I am fundraising for a cancer charity and am trekking to Peru in a few months as part of this fundraising venture. However, I still need to raise more money to reach my target and am looking for some ideas on how to do this.
SERIOUS ones please lol ...not shagathons, blow jobs etc
I have self funded the expenses side of my trip so 100% of any money I raise is going to the charity.
Ideally I would like to hold one big event which would raise a lot of money in one go
Bernie cant you have some sort of auction at the London munch????? Also how about some sort of ebay type thread with moneygoing to charity ? sure I have things I could sell on here ?? Thats all I can think of at this time of the morning .............................. you will do it gal xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Come on folks lets make this happen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IHow about finding somebody in you local pub who would be willing to have there head shaved.... or arrange a kinda sports and games nite. Team knockout kinda things...
You could always throw in some of the old games.... How many jelly beans or dried peas are in the jar and things like that..
Just a thought....
Good luck
It depends on how much you still need to raise and what facilities are available to you. Thinking along the lines of community centres/halls or even a friendly pub or hotel (which may give you free used of facilities)
A fancy dress ball.- with/without raffle or auction
A disco.- with/without raffle or auction
An indoor carboot sale - they were called rummage sales once
A pub quiz with locally donated prizes.
A slave auction.
A giant Easter Egg hunt/trail.
A carwash.
A fancy dress carwash.
I once worked with an events co-ordinator and she was always getting letters and phone calls asking if the company could help out with chartitys, I would suggest contacting your local supermarkets and food depots and they usually have spare cash for this sort of thing,
good luck

Try a spot of sponsired moutinering (just the walking stuff not the hanging from cliffs by your finger tips sort) that way you are training for your treck and raisng some cash I normally do a couple each year with a few mates and then donate the proceeds to a couple of charities biggrin
Bernie, why not look at trying to get corporate sponsorship? I have an idea!! Paddington Bear came from Darkest Peru - so that ties in with your trip well, maybe approach the people who own the brand? I found the official website for you....
those guys who clear house charge the people to take the stuff away. then go on to sell the stuff and get oodles of cash for sod all. you make deals with those who want house clearing and run a yard sale and split the profits. its good for charity and does the parasites down and you only give your time.
tony lol
We had a BDSM charity event in Harlow a few years back.
Three of us got wrapped in cling film and had a "slug race"
Watching 3 adults trying to slither along to the finishing line amid hoots of laughter from those who werent brave enough to join in, we managed to raise £500.
Others got sold as "slaves" for 20 mins, made to fetch drinks, light cigs etc.
People donated various small gifts for a raffle.
At the end of the night, we raised over £2000 for a childrens hospice.
Ask your friends to sort out their junk.....sell it.
try your local pub and ask if you can have a quiz night.
Wishing you lots of luck on your venture
dee and Rich xx
If you're arranging a rafle try your local league football clubs, they're surprisingly generous.
A few years ago doing I was tasked with collecting for leukaemia (?) and managed to get shirts and signed footballs from Spurs (yes people actuallly wanted a gazza signature in those days) and Arsenal.
Various ferry companies also gave us free tickets as well
Alright, im half drunk atm, but this is usually the standard Geordie practise for fundraising ideas:
Get someone whos famous for their 'stash/beard to shave it off, or let a kid do it to em in front of everyone, usually a good crowd pleaser
Abeiling
Bungee Jumping
Eating cold beans outta a tin with a cocktail stick, a world record attempt....?
24 hour something, wether its reading to shagging to playing computer games, endurance feats usually go down well,
Streaking is always good (PS, be sure to post a pic)
Thats all i can think of, il update if i think of anything new
