.....Catherine Tate!!! banghead :banghead:
Nope! I am not kidding (sadly!)
Apparently, Martha Jones (played by the gorgeous Freema Agyeman  :twistedsmile has been sidelined to make way for Ms Tate playing 'Donna' - sorry, that should probably be "Donnahhhh".
I don't normally watch television, except for the news and a good drama or comedy when there is one (not often! rolleyes), but I really got into Dr Who series 3 and looked forward to seeing how the Martha Jones character would develop in Series 4. Now instead we are going to have the insufferable Ms Tate for a full 13 episodes while Martha will only make an appearance half way through the series.
I know that Dr Who isn't exactly serious, high-brow drama - or even particularly good science fiction - but it was harmless, fun entertainment. That's another innocent Saturday evening enjoyment ruined!
Will sad
But Will......
Am I bovvered? dunno

Grrrrr!!!! mad :x :x
At least it will be easy for the scriptwriters to write the dialogue:
Dalek: Exterminate! Exterminate!
Tate: Am I bovvered?
Or
Master: I am going to take over the universe and end the human race!
Tate: Am I bovvered?
Does anyone else think that this is going to be a complete disaster?

Hi Will
Well some good news been onto Dr who website and Martha Jones will be joining mid series i hope that helps you and yes i also watched Dr who for the whole of series 3 mad and also enjoyed Martha too
Wayward1 xx
Apparently, Marha will be in the new Torchwood series and that is what will keep her out of the first half of Dr Who. Still doesn't help me deal with what's-her-face though!

well with a bit of luck...if Kylie enjoys doing the Christmas Special...she might come back for series 5.
Hmm, not sure how Catherine Tate will do (although she wasn't bad in the special), however, I never took to Freema- just thought her acting was unconvincing.
I hope she plays her in the Nanna role! rotflmao

Imagine facing the Daleks?
*Exterminate!*
"How very dare you!"
*You are a slave of the Daleks!*
"Who sir, me sir, NO sir!"

i don't think it will...Doctor Who has some of the best writers...and Catherine Tate is actually quite a good actress ,not just a comedian!

As for writers yes they are top class other than Russell T Davies. Not saying he's bad just the worse of the crop

When's the new series of Torchwood pretty plz
Wayward1
No way! I'm not looking forward to that then - I didn't enjoy the episode with her in it!
But then again I loved Rose & wasn't looking forward to Martha but she was great in the end (IMO).
Anyway David Tennant's still the Doctor so I'll be satisfied - total crush on him at the moment!
Doctor who?
lp
well... come on... somebody had to, didn't they?
Let's give Catherine a chance to show what she can do lol

I thought Catherine Tate was good in the christmas special so I'm willing to give her a chance.
What about Sarah Jane Smith- she's gorgeous and was brilliant when she came back for a one-off..

I would've thought the appearance of Kylie would have consumed all such disappointment.
.
I do beleive some people need educating - my terms are in the post smile
As a fellow student of drama at Middlesex (ok, maybe a year or two earlier) I just hope that the divine Martha prospers

Dr Who's sidekick indeed :x
Quote by varca
Who is Catherine Tate? And I am serious.
I don't watch TV, well very, very rarely but I did happen to be in the room when Dr Who was on the other evening. I was pleasantly surprised by how I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next instead of hiding behind the sofa like I used to do as child :lol2:
I found myself thinking that I may just watch the next series and so I am now curious as to whom Ms Tate is and why she could, potentially have an adverse effect on this programme?
Ahhh, Varca! Hello again, by the way wave
How I wish I didn't know who Catherine Tate was. Like you I don't watch much television so, I must confess, that I haven't seen much of her own show. It's just that every time I HAVE seen her she has irritated me and has never once actually made me laugh.
Fearing that I might simply be an fogey I asked my 14-year-old step-daughter what she thought. Her verdict?
"I can't stand her, and neither can anyone else I know. She just isn't funny."
My faith in the youth of today was quite restored!
Will
Complain, complain, complain people!
We the undervalued of Great Britain pay for the services of the BBC and need to express our distain for the casting of complete and utter useless windbags as major roles in much loved drama/sci-fi series.
Too long have we gone quiet about putting lack-lustre comedians in place of talent because they're seen to be the 'in thing' for the moment. Do they not know Tate's moment has well and truely passed and will be soon staler than Peter Kay covered in manky three month old cheesey wotsits? dunno
Obviously not! evil
If anyone else feels like being a grumpy knickered one, here is the website for commenting to the beeb on their poor choice of Catherine Tate in ..

... or for anything else really! lol
Little (call me Wogan) Gem. x x x ;)
yes but hang on - has anyone seen her in a straight acting role?
I did see the Dr Who that she was in, and, tbh, I thought she was a bit pants, but I also thought the same of Barbara Windsor in her first East Enders and janice Battersby in her first Corrie.
I do think there are other people I would rather see as dr Who's assistant - I reckon i could make quuite a good fist of it lol but maybe we will be pleasantly surprised at Caterine Tate.
