The site appears to be dying on its knees, any one else agree watched it happen to other sites before any ideas why?
Lots more people using the forum to moan, makes it negative anyway.
I get what I want from the site, so I'm happy.
I don't agree that the site is dying, it's certainly changed greatly over the years. Lots of people seem to join swinging heaven, moreso nowadays, just expecting to find a shag happy lady who can't wait to get laid. The sort of "swinging heaven family" that I felt existed some years back certainly isn't prevailant today. However the site still works for lots of people, on different levels, many with a different agenda to that which is swinging. Lots of people still make good friends, and lots of people do meet up for fun. For others it's a glorified chatline without the premium rate phone calls. So different it certainly is, dying it isn't.
In the almost six years I've been here it has changed, certainly. But I think 'dying' is far from true. There are more sites like this now; people have changed their internet usage habits greatly with the introduction of the 'social networking' concept. People will do whatever suits them best.
We're all dying. Some quicker than others.
I actually think it's picking up a bit lately. We've had more serious messages asking for a meet in the space of a couple of weeks compared to any other similar period of time in the last 3 years.
We would not agree that this site is dying, in fact we think it is as good as it has ever been.
Living in France, we are never going to get that many mails but we do get a few and have met some great folk from here (hopefully meet a few more too lol). Even here where there are not too many members we still get the odd dreamer etc but you will get them everywhere so we just let them dream on and enjoy the genuine company.
For us this site is just as it says, a swingers site and for us it works well.
I think people expect the site to provision more than it can.
Take a break from it occasionally and use your imagination..............
I don't know the full answer to this, I think it is more likely that the site is changing, swinging has come to incorporate many different pleasures and diversified to many things, a lot of people use swinging sites just to watch cams or perv pictures, and whilst there is nothing wrong with this pastime it does mean that many of the members here have no wish, no intention and no desire to ever meet, they are just here for the free cams, they can watch amateurs having sex for free, they can perv amateur pictures without any real fear of downloading viruses and at the end of the day the "girl next door" appeals to many.
Because of this there are many swingers (the ones that actually meet others) who think that the sites are full of timewasters, and to thier ends they are, but many of those who aren't here to meet think that those that don't have pictures or don't get thier kit off on cam are timewasters.
It is like everything else in life, money changes things, it has been said by many about football and how the game is financially motivated these days to the detriment of the game, all the new members joining the site to view pictures, watch cams, have cyber or phone sex certainly boost membership, even if they don't pay for it the advertisers see lots of members and lots of activity on the site so want to advertise on it. Many of the non-meeting swingers will pay for membership because the main advantage to paying is in the chatrooms where they can view more cams at once etc.
For the old style swingers that are seeking real meets this just means there are a lot more of (for them) timewasters, dreamers, cam/chat/perve only members, some who get off on the chase (talking about meeting even arranging meets but then not turning up or cancelling at the last minute).
The only cure for that is the site without cams and where naked pictures were only allowed in private galleries where you have to be approved by the member to view them, those days are gone though because as I said, there is more money in having open and cam facilities for everyone.
A site that insisted on some form of verification (hold up a sign with your name and the site name on it, then get verified by webcam to a moderator, a limited time period to actually meet, rules on the minimum amount of profile information completed and a rule saying that there had to be a full "clothed" body picture of both partners where applicable and one person for singles (face and identifying marks obscured) would limit the membership but be wonderfull for those that seek to meet but not so financially viable.
We could strat by having a lobby room with no cams.
no, not dying, as has been said, we have had more messages about meeting up since the turn of the year, then we did have in the 6 months previous.
whether anything actually comes from these messages is another thing all together, but to have the interest showing again is a nice feeling.
lots of activity in the chatrooms is a good thing also, because even though some have no interest in meeting, you can find mutual intersting people there, share a cam, and hopefully negotiate to take things further at a later date.
we will be sticking around on here for a while longer yet lol
Hi there,
Amber here from Devious Delights. Myself and J are very new to this site (Wednesday!!) I however have been a member for seven years under my single profile (Ambervixen).
I think that the site has changed a lot in the time that I have been a member and that it has appeared to become more commercial since I initially joined.
Having said that I do think that you get out of the site what you are willing to put into it. There will always be a lot of time wasters on sites like this and I do think that there are a lot of rather lazy profiles.
I don't think that being able to have a cam open in more than one room at once should be allowed as that might get rather confusing!
I think that the cams are there for those that want to use them and to what end they wish to use them for, I for example have absolutely zero interest in watching random men wank off on cam, however I can switch it off as soon as I open them!
I do think that the nature of single men on this site has also changed drastically since I joined on my own, however it's about trial and error.
I do think that the chat rooms are a lot quieter recently without many people bothering to become engaged in a conversation, however it is up to each member how and why they are on this site.
Hmm - that's not a very clear opinion, it has changed, in some ways for the better and in others maybe not so much, we'll see.
I do think that a lot of people see this as a shag site rather than a swinging site, but it is easy to spot them.
Amber
I have been a member of sh for some 5 yrs but have noticed a massive change, is it a branding issue, do less ppl swing ........no idea but i have a poll and perhaps depending on the demograph of voters the owners make take note ggrrrrs dunno how to do the poll thing .......comments it is then
I posted a very similar subject about 5 mins ago and its disappeared ....strange stuff or what .....guess thats my subscription gone on renewal date
ohhh look at that a merged subject how clever
The site has changed and so have the owners.
And when the owners change so did the motives behind the site.
When we joined this was by far the best in terms of comfort, price, suitability and uniquness.
However the curent site owners are developing very very very similar sites in the hope of extra income and using this site as a development, or so it seems.
Surely they would earn more to develop this site.
As for the forum, well that hasn't changed. far too many off us with a vent lol.
The chatroom though is by far the worst experience we have had for a long time, and getting worse.
actually something that people forget when all these whingeing debates open up is that they themselves have also changed during the time they have been members. which is a significant factor in their perception of why they are here.
Let's face it, there are two ways to go if you feel the site is 'dying':
Post a complaint in the hope that someone reads it and fixes the problems for you. When you find that doesn't work you can:
Complain again;
Cancel your account.
Do something positive to help resolve the issue. After all, 99.9% of the site is it's members, and our contributions make it what it is.
;)
Woohoo! 7 years on the site and I finally figured out nested lists!!! :bounce:
The thing is though............ if the site did become unprofitable what would then happen?
There would be nothing worth selling in terms of big business. But for an intrepid few, the prospect of returning to a free volunteer run site might be attractive?
