Oh I do hope not! :scared:
Although my dad said that he watches it but he turns down the sound on the telly and puts the radio on. Apparently Ken Bruce is a much better host! lol

I want to have a Eurovision Party!! :bounce: I'll invite Ken

Well as Terry isn't doing it this year we have had to find alternate entertainment for tonight in protest.
No doubt we will be protesting as part of the foursome we have lined up tonight biggrin
OMG! I turned it over in the ads and Norway was on... how can they possibly be at the top of the points?! And by so much?! confused
At least we don't have NIL points! :giggle:

that was ukraine....
I thought that denmark might win... but sod all i know...
mind you... top 5 is respectable........
wow the uk didnt get last, Norway was a good foot tapping tune though.
Was very good, far less tactical voting than usual thanks in part to the new voting system. Great performance from the United Kingdom. Hope we can keep it up for next year.
Graham Norton wasn't as bad as I thought he may have been. Have to agree with him on the Azerbaijan female lead...what a cutesy!
Sadly - We watched - and are undergoing aversion therapy to counteract the conditioning lol
We watched it as well and I have to say, there was some top totty on display. biggrin
The winning song was pants in my opinion, but the group that came second, well was she a hot bit or what? Well worth the viewing time.

It to me is total rubbish at it's European worst.
It is obviously fixed as Norway always give Denmark maximum points etc........
It is also a deliberate knock at the Brits, hence we now never come anywhere.
The voting is a farce but good entertainment as we always know where certain countries votes are going to go. . . . . . .

Boring old fart that I am, I log all the scores and, surprise! surprise! the most blatant cross voting over the past decade is the UK and Ireland.
You would expect some of the other groups of countries to cross vote. For example the Scandinavian countries all watch each others TV; indeed there are some common channels.
Likewise with the Balkan states (formerly Yugoslavia).
This year was one of the most open competitions by comparison with the least cross voting.
Im not in love with a fairy tale but I am humming that bloody tune.

I can't even remember what the winning tune sounds like??????
Glad we weren't near the bottom for a change! :rascal:

It does say post count 1 but I've been on here for ages so my earlier stuff probably got lost.
Just wanted to dispel the Wogan myth that the eastern Europeans are the worst cross voting group.

Really?
You mean Cyprus and Greece, who I think have given each other Douze Points every single year since time began, even when they aren't in the competition, are less biased than Britain and Ireland?
I can also recall several times in the past when we have given the Irish nothing and vice versa...
But if the stats say so...
Less tactical voting this year? I still managed to predict several "unusual" results, such as Rumania getting 12 from Moldova, and Moldova getting 12 from Rumania (Shock!), Andorra giving Spain full marks, Greece and Cyprus (as always), many of the old Eastern Bloc countries vote for their neighbours, as do the former Yugoslav countries. Sit with an Atlas and you can work out the voting for many countries.
And one country always who throws us a bone, far more so than Ireland I'd say, is Malta.
Still, I enjoy it. It's a fun night.
And yes Mr K, Azerbaijan's singer was rather hot and at one point it was more Miss World than Eurovision. But then Andrew Lloyd Webber came on and brought me back down to Earth with a bump.
I think you have to expect a little partisan loyalty. Then there is the cultural cross referencing thats bound to have an influence. It doesnt surprise me that te Uk and Ireland exhibit this any more or less than the balkan states. And yes cyprus and malta have been bankers for the Uk for many years if memory serves.
I rather liked the German entry with that lady in the corset.
Now where did lloyd webber get his inspiration for that musical about the the beautiful soprano falling in love with the hideous looking musical genius?
