Walking merrily along to Co-op to buy dinner singing in my best voice down the road (I think that's what did it really, bit of the ole pied piper eh?) and this poor pathetic half starved cat strode out mewing at me.
Now I am really really not an animals person. Have fought tooth and nail not to have animals when my boys have pleaded. I wouldn't be cruel or anything but just think they are not for me - plus eldest has been a little allergic to pollen, dust etc in the past.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the little rat is in my kitchen now - it's a real state. Not injured or anything but badly undernourished. Have given it tuna and some water and now it's really tired and just peed on the bean bag I've left out for it. Manky ears and oh so skinny, it's not in pain just knackered I think. Working Monday and Tuesday so will take it somewhere (PDSA or RSPCA) on Wednesday to see if it has a chip or anything and have he/she checked out (I've called it Carey redface )
Dilemma is - what do I do if they say no it has no chip????
It's gawwwwwjess as mucky and as scraggy as it is!!!!!!!!!!!
Helpppp!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!
We love cats and would love to help you out but we're waiting for ours to arrive from the states and he doesn't really play well with other felines.
do you want to keep it and just can't (cos of earlier NO PETS stance / allergy) or do you want to give it a good home and not to a shelter?
I reckon you decided what to do when you gave it a name!!!
Go out and buy a cat litter tray before the shops shut.
Awwwwwwww, the cat found you.....it's a sign ;)
bolt
We aquired a stray dog over the easter hols, my eldest son (9) found her, the owners were contacted came to collect her, then brought her back! Oh well she is a lovely dog!
You want to be careful, when I was younger we found a cat of a similar description, took it home and fed was that it turned out that the cat had lukeimia (sp?)and that was why it looked so bad, poor thing. And someone was out looking for their beloved cat!
I took in a starving sick cat once. A couple of hundreds of pounds vets bills later and once back to full health, it fucked off to scrounge off some other poor bastard.
Evil things, cats. Don't be fooled by the sorry exterior, it has motives beyond human understanding

Cats are very fussy about who they associate with, and this one has chosen you.
They don't have owners, they have staff, and it looks to me like you've just acquired an employer. biggrin
Looks like you got your self another pussy wink
Bet the kids wont let you get rid, you'll break their
As an animal lover I'd say keep it, but as you really didn't want any pets I'd say hand it over to the local rescue otherwise before you know it the thing will be sleeping on the middle of your bed, washing it's backside while sitting on your clean washing, leaving hairs and presents everywhere and bringing mice in at 3am!
Pets are great, but in reality they are nothing but time, money and patience and can be as demanding as kids.
Anyone want a goat or two?

Or better yet, one of these.....
No cat, problem solved!
Bear in Mind Red, these things can become addictive, I've just got back from walking the cats.
John
redface surprisedops:
One of these keeps cats away too, in fact the smell is enough to keep everything away (apart from other goats lol)
Cats Protection League will take it in if you can't keep it and won't have it put to sleep. Maybe see what the vet says about it's state of health before you make a decision!
I suggest you train it in order to keep those nasty dogs away
Ah ha cats....bless them Y'know if you were starving, sick etc etc a cat would be quite happy to watch you die, play with you a bit then eat you! and leave the remains on someones doorstep! Never trust a cat.....they know too much!
Gawdddddd I hate slushy threads really I do but this is the little scrag end.....
after all this time I still can't add a pic - advice gratefully received, so I've changed the avatar for a while.
Haven't made any promises to the boys - am hoping really that it's chipped and someone will be pleased to see it back.
Cathy x
EDIT; Just remembered it took me ages to resize that pic and didn't save it so if anyone can pm me how to pop the photo on, then that would be great ta x
Or get one of these my baby german shepherd, gorgeous and thinks hes a human!!
The chances of the cat having a chip are remote indeed sad
I have a friend who works as a volunteer for the Cats Protection and she collects unwanted cats such as the one you have found every day of the week. It is not uncommon for her to pick up more than 30 per week and of those generally only one will be chipped or claimed by it's owners :( evil
We have five cats and apart from one, they have all come to us in simlar circumstances to yours. Often wandering in the neighbourhood, hungry and bedraggled, I just could not say no to them confused
No amount of advertising a found cat, phoning the various animal agencies etc had uncovered their owners, so the fact was I could not turn them out again rolleyes
They are all without exception, very loving cats and I wouldn't be without any of them :inlove:
If the cat you have found is in such a sorry state of condition, I would hazard a guess that it's owners won't be rushing forward to claim it. If they cared about it, surely it wouldn't be in such a state?
Only you can decide what you will need to do, but do bear in mind if you decide to keep it, you may be in for some very large vets bills in the coming weeks until the cat is restored to full health.
Have a word with your local Cats Protection if you wish to keep it. They will often help with initial vets bills. After all, it will save them the trouble of re-homing the cat, which would cost a lot more than just the vets bills.

Now you've made me feel bad Red, I'd have to say keep it, it looks so cute.
