Would like to have been present at the first performance of Beethoven's Choral Symphony in 1816 - in the presence of the composer. Wow! surprised

Oooooo classical stuff, I hadn't thought of that. biggrin
The first performance of the Ballet 'The Rite of Spring'. It caused a riot.
one of our biggest regrets in life was not going to see queen play live.
oh yes forgot LIVE AID really wished id seen that, was very pissed of at my brother as he got tickets for himself but not me. Think it was a case of getting fed up with little brother coming alone too.
Maybe re phrase that to younger brother as i have always been taller than him lol
For me it's Prince on either the Sign 'o The Times or Lovesexy tours.
Seen him a few times, and he is an amazing artist to see live, but having got the concert dvds of both of those tours I know that they would have been awesome.
And Marvin Gaye, 1980 Montreux Jazz festival - again, seen the dvd and he gives an incredible performance.
Was lucky enough to see George Clinton and the P Funk Allstars in New Orleans in 1998. To have seen either Parliament or Funkadelic in their prime would've been amazing too.

Seen most of the bands mentioned above (and mostly in their original incarnations), other than Led Zeppelin...my Mum wouldn't let me go to Knebworth as I was only 13/14 at the time, even though she let me go to see bands at Birmingham Odean/Wolves Civic etc. at that time sad
Pisses S off massively that I saw Queen 3 or 4 times and went to Live Aid smile
Wouldn't even entertain seeing Queen with Paul Rodgers (Paul Rodgers is just a blues singer, Brian May can't play the blues, so hardly a marriage made in any heaven, other than a financial one !)...they should have gone out with George Michael, who was the only singer that really pulled it off with them at the Mercury Tribute Concert (in my not so humble opinion ;))
Some bands have been a massive disappointment though... The Stones at Ashton Gate in 1980/81, Queen at Wembley in 1986, Dylan at Wembley in 1983/84
I always find it's best to see bands just as they're about to become successful, rather than when they've made it. Saw Guns 'N' Roses at Manchester Apollo in 1987 and they were fantastic...next tour, they're doing Wembley Stadium and the leap was just too great !
Wish I'd seen Fleetwood Mac (original Peter Green lineup, or when they first got together with Buckingham/Nicks)
Shouldn't really start me on bands/concerts/music...and a friend of mine will be along shortly, no doubt ! :)
Looking forward to seeing The Police (if i can get tickets and they're not Madonnaesquely priced !), Crowded House and Porcupine Tree again this year though.
now had to listed to my Led Zeppelin back catalog
ahh that gives me

Wham!!! bolt
Only kidding.... Adam and the Ants, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club, Duran Duran, nearly all of the 80's I guess. Most didn't really split they've just got older and don't play so much. Europe is playing in Newcastle shortly, that should be good
Does any one wish we could turn back time 20 years?
Oh and what ever happened to Tight Fit? haha
lol

I m with you jaymar, although had the chance to see duran duran 3 years ago and they were awsome!! made even better by the scissor sisters suppoorting them (before they were so well known)..
Europe played in Bristol last week, although i dont really recognise many of the songs...apart frm the obvious one that is!! biggrin
i would love to have seen frank sinatra..and i would still love to see tony bennett but again dont think i will get the chance...
And i think i agree with the rest of you in terms of bands...Queen would have been amazing with freddie..

Not at Wembley in '86 they weren't ! Started great, then turned into a pub band playing crappy 50's covers and the very worst of their 'pop' years.
finally had time to sort out all my paper work since moving out and what do i find :
my 2 ticket stubs
Monsters of Rock 1991 @Donningtin Park
Saturday 17th August 1991
AC/DC headlining
ahh memories cool
we have been lucky and have been avid concert goers from the 60s and clapton, hendrix. floyd days to the present with meatloaf and the current headliners,
but our one wish would be to see Elvis .....
I posted this on another thread some time ago, but I'll bore you with it again
The band I most regret missing is The Clash though I did go to a Clash gig 1n '77 - The White Riot tour- as a 13 year old boy. Just as they came on stage I was hit on the back of the head by a bottle and the next thing I knew I was sitting in the pub kitchen with an ice pack on my head and could hear brief muffled clips of Joe Strummer whenever anyone opened the kitchen door. Never got the chance to see them again until they went downhill.

Hmmm.....female presenter that did the recent programmes on wainwright's sodding walks was pretty fit!! sillyhwoar:
I love a good gig the bigger the better and have seen a few in my time from Queen, santana, springstean, Tina turner, Robbie I don't need to like the band to see them live now but I did years ago, so I passed on Zepplin, Micheal Jackson, Rolling stones, now I wished I just went instead of turning up my nose when others I know went.
If you were not at The Albert Hall on monday then YOU missed Joe Bonamassa. shame on you.

Only one- Queen, with Freddie
yep we should of gone too
As for ones missed, then has to be Led Zeppelin
In answer to the postings re Thin Lizzy - seen them several times, done 2 back stage parties with the boys (brill, hic, inc once at Belle Vue with Geldof and Fingers from the Rats) and when watching Sky Arts the other week when they had a Lizzie concert on was spotted in the crowd.
Pink Floyd, twice, plus last year (2008) Roger Waters Dark Side tour.
Missed Fleetwood Mac, however cloest nowadays is Rumours of Fleetwood Mac - ace tribute band and v v close to originals.
Speaking of Fleetwood Mac, early 80's did the Santana UK Tour, consisting of 6 night's at the Royal Albert Hall. 2nd encore was with a certain Mr Green guesting on guitar - brilliant.
Loads more, just where did my youth go ........

I'd love to have been there, his radio show is more entertaining than most things on the radio.
