No I don't think you're misunderstanding. I think the point is that the mind is an errogenous zone. If the mind is stimulated and aroused you will not be physically attracted to them.

I have had sex with people I've not found attractive, yes. Very rarely that person has been so "talented" it's been good sex. However, it's very "empty" sex.

I used to work with a guy who was an identical twin. I got to know his brother socially, but I definitely had the hots more for the guy I worked with. It was all about the personality
I wouldn't be able to shag someone purely on looks, they'd have to have the personality to push my buttons too but at the same time I couldn't have sex with someone whose personality was fab but did nothing for me physically. I'm just too darn fussy - maybe that's why I don't have sex very often
