Looks like it's going to be a good one.
Thought I'd resurrect this thread in order to pick the collective SH brain a bit.
I'm currently planning my first tattoo - I'm torn between a knee to ankle sleeve on my left leg (possibly extending on to my left foot if I'm feeling brave), or an upper arm sleeve on my left arm extending on to the shoulder. Either way it's probably going to be something fairly dark and not too complex, so it shows up through the fur. I'm very tempted by some of the tribal-style stuff I've seen, possibly with a celtic/norse theme.

Cant help ya with local recommendations hun, but in my opinion I'd go for the upper arm sleeve extending to shoulder  - black tribal is always pretty damn sexy on a guy (IMO) - but, the Norse theme sounds good - originality counts wjen it comes to tatts.

Well in the medium to long term I'll probably end up with both, it's more a question of which one to do first. My lower legs are considerably more toned than my upper arms, but they're also a much bigger area to cover.
I'm definitely going to go for an original design, if for no other reason than it's difficult to find ones big enough to work on me. I need to get the books out and start looking for suitable reference material - the Norse theme was suggested by a pic I saw online somewhere of a black tribal-style picture of Odin riding his eight-legged horse. It looked like it'd been lifted from an illustrated saga or something like that and looked damn good.
Whilst originality is good, sometimes copying can also be cool - an archaeologist mate of mine has a copy of the shoulder tattoo found on the body of a northern-european barbarian queen preserved in permafrost (the one that's on Discovery channel a lot).

Wow - now, my 'thing' is tatts that have stories behnid them - it may not be an 'original' as in the first one ever done ever ever. .....but, as ideas and inspiration for tatts go, that's pretty damn original if ya ask me!
I'll have to do some research biggrin
