not sure if i am looking forward to Christmas, i am working the actual day itself.
i like get togethers, both family and friends and go to as many do'd as i can but not a huge party animal.
Mixed blessings this year.....we were away for Christmas and New Year last year and as glorious and wonderful as it was, I want my Bucks Fizz breakfast, traditional lunch lasting about 4 hours, a nap and the Christmas comedy reruns......along with several days of Festive bubble 'n squeak to follow!
On a more serious note, Harry and I have spent Christmas on our own for the last 12 years, both our families are hundreds of miles away in opposite directions. But the first thing I would do, every Christmas morning ( even from Jamaica ) was phone my Ma & Pa. It's just another milestone we'll have to pass, having lost them both this year and will make it a very poignant time for us.
Anyway, back to more cheerful topics....we don't go overboard with decorations etc, but I make a point of having some lovely flowers, foliage and winter berries round the house. I take out all my christmas frustrations in our office. It is the height of sheer tack and majorly over the top with garlands and tinsel all over.
I make up a Christmas compilation cd, put it in the car and play it top blast at every opportunity, just to annoy other drivers waiting in the traffic jam.....which gives me an idea for my first thread...........
I hate the fact that you are virtually forced to like Christmas. I don't like Christmas. I have my reasons. When I tell people that I don't like Christmas I am made to feel like some sort of scrooge. Like it is abnormal to dislike Christmas. Actually it isn't abnormal and it can be the very worst time of the year for a lot of people which is why the suicide rate increases at Christmas.
But try and explain to people and they won't listen. I have had my desk "sabotaged" with decorations at work and when I removed them it was looked upon as being the worst thing I could do.I give in now and smile and pretend to join in with the "fun".
I look forward to Boxing Day - it means it is over for another year.
