For me it was Carrie (based on a Stephen King book I think). The bit at the end made me jump from the fireplace to the settee - I was only about 10 and wasn't supposed to watch it !

Too right, you think the films all done and dusted and the hand comes out the ground.
Ive seen Saw and didnt really find it that scary, gruesome maybe when he uses the hacksaw but a very low crap your pants factor.
Well i loved ghostship...great opening...
But halloween scares me so much :eeek: ....
And i love a good horror..watch the old version of dawn of the dead the other night....had me laughing but it made me jump afew times redface ...
Jaws as also a fav of my other halfs and tbh i hate it they scare me to the point that i don't swim in the sea any more....

Was watching Day of the Dead on Halloween on TV, when i jumped a foot at a scene i knew was coming up!! Go figure!!
Jagged Edge.
the scene where Jeff Bridges' white gloved hand breaks the glass pane in the door.
Swear I jumped clean out of my seat.
Raiders of the Lost bloody Ark would you believe.
He was trapped in the room with the walls or roof coming in and she had to put her hand in the hole with the creepy crawlies (god I hate creepy crawlies). As she put her hand in...............he grabbed it.
I didn't know I had a high pitched scream til then redface

I always quote the Jaws 'head rolling scene' as well!
More recently as im so old and difficult to shock (or stoned) its rare a movie works that way , but The Ring was so brilliantly and atmospherically filmed and edited that it did the trick at least once .

That was a pretty un-nerving film, The Ring, and my lovely husband phoned me right at the end...if you have seen the film, you will know what im getting at  Bastard!!
Signs.... when Mel Gibsons brother (Jo Phoenix I think) is watching the news about the kids party in Mexico, they are all looking out the window and an alien walks past with a sudden burst of movie music...shat myself...lol
there is one scene out of aliens 2 that always makes me jump,
it near teh start when they first get on o the planet and they are walking thought the tunnel, and they find that person on the wall, then all of a sudden the alien makes an apperance!.
put apart from that horror films very rarly make me jump.... tell a lie i always jump at the stupid none scary stuff.... like a car door slamming shut (can't remember film), whihc caught me of guard.. my mate where pissing them selves for ages.. which be came a running joke for months..

The ring was rubbish but first time i saw it, well i jumped afew times rolleyes ....blair witch scared me too....saw it at the cinema and well i had afew sleepless nights...but now im fine with it cause i've seen afew piss takes of it lol ....
I really want to see the grudge but don't get the time or have the money to go and see it at the cinema  ....but i'll see it when it comes out on dvd....
The signs was anit jumpy but the story scared me abit and i've seen it afew times since and think its a good film.....
The Haunting, the original B/W version now that film had atmosphere!!
Poltergeist 3... the one where their reflections in the mirrors develop a life of their own.... That freaked me out.
Blair Witch project... i knew it was "only a film", but when i saw it in LA, it had just come out, and the scary thing was that people went, thinking it was real (that the people were dead in real life) and they came anyway...
The cheese wire thing in Ghost ship was freaky... most scary thing was that i coaught cold when seeing it (over active air con in the cinema) and then developed pnemonia...
Spent the next week in hospital, looking like an extra from Thunderbirds... with all the IV drips in my arms biggrin
