I see this so often, so if you don't want anyone to know in your profession? why mention it?
It's a bit " we are/ i am a professional person" what's this got to do with meeting?
?

Ask the people who write it?

It is a perception that by stating they are a 'proffessional' (deliberate misspelling)it shows they are educated, have a good salaried job and are in a position above the minions who work beneath them.
Of course this is just my opinion, there are a number of people who would not consider my job to be as a professional, but I do approach my job professionally, but it really does not make a difference to me, as I am more interested in the persons mentality and character, than their profession and earning capacity.

Be very careful when seeking a professional. Last time we sought one, he turned up in a MkII RS2000 and had an horrid bubble perm.

Is it wrong that I have this bookmarked?

Wouldent it be easier if they just used a swinging pseudonym and didn't reveal their real job. Ive known folk do that in the past.

Always makes us chuckle when you turn up to a meet and the first words are 'Hi we best tell you now our names are not................. They're actually................. Hope your not annoyed that we decieved you'
Our stock reply 'Oh we're used to that by now, no problem, this is Bonnie & I'm Clyde' lol.
The last couple we met couldn't remember the false names they gave that was fun to watch them trying to figure them out before they gave up lol
As for the 'professionals' never really taken much notice, all we care about is A: Are they a laugh, B: Do they both want to play & C: Are they any good at it!? Lol
We once had a single girl contact us and she realy wanted to meet us but she bluntly refused to let us see any pictures of her because of her job. We gave her loads of options: MSN, email, text, etc. It didnt matter how many times we told her that we dont meet without seeing pics she just kept telling us that she was a woman and was good looking but couldnt let us see any pictures because of her job.
How bizzare!!

So that's what Clare Short has been up to since she stood down as an MP after the 2010 general election :giggle:
The thing is, the big bad world out there isn't exactly understanding of this lifestyle and fairly or unfairly makes judgements according to their beliefs. A lot of people new to this scene are very wary of this and also perhaps not realising that discretion is a "golden rule" and part of being a swinger.
In the jobs I've had until recently I was very public facing and working as a contractor so didn't really relish the possibility of being recognised "on the Job" or at work for that matter wink as it could have made life very awkward. Of course, as I've gotten more into the scene I've relaxed a bit and am quite happy to send pics to genuine people.
In summary I'd just say they were nervous and asking for reassurance.

GOD DAMM PREMATURE EJACULATION!!!!!
I think loads of people care about their privacy, and loads don't care ... in this day and age it's nice to think that society has less taboos than it used to - shame we're not there yet though.
However, I can get quite put off when someone says "professional" on a profile ... I often read it as being quite aloof and snobbish ... like "if you're not a professional too then you're scum" lol

I got told that on another thread, I put professional on my profile years ago without ever considering that it might offend anyone. I'm certainly no elitist and I don't like people who are. It'll be coming off when I get round to rewriting my profile. After all some of my best friends are "scum"
I don't think "offended" is the right word ... after all, if we earn money we're professional in some way ... but I could see it as being "out of my league".
I remember once getting blown out by someone, because my job was not 'professional' in her eyes.
My income meant I was earning decent money, better than some of the occupations she classed as professional, but because part of my work attire is steel toecap boots and not a shirt and tie, I didn't fit her criteria for being classed as a professional.
It was her call, I hope she found what she was looking for.
We have professional on our profile and it's staying there. We are professionals, both of us. We're a long way from being snobby or think anyone is beneath us, so why shouldn't we have it there? If seeing someone having the word professional on their profile offends you, or makes you feel inferior - thats your problem and something you really need to address :-?
It's also there partly for us to try and deter the "you free this afternoon" brigade (not that it works! rolleyes)
*Her*
I don't really get the relevance to be honest... not all professionals work a 9-5 job so daytime fun could be a possibility.
I'm not sure it makes people more appealing to me on a site like this. Perhaps if I was looking to date someone, then it would be important that they weren't unemployed but when it comes to looking for someone to fuck, their profession doesn't have any relevance to me.

It's not a case of it offending me or making me feel inferior, it is just that some see it as a label to suggest they are on a higher career path, when in actual fact, professional is an approach or method of working, rather than a vocation.
Oddly enough, I've never felt the urge to put 'craftsman grade 1' on our profile.
I think it all depends how you define professional too ... I was a professional photographer for a while, but I never had a professional qualification, I just got paid well for it.
I tend to see it as an anonymous general purpose description now. ie that it means you shouldn't question the identity, because the title effectively says nothing.

On a photography forum I am a member of, the subject of how do you define a professional photographer crops up often.
The general consensus is if someone earns the majority of their income, or earns their living from photography, then they are considered professional.
There are some who earn well from it, but it is a secondary income, therefore they are considered lucky to earn from their hobby.
