OK Guys, listen up -
My suggestions:
1. You all pm me your current weight in pounds, or in stones and pounds, (no kilos please) on January 3rd or 4th, and I will add that to my little spreadsheet here, but I won’t make it public without permission.
2. Each Monday you mail me a new weight and on Tuesdays I’ll post all weight loss results? Or just winners and wooden spoons, what do you think? Either way including the amount lost.
3. Programme lasts for 13 weeks and ends on 4th April 2005 unless there’s a vote to extend it.
4. New people can join BUT NOBODY CAN LEAVE!!
I think we should take pics for our personal record but not post them unless we want to boast how clever we have been.
I think a formal meet afterwards is unlikely as this is countrywide, but we can certainly revisit it if there is a desire to do so.
These are only suggestions, anyone on the list please comment, anyone who wants to go on the list please comment, those who are not interested to join, please don’t comment! It’s our party.
This is who I’ve enrolled so far (assumed from yesterday post).

This sounds like the kind of motivation I (i.e. Jack) could do with so count me in.
Why not Kg? I don't think in stones and ounces. Decimal is your friend smile

I did the spreadsheet in pounds to make it easier for me, so I'll Ieave others to make the conversion if they're decimalised. But if there's a vote for kilos I can change it, just don't want to do both!

No worries smile I'll get it to you in the format you need.

I can offer a personal scale reading service for the short sighted. (They'll need to be short sighted to ask lol )
Right here's an idea Chaps and chapesses,
im sure there are some of you who who would rather not disclose any infomration about your weight in open forum, be it how much you weigh, how much you have lost or much you have god forbid gained redface
I propose a % system whereby Musketeer will be the only one who knows in real pounds and stones how much you have lost or put on over the weeks and he will express it as a % of your initial disclosed weight.
This way it is more of a fair run race because for example, over 4 weeks of dieting i could loose far more 'weight' than for example marmalaid, but when expressed as a percentage of our original starting weights we may be equal - this is because it is easier to loose more 'weight' the bigger you are to start with.
the only down side to this is that the % figures will be pretty low and may be perceived as a little less than encouraging but if everyone is measured in the same units it is still an equal challenge,
What you reckon?
I agree that a % system would seem fairer. However, rather than just a total %age weight loss, how about PMing Musketeer a target weight for the end of the 14 weeks together with the starting weight? That way a %age of that target can be displayed???
M
I'm up for this too. I have a very good reason for losing weight now as I have to have an operation (I'm not ill but I need the op) and would rather not go under general anaesthetic while I'm so overweight.
I'm in agreement with those who've said they'd rather not have their weight disclosed but by the same token, I don't really want to receive a wooden spoon award if I've lost the least or gained the most redface
Will send a PM with starting weight at beginning of January Musketeer
well it looks like we are going to have the fittest skiniest swingers in the country on this site
thats if we all behave
it will be fun trying but im not sure if i can resist stella i have an affair with her at least twice a week
but it is a great idea and you can show my weight to everyone it might give me more drive to cut down

I was thinking about this earlier. WW reccommend you aim a for a loss off at least 10% of your current weight over a 12 week period.
Many of us want to lose fair bit more than that, but that's a healthy start and anyone who does better deserves a snog off everyone. lol
i have no problems with having my weight on display - a few of you already know what i look like anyway so it's not a big deal to have bum/tits/legs converted into pounds and ounces. I appreciate others might not feel the same so I'm happy to go with a majority vote.
Can you please remind me to get weighed though? I'll make the effort to use the same scales everytime (probably the type they have in Boots - they seem pretty accurate) and can give you the data in both Kg and pounds and ounces.
Good luck, everyone!
I'm also happy for anyone to see my weight - It will just spur me on all the more to get it back to something more respectable.
I'm also happy to provide before, during and after pictures to add that extra incentive!

Yep agreed Marya. Most clubs now encourage members to aim to lose 10% of their body weight (assuming they are overweight to start with, before I get flamed for that lol) because there are really good health benefits as soon as this amount has been lost. I could bore for England on weight loss as I used to run classes for a well known Slimming organisation. And keep it under your hat, but I still have the scales from when I did so I know my weight will be accurate (not something I'm looking forward to finding out at the moment sad)

i just had to run and get the calculator i figure im in trouble now 10% means 21lbs thats 336 ounces
i have quite broad shoulders so i think my job is going to be holding the rest of you up at the bottom of the list every month
it will save on the engraving on the wooden spoon anyway just leave my name on it
lol

Good luck, everyone!
But 21lb over a 12 week period works out to less than 2lb per week. Doesnt seem so difficult when you work it out like that does it? Or does it? I dunno lol dunno
its easy to loose 2lbs a week if you pretend every week is your first! and attack it with the vigiour and determintation you need to, but when reality kicks in and your into your 4th week without a macdonalds or whatever your big no no is then thats when it hurts, and motivation is the key to doing it
Edit:
all theory btw lol
I'm definately up for this but what hapens if your a person who doesn't eat a lot of takeaways and does exercise regualrly?
Does that mean I'm gonna have to work even harder lol
I tried the slimming world plan not so long back and found it easy to lose weight on, thing was I was always full (and I hate that)

I will send a reminder to those that forget.
I think 10% would make me very happy, that would be 1 stone 4 lbs or something near.
edit - Oh Bugger I used up my 500th on that one!
Hello, yes i was enrolling provided i can do the whole "shit yourself thin" diet, lol!!! will have to invest in some scales for xmas methinks!! and i'm quite happy for you to make my weight public as well!
Hey I think this all sounds like a good idea. I'd be delighted to loose 10% in 12 weeks.
I don't want my weight to be public (since I suspect I may be the heaviest) but I'd be happy to e-mail the details and have them presented as either lbs per week lost or a %age of target loss.
Sounds like a good plan comming together
CQ
This sounds like a fabulous idea!!!! I'm happy to be a part of it....I was going to slim down after Christmas anyway......so now I can do it with some support
I'm happy with it being made public how much I've lost per week but not with my weight being made public.....
Oooooh it'll be good to be proud of my body for a change :bounce:
smile
please count me in too confused
I am in all the way folks!! I would like to lose at least a stone and a half before the scottish munch.
