Ok due to a request, what are your all time fav song lyrics?
Mine are and because its my POST and I CAN OK!! have chosen a few Tainted Love (the marilyn manson version) Chop suey (self righteous suicide (System of a Down) Two out of 3 ain't bad (Meat Loaf) that is not all of them it would take too long be just a bit silly to continue anyway post away peeps. Kiss to Certain Ladies you know who you are lol
This song meant a great deal to me when I had to make a big decision. I made that decision and have never regretted it, but the song remains special.
If you were a king up there on your throne,
would you be wise enough to let me go
for this queen you think you own
wants to be a hunter again,
wants to see the world alone again
to take a chance on life again, so let me go, let me leave
Dido, 'Hunter'
(Ok, call me sad....but it's a classic)
Sweet Child 'o Mine by G 'n' R
Silky xxxxxxxxx
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that
special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me
of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

Hi there straight back atcha!!! MWAH!
Silky xxx
Hi OneoftheDamned kiss
Have to totally agree with Silky's post of Sweet Child of Mine - brilliant, superb and wonderful track. (Quick peek at Axel Rose on my desktop.)
Sappho xxx
My two favourite lyrics come from Lloyd Cole (yes Sappho, he's still recording).
From Perfect Skin, the perfect description of a woman:
"Cheekbones like geometry and eyes like sin"
From Old Enough To Know Better, the best song about being wronged by your woman:
"And when it's too late she smiles, takes your hand and says 'Sorry I ruined your life'"
UPDATE: Can't believe I forgot the most beautiful expression of what it is to be in love from Witchita Lineman:
"And I need you more than want you"
Wowee!!!
Marilyn Manson, Meatloaf, Radiohead....you are my kind of people lol biggrin
I dont think I could pick a favourite song...there are just too damn many!! But these lyrics are very special to me, Stu wrote them down for me in some very dark days and they really pulled me through.... Luv ya hun thank you.
The song is Girl with the grey eyes by Big Country
You make me smile
with all the feeling
that you deal in
like a gambler
it makes me feel
that I'm a winner
or a sinner
and I'm branded
I feel your skin
so warm beside me
and I can hide me
in your dreaming
you hold me so near
inside your fear
and I can feel
the blood thats running
I only see those sad grey eyes
I only hear you singing
I am the ticket
you the prize
when begins the winning
Just like Josephine
it will not be tonight
still I have the dream
still I have the sight
Will you and I always be like this
will you and I always have this
Its all we have
the time between us
and no-ones been us
for a moment
you talk to me
just like no other
like the brother
that I never had
I look at you
and you will turn and smile
for a little while
be happy
I want you
with all that loving brings
like a church bell rings for the morning
Oh be my woman
and I will be your man
like I know I can
If you let me
just fill my heart
and I will fill your soul
Alexandra
will never sound the same
not a roman's game
just a feeling
and I will know
the time I heard that name
will never be the same
only better
Love

Where do you start? Call me old-fashioned - OK just call me old - but Carly Simon has to be up there for wordcraft and musicality. It builds. Read it through. Or better still listen to it : -
THE CARTER FAMILY
The Carter family lived next door for almost 14 years
With Gwen and I inseperable from rag dolls through brassieres
Then Gwen began to bore me with her giggles and her fears
The day the Carters moved away, I had to fake my tears
I told new friends Gwen Carter had become a silly pest
And then I found I missed her more than I'd ever have guessed
Grandma used to nag at me to straighten up my spine
To act respectful and read good books
To take care of what was mine
I hated being criticized and asking her permission
So what if her advice was wise, It always hurt to listen
I didn't cry when Granny died, she made me so depressed
And then I found I missed her more than I'd ever have guessed
You used to make me moan in bed, but that can't be enough
My friends complained your jokes were crude,
Your manners were too rough
Don't know just what I wanted, but I know I wanted more
Someone smooth, presentable, to blend with my decor
And now at night I think of how you grinned when you undressed
And I find I miss you more than I'd ever have guessed.
Who hasn't been there...
Jezzay
Ok here's one of my favourites............
Depeche Mode - Somebody
I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who’ll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She’ll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She’ll hear me out
And won’t easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she’ll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
Aaaahhhhh....
I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who’ll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don’t want to be tied
To anyone’s strings
I’m carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when I’m asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I’ll get away with it
Aaaahhhhh....
Dawn :silly:
Ok ok ........
"Agadoo do do .... push pineapple ......."
"Wave a chicken in the air, push a deckchair up your nose....."
"Blobby blobby blooby"
"Lucy in the sky with diamonds......." (William Shatner version)
"Pif Paf Pof, my heart goes Pif Paf Pof" (Alan Cummings written Eorovision entry)
But seriously ...... there are so many 'good' songs that mean the world, just depends on my mood at the time, songs that just leave be feeling floored, flayed and finished!
Buy Me A Rose ...................Kenny Rogers
Take Good care Of Me..........Jonathan Butler
Tell It Like It Is....................Aaron Neville
Hoplessly In Love.................Caroll Thompson
Easy....................................Commodores
It's A Thin Line Between Love And Hate.......The Intruders
If I should die tonight............Marvin Gaye
Take My Hand.......................Dido
Killin' Kind............................Shelby Lynn
You're Not A Memory Yet.......Rebecca Lynn Howard
......too many to list the lyrics.....but such good good sounds!
Well its at times like these that I like to remember those immortal words to help me through this.... "Well its life Jim but not as we know it" lol
Ahh One of the ...
its those Klingons on the starboard bow that do it for me all the time but say it quiet or else Fred will get it in the neck , co am sur ethe de loverly Wilma does not appreciate likes of Startrek....
Gmanxxxx
There is always room for Startrek I mean how else are we to scrape those KLINGONS OFF? lol
Being the sucker for punishment that I am, I'm going to nominate Eels' "Daisies of the Galaxy". It never fails to make me cry.
thinking back to a gorgeous redhead she 36 and I 47
This is the closest thing to crazy I have ever been
Feeling 22 acting 17
this is the closest thing to crazy
I have ever known
I was never crazy on my own...
You have to have been there .... and boy am I so glad I was there....blew away all my thoughts and values but WOW what a woman...
Gmanxx

One of my all time fav's is November Rain by Guns n Roses. Not only for the lyrics, but the listening to Slash play his guitar sends shivers down my spine biggrin
November Rain
When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain
We've been through this auch a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain
But lovers always come and lovers always go
An no one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away
If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin'
In the cold November rain
Do you need some time...on your own
Do you need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...
on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone
I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you
Sometimes I need some time...on my
own
Sometimes I need some time...all alone
Everybody needs some time...
on their own
Don't you know you need some time...all alone
And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever
Even cold November rain
Don't ya think that you need somebody
Don't ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Terry

For me it has to be Walk Away by Celine Dion. Yeah I know she's kinda naff, but this song is soooo sad. I love it! smile
Absolutely anything by the Commodores, Clannad, and of course Praying for Time by the delectable George Michael. Have to agree with redhot too - guitar man Slash is fabbo! :thrilled:
Jess

its called dreaming of you by Selena ....
Late at night when all the world is sleeping
I stay up and think of you
And I wish on a star that somewhere you are
Thinking of me too
Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight
Till tomorrow I'll be holding you tight
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room dreaming about you and me
Wonder if you ever see me
And I wonder if you know I'm there
If you looked in my eyes
Would you see what's inside
Would you even care?
I just wanna hold you close
But so far all I have a dreams of you
So I wait for the day
And the courage to say how much I love you
Yes I do!
I'll be dreaming of you tonight
Till tomorrow I'll be holding you tight
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room dreaming about you and me
Late at night when all the world is sleeping
I stay up and think of you
And I still can't believe
That you came up to me and said "I love you"
I love you too!
Now I'm dreaming with you tonight
Till tomorrow and for all of my life
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room dreaming of you endlessly
Dreaming of you tonight
Till tomorrow I'll be holding you tight
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room
I'll be dreaming of you tonight
Endlessly
And I'll be holding you tight
Dreaming...with you...tonight!
