This is a personal thing to me but I have to agree with Fem_mancs here, I wouldn't even consider playing with anyone who has any kind of attachment to their genitals or genital area, permanent or otherwise and I would run a mile if they were unknown to me. This could be a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria or worse, especially at parties or other group gatherings where several people may be involved in sexual activity. Even on a one to one basis its just yet another risk factor. For me it needs to be clean, neat and trimmed down there. The less stuff there is, the less chance of anything lurking around. I also find it visually off putting on a male anyway. I repeat its a personal thing and a hygiene issue to me. The only possible exception would be a female piercing on someone I knew to be very particular about her own personal hygiene.
