cos I got such a shock, cos I sat there watching, with no incling that would happen.
I may be blonde, lol but I would take a guess that I was slightly more intelligent than them, having got a university degree, ( which involved doing labs with centrifuges btw....) and them just being school kids, yet I still didn't think something like that was going to happen.
I did think it was going to end in some sort of disaster, obviously, otherwise why would it have been posted, but it never crossed my mind that it would be something so horrendous as that!
For all the people who could obviously see what was going to happen, they're probably the ones that find it hilarious, but for me, where my job involves me picking up the pieces of things like this, it wasn't funny one bit, stupid kids or not!
ok last post on this honest!!!!!!!! i can feel the daggers in my back already wink  biggrin

I have no problem with your comments but you say (^^^^^ up there) Child & Kid.
If you are old enough to take a driving test (as I said, maybe) you are an Adult not a child or a kid.
I am sure your child will grow up to be an adult and take responsability for his actions.

I'm really struggling to understand the passion of some of the posts in this thread.
Not knocking it, just struggling to understand it.
Is it that it happened, or is it that it was filmed and published on the interwebdotcomthing ???
My own personal opinion . . . .
If it's because of the filming and publishing . . . . well. that's just the teknologikal age in which we live. Isn't it ? The same as we as kids would have relayed and re-counted to friends and peers by word of mouth dunno
If it's because it happened at all . . . . . again, just my opinion, but isn't it just kids (of whatever age) fuckin around ????
I can only talk for myself, but I'm sure lots of people here, and anywhere, have pulled strokes that would make your hair curl.
Stupid strokes
Funny strokes - if only to those involved
Dangerous strokes
Downright irresponsible strokes
But . . . . .
One thing I've always believed . . . . .
If we all stopped to consider the consequences of our actions, we'd actually dovery little.
As to this individual action - someone above said that they doubted the kids would have thought "Hmm, let's get on here and do this to see how dangerous it can be, or whether we can hurt/maim/kill someone" - rather "Let's see what a giggle this could be" - or more likely - they didn't think about it at all. It was an idea, and they just went with it.

Very true. But what gets my back up are the morons who won't take responsibilty for their actions!
Way back in my day lol we were, in a lot of ways, the same as kids of today - done some right stupid and at times, out and out dangerous stuff. If it went wrong (thankfully never too too wrong), you picked yourself up, if you couldn't do that you got carted off to casualty. Once dusted down, you were ready to go again, the only thing you had to put up with was the constant ribbing by yer mates ........ until someone else done something stupid and your stupid thing got forgotten.
What I'm trying to say, is that you done something stupid, you picked yourself up, dusted yourself down, soothed yer sore arse where yer parents walloped you for being so stupid, and took a damn good ribbing. You accepted it was stupid and took responsibility for the action!
But this day and age, becoming more and more like the American style 'Suing Nation' - it just ain't practical to take any responsibilty for your actions, or for the parents to make the kids take responsibility!!
Why take responsibility when you can so easily sue someone and make some money mad Take Neils 'light sabre' kids up there ........ wouldn't surprise me if they sued the light company because it didn't say "Do Not Fill With Petrol" on the packaging rolleyes
The roundabout kids there....... wonder if they tried to sue the council for having a dangerous roundabout? Not a "do not put mopeds on roundabout to speed it up" sign to be seen, how slack of the council, how were the kids supposed to know??
They don't accept that pure curiosity and stupidty are to blame...... why should they, when they can make a few grand...... regardless if it means having the playground shut permanently for being dangerous.
Until people start taking responsibility for silly, stupid, dangerous, idiotic, outrageous behaviour, then this world is gonna become a v. boring "sign 4 thousand discalimer forms before leaving your house" place to be.

well i hate to sound like an "anorak"... but on the basis of the clear evidence.... they wouldnt stand a chance of mounting a successful claim...imhlo
claims for damages ( and accordingly, to assess liability ) must be measured against certain clear "rules" as created by Case Law.......
rather than going in to details and boring the pants off you all... ill just say......... they wouldnt stand a chance of sucessfully suing, ON THE BASIS of what this video shows.
however, they might be naughty and say that their injuries were caused in some other way... but that WOULD be wrong.......but not unheard of....
thinking about it... the moped owner/ the two guys could be prosecuted ( if the CPS had the balls to run a case that might fail)
it has been said that " the law is an ass" but on the whole the British Legal System is pretty good........and accordingly pretty fair.
The police are now hunting the guys with the motor bike, this is what we found in our local paper.

well that certainly is " hot off the presses"
it'll be a costly investigation for no real gain...tracing, interviewing..... im not sure theres even an arrestable offence committed.

I was reading about it in a local free paper this morning while sat in the dentist's.
Apparently the girls landed on the soft foam rubber floor covering that is prevolant in many if not all public playgrounds these days..
Park rangers are being briefed and some authorities are toying with the idea or removing roundabouts in a bit to stop this practise..

What is wrong with people...removing the roundabout will not solve the problem. This mentality really gets me angry. Nobody talks about removing cares because people die in car crashes. Instead they make shore that people are qualified to drive.
We are no longer children that blame the object for our failures, we are adults that should know better than to place the blame in a dead object.

Which was what the whole point of my last post was about, albeit a rather exaggerated post.
For the sake of some peoples stupid actions, everyone else has to put up with the, sometimes ridiculous, consequenses.
While there at it....why don't they go ahead and pull down the entire playground...in fact all playgrounds across the country.....wonder why i have no sympathy for these idiots...who ruin it for others.

who is most stupid?
people in power, with good educations, that believe that getting ride of roundabouts will prevent the problem
or
teenagers who probably missed out on allot of schooling.
I say the people in power, so instead point your dislike to them.
the story has also made the BBC webnews too I see !
