I have started a new thread as this is varies from the other 2 that are puter orientated....
I made a HUGE mistake today......... I downloaded Adware onto my pc and it has screwed it up beyond belief.....
I had downloaded it before and it did the same thing but then I discovered a virus so attributed the problems to the virus.... Foolish me..... Now in defense of Adware, we have it installed on Steve's puter and it works like a dream but for some reason my puter does not like it...
I am now getting the annoying box coming up telling me that this system has recovered from a serious error and to report the problem by clicking on this button.... So I do that and an internet explorer window opens and tells me that it is a driver error and they have no ****ing clue how to fix it.... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
And then to top it all, it doesn't matter how many times you send the report to Microsoft the pigging box comes up again and again....
I have also got another problem which is that if I try to uninstall a programme it tells me that it is unable to open file and wont uninstall anything!!!........
I have done a Norton scan and it shows no virus's but I just get the feeling that there is something that is in this system but I cant find it....
So far I have tried to restore my system to 5 different checkpoints but I still keep getting the error messages.....
So to all the techies out there...... HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:upset:
From a limited technical point of view....
I'd take it to the top of a high building and smile sweetly as it plummets to earth at an acceleration rate of 10ms2!!
Sorry, that's how frustrated I get when the puters screw up. I've got Adaware as well, also Norton, and they both work OK.
Probably one of the more technically minded will be able to offer better practical advice....

Well another fine mess lol,
If u have a virus or a bug no matter how many restore points u move to it will still be there.
If boot up in safe mode(press F8 as the machine boots) and then run an up to date nortons Anti virus then it will find a virus if it's in there.
Also if u go to (Nortons Home page) u will find links to a free system check from them. It is hidden but u will find it and the benefit is that they will check your system online for u free so it is the most up to date check u can get.
Also if you go to the AD-Aware site it will tell u how to totally remove it from your system.
Hope this helps if not come back and we can try something else(sometimes a hammer works lmao).

Shireen,
without knowing exactly what happened, it sounds like adaware was run before updating the reference file, and that it has removed some files that it shouldn't have, assuming you ran it.
Adaware logs everything it removes, and also enables you to recover the files that it has deleted. If you open up mycomputer and goto the adaware folder, typically C:Program FilesLavasoftAd-aware 6Logssend me any files found in this folder, and in the C:Program FilesLavasoftAd-aware 6Quarantineyou should find a file ending with a .bckp extension. If you email these files to me, i will look through it to see if it has removed any drivers, etc... that it shoudln't have. My email is on my profile.
One suggestion here - copy all the important stuff off the pc onto Steves or a CD - then restore the PC using the factory restore CD that came with the machine. Then reinstall all the stuff you need again and then create a ghost image onto Steves machine so it only takes you a few minutes to get back to that point if you ever bugger it again.

I've had no trouble at all with adaware...one of the best pieces on the f-kin 'puter..
NOW, after running norman anti-virus....what a load of crap that was.
I'm still putting the registry back together
....Or you could point a search engine to find Spybot search & destroy. Download it, update it and let it fix it for you. It's one of best at this sort of stuff and I find it works really well.
Have fun....
ok - doing a system restore will very rarely restore someit you have deleted...by the sounds of it - u have contracted a virus which has either deleted or corrupted some system files. If u use the system restore cd from manufacturer (bad idea) you will lose all files / emails / info etc on ur pc unless u back it up first. run cpl of diff AV utilities - eg..mcafee, panda etc, also check for trojans, dont bother with error reporting - disable it - doesnt do anything. from what u saying re uninstall - ur registry is corrupted as well - cpl ways to do that - dload a good reg cleaner - if need one pm me, else if u know regedit then clean manually! All else fails - good backup and format, then reload windows always works!!
Need any help - pm me by all means
Hi Jags.....Waves and Kisses to you too.
Love the new avatar... 8) 8)
Hi Shireen,
It does sound like you have just deleted a registry that shouldn't of and that the ever so reliable (not) restore feature of adaware has failed its job. It may of needed to do an incremental restore instead of going all the way back to the beginning.
Which system restore are you using? Is it the one that XP uses? Or is it the adaware? Just checking.
If you don't want to ghost everything over to Steve's puter, then just make sure you have a backup of important stuff and reinstall your operating system over the top of the excisting one. This is a temporary solution but at lesat you will be able to un-install things again.
It can be a long procedure installing every bit of software back onto your puter if you do that method, and I personally flatten (format) it before installing the Op system.
