Just been listening/watching a run down of number one's from the '80s on the telly and it was great to hear some of the brilliant tracks like "Tainted Love".
I loved the '80s - all that New Romantics stuff, but the downside has to be the big hair (Dawnie knows what I'm talking about), OTT make up & yuppies.
But then I started thinking about other era's:
'70s
Glam rock - Yes
Clothing that only looks flattering on stick insects - No
'90s
Sleek hair & ceramic straighteners - yes
Grunge - No
So I thought I'd ask the good people here what they like and dislike about different decades.
I love the 70's
OK i was only 0 to 10 years old but the things i remember
I'm also just getting into the 80's
I suppose i like them all from the 70's onwards only 20 odd years after they have gone
I was born in 79 so I don't remember the 70's - but from what I've seen of the archive footage I feel I've had a lucky escape!
The 80's? Well all I really remember about the 80's is how annoying my older brother was with all his music and records and stupid clothes. lol However I love 80's music now, especially the 'fist clenching' ballads.
The 90's I enjoyed in-between bouts of being a petulant teenager, I loved grunge and my hero was Kurt Cobain in the early 90's, then later I go into dance music.
The 00's have to be my favourite because it's all finally started to come together and I met my partner in 2002. biggrin
I know I should probably be commenting on the fashions and styles etc, but as I'm somebody with absolutely no fashion sense and I never really conformed in any way, I can't really recall what was what and whether I like it. :lol2:
I loved the early ninetys, grunge, leaving school, leaving home and clubbing everyday. ( well maybe not, but quite a lot) That was a great time for me.

It has to be the 70's for me. A great time to be a teenager/young adult. Great music (for me!), travelling the world, not having too much to worry about (few responsibilities).
A thoroughly great decade lol  !!

I loved Nirvana and really like a lot of the music from that era e.g. Stone Roses.
It's the grunge fashion I hated. I was at college in the 90's. All horny and looking to meet sexy guys and they've all got great hair and are wearing hoody's. Not sexy
Great idea...really got me reminiscing (? spelling)

The music was brilliant (to my ears) and I was in a band too, so I lived for the music and gigging. I wasn't interested in guys but some of the girls looked right rough too with their crusty hiar. lol
Hmmm, tricky one this, i like music from all the decades biggrin
For me, I think the 70's would win though :D
Led Zeppelin, Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc, and later Punk :D all great stuff.
I wasn't so keen on the 80's,
but the 90's had the Prodigy, Pixies, Breeders etc, and Nirvana, Pearl Jam, all fantastic :D
I liked 'when the forests echoed with laughter - remember laughter'?
An obscure quote which should pinpointed the time to those who can hear it being sung in their minds.
cool

Tonka Toys (when they were made with steel)
Batman (the batmobile, bike helicpter and boat)
Favorite Decade for me ?????
60's
A fantastic decade
I was born.
The first thing that sprung to mind was that in the 60's my family moved from the slums of Sheffield to a much 'posher' area into a house that had a bathroom, with a real bath actually fitted into the room and an indoor toilet, just off the porch and central heating
70's :bounce:
Lost my virginity.
Began to find the wonders of the female form.
Joined the Army.
Had my first almost 4some.
Had my first 3some.
Caught crabs. (First time at Clap Cinic)
Began 'active' service.
Visited by Dr Death.
Fucked Dr Death off.
Had the time of my life.
80's :bounce: :bounce:
Started the decade with an immortality complex.
Realised that Dr Death had left me with a Demon or two.
Started to actually consider the pleasures of giving pleasure.
Began my search for sexual pleasure on a very base level.
Got married.
Got divorced.
Found that I got a hard for things that other people might not consider
to be sexual.
Re-discovered the sexual joys and freedom of single life.
Discovered sexual pleasure on a base level.
Realised that I was/am a huge, massive fan of women and sex.
More 3somes and group sex.
Found some married couples that enjoyed the company of single guys
Left the Army.
Got married (again) rolleyes
Discovered the joys of parenthood.
Realised and almost accepted that I was possibly not immortal.
Struggled greatly to 'acclimatise' to civvy street.
Had the time of my life.
90's :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Got divorced (again)
Re-discovered the sexual and non-sexual joys and freedom of single life.
Met Mk III
Rediscovered and rekindled my joy of things equestrian.
Began to be able to 'control' my Demons
Got tangled up with Mk III (Married in all but name)
Had the time of my life.
00's (so far  ) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Split from Mk III
Bought my own horse.
Found Swinging Heaven.
Realised 'my sex life is called swinging' (TM PK)
Lost my horse
Had my first actual 'illness' that required time off work.
Finally accepted that I'm not actually immortal. (Almost) wink
Met some fantastic, wonderful people.
Had recreational sex with some fantastic, wonderful people.
Met HLB
Gained more and better control of my Demons
Fell in love (on a vanilla level) with HLB
Got tangled up with HLB - now known as MK IV
Having the time of my life
Favourite decade ?
I can't split 'em
redface Gonna stop now before I start reminiscing
I dont like what the world has become this decade, but personally its been fantastic so far.

Ah but in a musical way or a sexual way wink
we were born in 77, both brought up with Beetles (his dad loved beetles & heavy metal) my mother Beetles and Dance / pop music. He loves Metal from most decades, me mix of everything from late 80's early 90's and some to present. Must say mavorite decade is 00's as my daughter was born in 03

cant stand beetles, only decent rear engind cars were made by Porsche
The 80's was my favourite decade....it was the decade i left school and went out in the big wide world.....oh yeah.....i also met the wife aswell.
I'm a 70's girl too :smug:
I was well into the glam scene in my teens and spent a couple of years as one of the tartan terrors too :giggle:
I loved Slade, T Rex, Sweet, Mud and Wizzard
It was also the decade I discovered rock music for myself instead of having to listen to it second hand via my big brother.
I discovered Queen worship to me still the greatest band in the world, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Roxy Music, Black Sabbath,Bowie, Alice Cooper
Then of course the punk revolution with the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Jam, The Stranglers
I was never into the Mowtown scene but I did like Average White Band and Earth,Wind & Fire.
Such a crossover of musical styles and all before I reached the tender age of 20!
The personal stuff saw my first ( but certainly not the last wink ) boyfriend, the end of my school years and the start of my adult working life, the feeling of getting that very first pay packet ( £16 as I remember ), moving house for the first time in my life and the best of all, my eldest son being born in 78.
I was an 80's girl myself, would do it again in a flash! Madonna's 'true blue' 'borderline', George Michael's 'careless whisper' etc.,... out dancing with my flourescent socks, one pink one orange, matching coloured fingerless gloves and hair with a 'rat's tail'.... anyone else remember these? fab!
Love Mrs Jaymar xx
Blimey you waited a year before posting on the forum jaymar... Welcome aboard wave
The 70's were the best decade for music for me... I am still a Donny Osmond fan to this day redface :lol2:
The best decade for me personally??.... confused :? Can I be awkward and say between 1985 to 1989 and 1996 to 2006?? dunno
